With all of our shows on hiatus, thought it would be fun to discuss any shows, movies, books or music you plan on enjoying during the holidays. New shows, favorites, holiday traditions, recommendations, etc.

Getting back to Haven on Netflix as well as starting Farscape. I'm a few episodes into each and not sure how I'm going to alternate: a few episodes each then switch or a season then switch?
Book wise, plan on finally picking up the most recent Mercy Thompson paperbacks that I'm missing and getting caught up with the story to that point. Need to do the same for Alpha & Omega.

I decided to give TV a break after my heart was crashed for Supernatural and BatB. I'm planing on catch up with TVD's books - still can't seem to engage with the TV version, sorry, guys - and started The Vampire Academy. Finished the 1st book. It's so great! Those who like reading should give it a try.

Undecided on picking the show back up at this point. And sadly, TVD is also sitting in limbo. Missed the episode just after Stefan got his memory back and just don't have the drive to put up with the BS triangle. May or may not drop the series at this point or wait out the season. I need to see how many more books I need in Vampire Academy. If it's 1-2, I may fit them in with my Mercy Thompson pick up and round off VA before the movie releases.

Slash, you don't like Charlie? I thought she was hilarious. I think she won't come back to the show after her last ep, though. I'm a huge SPN fan so my opinion is biase, but S9 is really good so far! The only thing I can't say to make you feel better (not!) is that, at least, your show always had this triangle element, it wasn't brought later just to piss the fans off with the excuse of attracting new viewers. Worse? Seeing that, not only those mitical new viewers aren't coming, but the old ones are dropping like flies. Oh, did you read TVA? I love Christian and Lissa.

Well I still, have a ton of Buffy(Currently on S6) and Angel(S3)eps to catch up with. On top of that, pretty much all of S2 Arrow and Revolution, 3 eps of ouat and the tomorrow people, 2eps of revenge and 1 ep of Ouatiw. Not sure If i want to pick up Reign or Dracula yet. But yep i have so much to watch.
Reading wise: I'm in a funk at the moment, finding it really hard to read fanfics or even books. So instead I'm writing. But my to-do list consists of the last book of the divergent series, and the last book of the Delirium series. Other than that...I think I'll be consistently busy with catching up on my shows.

Charlie is my girl! She is the best! Love Dean's little sis! To heal my Vincat broken heart I've been on a steady diet of Hallmark/Lifetime Christmas movies for the past 2 weeks! I was in serious need of some happily ever afters and you can't get any better than that! They're so sweet my teeth hurt and I'm loving every minute of it! Next week I'm going for the Christmas classics! I love the holidays!

Charlie just rubs me the wrong way. I think it's because she's a bit too heavy handed on the 'nerd' front, and not in a good way to me. It's just when I saw the preview for that episode, I had no intention of watching it the week it aired and went undecided on skipping it entirely or suffering through it. Never made a decision before the following week so the show kind of just fell out for me.
TVD is in a spot where I pretty much hate all the characters or what they've become. So much stupidity between the group of friends that I wonder how any of them are still alive (and we know they've suffered losses) outside of Fate saying they're not done having fun with the saps. I want to say the "LOL, I'm done" moment was Stefan getting his mind wiped and being free of the triangle mess only for that horrible excuse for a person dressed up as someone who cares to throw it in his face and yank back at the last moment (I'm with your brother BTW). Damon tip-toed/avoided it and it was a breath of fresh air + he was just being brothers with his f'ing brother for a change but Elena ruined it and then it was just a Carnival of Ugly from then on from all 3. Damon's plan to team up with Silas to get Bonnie back which involved killing Stefan again and again for as long as it took for Silas to do what he needed to Tessa, Stefan having the chance for something decent/special outside of the vicious doppelganger cycle but throwing it away to save an Elena who showed up out of jealousy cause she thought Stefan was sleeping with Tessa. Just. Turn. It. OFF. That's not touching the Bonnie's death-Silas stupidity either.
And yes, I've got 4 TVA books after just looking. TVA, Frostbite, Shadow Kiss and Blood Promise. So I think I need 1 more if I'm not mistaken (Spirit Bound).

During the hiatus I usually catch up on other shows and re-watch a few of my favorite ones. I don't know, but I'm not as interested in re-watching TVD as much as I used to. The quality of the show is just not as good, and I find myself being less enthusiastic for its return. Of course I still love it (mostly because of the characters -- especially Elena and Stefan) and I'll continue to watch, but the interest I once had is just not there. But I'll probably re-watch a few here and there to catch up on things I probably missed the first time around.
I love most shows on the CW, so I'll probably be watching them. I've been putting off Reign for the longest, so I've got to catch up on that. Also some re-watches of Arrow, possibly. If I have time. I'm really loving the second season. It's a lot more serious and focused. Better writing and acting too. Plus, there's Felicity in those tight skirts and glasses. Haha! Thank you Arrow, keep it coming. Arrow is really coming into its own and I'm loving it.
Another show I like is The Carrie Diaries. I was a fan of Sex and the City (Yes, I'm a guy. And no, I'm not joking. lol), so when I heard they were making a show about Carrie when she was younger, I was definitely interested. So far I'm loving it. It's a nice, cute little show with good characters, great writing, relatable themes, good acting (Anna Sophia Robb does a tremendous job. She really is Carrie.) and wonderful 80's music. Can't say how much I'm loving the music. The songs always fit the mood and character moments perfectly, and they have some of the best hits of that decade on there. The show is just great. It's sad it's not getting the ratings and attention it deserves.
Other Shows I'm loving so far, or have to catch up on
Scandal -- I can't believe how good this show is. It has some of the best writing and acting on television. Kerry Washington is just a Godsend. She's tremendous on it. Plus, the tension and cliffhangers -- jaw dropping. This is what the vampire diaries used to be in its heyday. I can honestly say I'm addicted to this show. It's just that good. I remember I was sick for an entire week, and I watched the second season all the way through. It was so good I couldn't stop watching. Definitely helped pass the time, that's for sure. I can't wait till it comes back.
Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. -- Joss Whedon create two of my favorite shows: Buffy and Angel. So when I heard he was doing another show I was pretty happy. I've watched a few episodes so far, and honestly, I don't like it as much as I thought I would. I mean..... it's a nice show, but it's a little too simplistic for me, and not nearly as serious as it should be. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's Joss Whendon we're talking about, but I thought this show would've been the exception, and maybe bring a little more attention to other aspects besides comedy (which is fine in certain shows and in the right doses). Also, I don't love most of the characters on it, and the storyline doesn't interest me as much. I don't know, maybe I'll change my mind eventually. I'll see how things go.
Books
I love history, and one book I'm loving so far, but really need to catch up on is The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Warfare by DK Publishing. I bought it a while ago but can't seem to find the time to read it. It's a tremendous account of wars from ancient times to the present day, and it has a ton of pictures, illustrations and artwork basically depicting every battle of any importance. It's a really good book and I'm sure any guy, or girl, on here that likes history will enjoy it.
Music
One album I recently bought and am listening to a lot is Icon For Hire's newest release. They're like a punk-pop-rock sort of group similar to Paramore. In fact, it's hard to distinguish their music sometimes (especially IFH's first album). I'm really loving their second album. It's a little more distinct from their first one, but definitely just as good. They talk about a lot of interesting themes that are relatable and each song has a quality of its own that makes it really different from the rest and enjoyable to listen to. I've yet to skip a song on this album. It's that good. If anyone likes paramore or groups similar to them, you will like this band and this album.
