A LONG WAY HOME — Knowing she needs to come to terms with the loss of Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Elena (Nina Dobrev) turns to Alaric (Matt Davis) to help her move on with her life. Enzo (Michael Malarkey) convinces Caroline (Candice Accola) to join him as he tracks down a lead to get Damon and Bonnie (Kat Graham) back, but Caroline is shocked when they make an unexpected detour and uncover what Stefan (Paul Wesley) has been up to. Meanwhile, Matt (Zach Roerig) worries about Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) who is spending time with Sarah (guest star Gabrielle Walsh), a mysterious girl who has recently arrived in Mystic Falls. Elsewhere, Tripp (guest star Colin Ferguson), leader of the community protection program, makes an interesting confession to Matt about his connection to the town. Lastly, with the Other Side destroyed and gone for good, Damon and Bonnie reluctantly band together to uncover the mystery of where they are and how they are going to get back home. Pascal Verschooris directed the episode written by Julie Plec (#602). Original airdate 10/9/2014.

As long as Julie is back to provide the overall direction it might be good but given Kevin isn't around it still won't be great.

As long as Julie is back to provide the overall direction it might be good but given Kevin isn't around it still won't be great. I'm not saying the overall show might be good, just the episodes that they write. If you look, Julie and Caroline have written some of the best episodes of TVD, and if taken on past accomplishments, it's highly likely that they'll do it again. Now, as far as the show is concerned: With this new start/reset, it has the potential to be great again. Because some of the issues that really plagued the show have pretty much been dealt with. No more DE "toxic" relationship (not meant as an offense to DE fans. Those were Damon's own words.) that turned fans off; no more "other side" that guaranteed a revolving door of supernatural beings, thereby killing the tension and suspense required for good storytelling; no more doppelgangers popping out of thin air to convolute an already convoluted mythology (thank God, cause for a second there I thought EVERYONE had a doppelganger. lol) and finally, brand new locations to inject some freshness and creativity to the show. It has been the same scenes in the same town for too long, so I'm glad they're changing things up a bit. Should be interesting. If Julie and Caroline (yes, her! lol) can learn from their mistakes and remember what made this show great, we are in for one hell of a season. If they don't and continue the ridiculous trend they started last year, then we are doomed and this might be the last we see of TVD. Hopefully it's the former, cause after last season we certainly deserve it.

Hopefully it's the former, cause after last season we certainly deserve it. No more DE? Unlikely! Of course there's going to be more DE. No more other side? Worse! An alternate reality where people can come back from. Bamon will be back. You're right about the doppels. But is this a good thing? Wouldn't you want more of Nina and not less? I know I would prefer more Paul even as Tom, Silas etc. The clip with Tyler, Liv and Elena in the classroom seemed exactly like s1-2 when they actually went to high school. I'm not as enthused as you are and yet I really, really want you to be right.

Why does Stefan have blood on his neck? ? But they are searching for the moment when Elena fell in love with Damon. Maybe maybe maybe we'll get back to her hallucinations after she killed that hunter in season 4? Maybe we'll get a reason why she got brainwashed and fell out of love with Stefan so suddenly? ?

No kiki they are rewriting the show they are probably going to say she fell in love with damon when they met first lol and she never loved stefen and send stefen to work on the originals once this is determined. Then cd and jp will be happy.

I am really interested to see 6x02. When DID Elena fall in love with Damon? That Ric can use this on Elena is pretty cool. It also goes to how completely Stefan has been routed. He had to know Elena, he should have left her but he just couldn't -- all Marcos's doppel spell? Elena's love for Damon -- all the result of Damon's original compulsion? Maybe this is where the series turns away from Delena and Stelena towards the relationship between Stefan and Damon. No wonder Stefan is depressed.
Or MAYBE it turns out Elena's great love for Damon is another of Katherine's huge F___overs, going back to Season Two when she first reappeared, so that Katherine could have Stefan for herself.
Also! I guess the date of May 10, 1994 will have something to do with the 90s flashback coming up. Is that someone's birthdate? If so, that person would be just over 20. Jeremy's birthdate was in October 1993, so someone six months younger than Jeremy?
Googling that date, there was a total solar eclipse on May 10, 1994, So something big enough for a witch to hang her hat on PLUS explains the season poster night for day premise ie Dark Dimension idea.
There is a partial solar eclipse coming up October 23 and a full solar eclipse coming up March 2015. Maybe Bonnie and Damon's fate is connected to those dates.

I have ZERO hope that anything Dries writes will be pro Stefan/Elena. They are soul friends, remember? This season is about Elena and Damon's love eclipsing even death and finding their way back to each other.
Dries sucks.

Did some googleing myself... about the title. This is what Wikipedia had to say "Yellow Ledbetter" is a song by the American alternative rock band Pearl Jam. Featuring lyrics written by vocalist Eddie Vedder and music co-written by bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Mike McCready, "Yellow Ledbetter" was an outtake from the band's debut album, Ten. "Yellow Ledbetter" was selected by the band to be the second B-side to the 1992 single for the song "Jeremy", which was where it first appeared.[1] ... Although many fans have made their own interpretations of the song, a common theory has been that the song is about someone receiving a letter and finding his or her brother had died overseas in war"
Ok could this episode be about Jeremy's change? Another side of him? Or about Stefan not beeing able to ignore Damon's death any longer? I just wish the writers would give us a storyline to guess about not just titles

I like that the titles are actually providing information and calling forth things that are specific to the early 90s. I googled the release date for Yellow Ledbetter but the B side connection is very smart. Let's see if they are as clever as you are!
