The plan for taking Kai to 1903 was to kill him, but he escaped just before Bonnie managed to fatally stab him. Damon helped Bonnie to do this because she made him see just how traumatized she was by him, and exactly what he did to her, something I don't think Damon understood the gravitas of until then. And I disagree that Damon is the reason Klaus came to MF, Katherine was. Katherine had been working for over a year with Mason to get the moonstone, and she already knew of Elena's existence, and was planning to use them as leverage to win her freedom from Klaus. Klaus was coming for Elena regardless, because Kat planned it that way. Anyway, whatever, my original comment was a little bit tongue in cheek, with a grain of truth, but trust the debate to circle around to talking about Damon again. ...and what a good thing that Klaus came to MF isn't it ...because although first he caused mayhem and havoc ...just to later become the no 1 and favourite super dream villain...aaah he is so delicious Klaus. Do you watch The Originals too? Hi, I watched the first season, then got bored early in the second. I might do a catch up during the summer, but I have a long list of shows that I want to watch. I adore JO MO though.

Also pinning everything that has happened on Ric for not letting Damon kill Kai would then mean that Damon also needs to do a bunch of apologizing. First off Kai was basically neutered when he merged with Luke. Luke's personality gave him a conscious and there was an effort on Kai's part to apologize and make up for his horrific treatment of Bonnie. It wasn't until Damon needed Bonnie that he convinced her to seek revenge out on Kai. It's Kai's being trapped in 1903 that pushed him back into a maniac so this lands as Damon's responsibility as Bonnie would have never sought revenge on her own. Secondly, in s1 it was Damon's obsession with Katherine that caused Klaus' return to MF. If Damon hadn't opened the tomb then everyone (Klaus) would have thought that she was still in the tomb. Katherine to protect herself, because Klaus was going to kill her because she became a vamp before she could complete Klaus' sick sacrifice, gave up Elena the human Petrova doppelganger so that Klaus wouldn't kill Katherine. All this started with Damon opening the tomb and discovering that Katherine wasn't there. Obviously in both cases, Damon had no clue that his actions would cause such horrific consequences so he owes no one apologies for these 2 cases (there are plenty of cases where he does owe apologies but that's not what this debate is about). Just as Damon owes no one an apology because of the negative ripple effect of his actions, Ric does not owe anyone an apology either. Anyway, whatever, my original comment was a little bit tongue in cheek, with a grain of truth, but trust the debate to circle around to talking about Damon again. Kat was far superior than anyone gives her credit. She would have never confronted Klaus unless absolutely necessary. Her MO is to run not confront. Mason and the moonstone were part of her back up plan. The argument circles back to Damon because I don't see you asking for Damon to ever apologize to anyone. My point was that neither of them in these circumstances should have to apologize because there is no way they could have possibly anticipated the repercussions of their actions. You're still insisting that there is a grain of truth to Ric's need to apologize even though he lost the most. It would be refreshing to hear a Damon fan admit that then he too owes apologies. Surely, he isn't without erring in the entirety of 6 seasons.

JoMo is one crazily talented actor.

My question always was probably the reverse: why did we always have to lose the real zing of Damon within the scope of Delena? His emergence as an heroic figure -- before last night which paid off big time when he beheaded Kai -- hahahhaha! -- then saved Bonnie -- heretofore was sometimes a bit sappy. I don't want to see Damon Salvatore wandering around Season Seven talking a bunch of amends, mainly because the words they put in his mouth are things I really did not buy the character of the vampire Damon as saying. I hope we get to see more grown up Damon and Stefan next year. Game on!

See, what I really want to know is...what makes Stefan think Damon is a good brother? Was that before or after Damon screwed the love of Stefans life the day after they broke up because of Damon? How is he worth loving in Stefan's eyes? Because I know, I would never talk to my sibling again after pulling that crap. And why is Stefan okay with only mattering to Damon, so long as Stefan isn't with Elena? I will never buy Stefan's speech...Damon hasn't proven himself worthy of his brother's love, especially since he helped facilitate so much pain towards him.

I'm not really remembering though where Stefan said he thought Damon was a good brother. I don't think that's what has been drawn out. Stefan said to Elena that he just started liking the person Damon was becoming in his relationship with Elena to the point that it overcame his expectation that Damon would screw it up. I don't think he said anything about Damon being a great brother. Just that he was his brother and he didn't want to lose him. I do remember Stefan feeling guilty for keeping Enzo's death from Damon and referring to himself as a crappy brother. I could be blanking though?

I can't remember the last time any one got an apology from him...I am still waiting for Matt to beat the ever living crap out Damon, as much as he can any way. Run him over...something. Damon has hurt these people enough...no one ever owes that clown an apology. I believe Damon has sincerely apologized to Ric (not that I felt he should have), and to Bonnie, just this last season. I have a list of other apologies Damon has made when knows he screwed up, would you like me to post it?

I've honestly seen a big change in damon this season n he has apologized to Alaric for when he compelled him to get the witchy thing from Jo n also to bonnie. Sent from my SM-G900T using proboards

Sure, I would love to see where Damon made any amends and/or apologies for 1. Matt/Vicki 2. Caroline (Season 1) 3. Lexi 4. Stefan, you know, going after his girldfriend and all....
I would love to see those.

I would love to see those. Especially since there is a direct correlation with Damon's actions and the actual bad deed. In Ric's case he didn't cause the slaughter and had no way of predicting it would happen. If all characters who were bad were instantly killed then Damon should've been killed in s1 and it would have saved so many characters so much grief.

I would love to see those. Honestly I'm over those apologies (excluding Matt) because they were so long ago and Damon even being a dick time to time, has saved these people when he's had to. It's the person Damon is and thats why many of the characters don't really like him and they have the right to.

It's about debating whether or not Ric needs to apologize for not letting Damon kill Kai. It just seems a little much to expect Ric to apologize given he's the one who lost the most and he had no way of predicting the carnage that would ensue by keeping Kai alive. Bringing up all the times Damon needs to apologize is to show how many times Damon has not apologized so why should Ric do so especially when it truly wasn't Ric's fault.

Yea i think i stated it earlier that I don't think Ric needed to apologize for something like that and yea i knew what she was talking about but I know some fans would still like to see Damon apologize for these previous actions, thats why i said my comment..it was just me stating my random opinion on it haha lol

Damon's just the example because the comment was that Ric needed to apologize to Damon. It just a little weird to expect someone to apologize to Damon when he's not Mr. Sorry when something is directly his fault.
