I gave this episode a 4. it would have been a 5 but again TVD found a way to make me laugh, make me mad, piss me off then made me want to cry.
Stefan
It's hard to admit this but Stefan had been getting on my nerves. He was so cold with Caroline I was not having it because if anything I wanted him to break down to her let her know why he was acting the way he was acting.
He was all about putting the blame about IVY on everyone and he was really going to leave her with Caroline I was like are you kidding me?
Caroline has been nothing but a friend and I know he was all about wanting to start over but he didn't have to be so cruel with the person who has been there for him through everything.
And don't get me wrong. I was kind of upset with Alaric and Caroline judging him harshly saying he gave up. I understood why he gave up. Alaric's comment about oh Damon was his best friend and blah blah blah,…like oh please man.
But anyways Stefan and finds himself in the Salvatore Crypt and he won my heart back. I knew why he was acting the way he was but that scene was just perfection for me.
Stefan and Damon
I am so thrilled on many levels that Defan was the reunion they went with as Damon's first reunion. It was refreshing and seriously one of the best endings this season.
Blooper: How did Damon know it had only been a couple of months of him being gone?
Damon and Bonnie
But TVD pissed me off ONCE AGAIN. They always find a way to make Bonnie sacrifice herself for everyone else. I don't know how many times I have to say it but Bonnie is the true Heroine of the show.
They had super cute scenes together.
Damon's "Time to get awkward."
but yes Bonnie could have made it happen that she and Damon could've left. they could've killed Kai again and went on with it together. urgh it seriously pissed me off. but i know Damon will find a way to get her back.
So time to bring in this gemini coven we have heard this season. Which I have a weird feeling Liv and Luke are part of.
Caroline
How many times is this girl going to get her neck snapped by stupid heffas lol…I don't have much to say about her. She was on vampire babysitting mode and that didn't go so well. the dress Ivy had on was super cute. wish i would have seen caroline with it.
IVY
The snatch eat erase scene was hilarious…"compel" ERASE crap its not working hahahahahah lol Now she is captured by Tripp.
LIV and TYLER
They are my mvp this episode. THere scenes were awesome. The maze crash was amazing and I was on the edge of my seat wondering if we were going to see those wolf eyes emerge from tyler's eyes. but LIV did something I would had never thought of and she went on to kill the kid that was dying because of Tyler. It was a smart and selfless move. She saved Tyler.
I was waiting for them to hit it off but I'm kind of glad TVD is holding off with setting them up. I like liv for tyler.
Elena and Ummm Brag boy (don't even remember his name)
I absolutely do not like them together. it's not working for me at all. but they both went on medic mode and started saving everyone around that they could. I was thinking the kiss scene was going to get interrupted by Damon but Im so happy it wasn't.
Alaric and JO
So Jo can't be compelled. so Alaric gave her this amazing speech before he attempted to compel her and bam she kissed him and showed she cannot be compelled. Wonder whats going to happen there.
I don't think I missed anything but looking forward to seeing how they are going to break Bonnie out now and whats up with this kid Kai. Couldn't his coven just kill him.

STOP SACRIFICING BONNIE! She is now the best female character on the show, and certainly by far the most selfless. STOP SACRIFICING HER. Damon better move heaven and earth to get Bonnie back. plus their chemistry can't be denied.
I have been waiting YEARS...YEARS for that Defan moment. No matter what happens this season, that will be my own personal highlight. That hug was such a well earned moment between these brothers.
Also this episode got the first 4 of the season from me, mainly for that hug. and Liv.

I gave 4/5 points, solid and good episode! What did you Like? What you did not like? THAT BONNIE SACRIFICED HERSELF AGAIN!!! Not like is no expression, it is starting to piss me off frankly! Get Bon back to Jer PRONTO! Stefans vamp GF is going on my nerves, pls kill her off! Stefans behaviour is beginning to irritate me, esp towards Caro! Alarics behaviour towards Stef is also irritating! Elena is going on my nerves, like since season 3...will this ever end  I can't stand premed school guy. What was your favorite scene/quote? Stef/Damon reunion !!!! What scene was the most shocking to you or caught you off guard? Nothing caught me off guard or shocked me tonight I'm interested in the Kai SL, is he the new super villain or is it a human vampire hunter Trip Fell this season? What about Liv/Luke's coven? Why can't Dr. Jo be compelled? Til now I am very content with TVD. Cheers! |

One of the best episodes I ever saw on TVD. It had romance and action and it made me care about the characters again. Stefan crying over his dead brother and getting him back suddenly.. wow that was AMAZING!! And I love the Liv - Tyler romance.
What I don't like is Stefan and Caroline. I get it Stefan tried to delete his emotions by running away but now he has Damon back and he can stop mourning and be nice to Caroline again please.
This was the best TVD has shown since season 3 and I hope they will not fall back to Delena diaries now that Damon is back. Please let the storylines go on and spare me from uglycrying Elena.

What did you Like?I weirdly enjoyed Stefan breaking Ivy’s neck and I equally liked it when she was telling Stefan off. The Caroline-Ivy-Stefan scenes were funny. Actually, every Ivy scene was funny. Tyler’s truck going through the corn maze and the aftermath that ensued. Stefan mourning for Damon and then Defan hugging it out. What you did not like?Stefan wearing a shirt while sleeping. Alaric giving Stefan a hard time about moving on. What the hell is Alaric doing to help Damon? He’s teaching – back to his old profession, he’s drinking – back to his old habits. What exactly has Alaric lost? His best friend who f****ed, killed his wife and turned her into a vampire? Alaric should be careful that Damon won't go after Jo when he finds out Elena had Alaric compel him from her memories. But I guess Alaric is safe because Damon only goes after whoever Stefan is in love with. The Whitmore corn maze party. It just came across like they were little kids until that awesome truck barreled through it. I enjoyed that part a little too much.  Liam and Elena especially when Elena kissed him just to distract him. Tyler and Liv – even though she killed someone to save him I don’t understand why he can’t be a werewolf like before. He had it under control so why wouldn’t he be able to control it again? Liv suffocating that poor guy was an overly cruel moment. As a witch I was hoping she had some energy that could at least let him live longer until a vamp arrived to save him. Or at least she could have done some spell to give him peace instead of smothering him. Leaving Bonnie behind with Kai. What was your favorite scene/quote?Professor bourbon This stuff is good but it’s not 'I see dead people' good.
What scene was the most shocking to you or caught you off guard?Liv killing random guy. Can someone please explain this to me because I obviously missed something - why Alaric isn’t a vampire who is a vampire hunter anymore?

Alaric pissed me off, too. And I love that guy. And I feel like they forced that scene to serve the Dalaric fans. Hey I like Dalaric, but that scene just didn't make sense.

Okay...so this episode was actually really good.I feel as if this season is back on the path of good ol'TVD,do you guys agree?
Caroline : Well I like how she is always there for her friends but this episode didn't show much of her so I haven't got more to say.
Stefan : I was confused at that point where Caroline confronted him about being ready to dump Ivy on her and then just leave..It didn't match his character.But I also like how he is off character because it shows that Damon's death had a great impact on him.When he entered the Salvatore crypt..damn,one of my favorite scenes.Especially the Defan hug..Made me cry
Damon : He has become more selfless and I love the Bamon relationship.He truly cared about her and fought to protect her plus didn't want to leave her behind.
Tyler & Liv : I dig them but it was weird how they only cared about triggering the werewolf curse..Helllo?? a dying person is in front of you!! Liv deciding to suffocate him in order to save Tyler caught me off guard..unexpected
Elena : When she saved that whitmore lady girl..thumbs up! I liked how she used her vampire pros to help others.Her kissing that bragging guy though..ugh.I was afraid that Damon was going to witness it,glad it didn't happen.But seriously that guy is so obnoxious..ugh.just write him off or something already.
Bonnie : Oh dear Bonnie..what can I say? Poor little witch..sacrificed herself once again in order to save the others.I was completely heartbroken the moment she got injured and left behind.Hell Damon has got to do everything to bring her back.I want to see some serious effort! However,it's gonna be interesting to see how her storyline evolves.She is by far the best character
Oh and they better not focus on Delena again.There are so many interesting storylines there.It's not that I don't ship them,but I would like to see more of all of the characters instead of just them..
Cant wait 'til next week!

When this show is as good as it was this episode, I want to marry it. Honestly, I'm so in love.  Just going to go through my fave things, if that's all right... The Defan scene was magical, and for me reinstated the deep emotional core of the show. Having two boys myself, I was easily able to imagine Stefan and Damon as little boys who were not only brothers but best friends, and the thought of that bond being broken destroyed me. Their humanness was completely evident in that scene, and my one hope is that the writers don't squander it and have them return to their former strained relationship (although they probably will). Let's see this moment mean something moving forward. Loved Liv and Tyler, I have high hopes for that ship, especially as we learn more about her/her family. Tyler is a better, more interesting character when he's in love. I'm along for this Steroline ride, but I'm still feeling a bit queasy. If we're to believe in this as a OTP I have to see him fight for her, want her desperately, and know with complete certainty that she is IT. Then I'll be driving the car, because I'll know he is truly happy. Elena's little speech to Liam after she kissed him was thought provoking for a few reasons. First, that she recognized human heroism (the kind of heroism she showed consistently in the first few seasons). Second, that she articulated "her type," which can be interpreted as anti-Damon, according to how she remembers him post-compulsion (he was definitely not a hero in her new memory), but it can also be read as a call out to the way she saw Stefan when they were together (but not sure how much to read into that). But most of all I think it's foreshadowing the heroic journey Damon is going to follow through the rest of the season--primarily as he tries to bring Bonnie back. He will prove Elena wrong by demonstrating heroism that completely goes against her new memory of him. I don't really care about Delena, but this arc could be great, and make up for the stupidity of their relationship last year. Loved this one, keep 'em coming... |
