He was about to call Davina McCall and the team from Long Lost Family, but in tonight's episode, Porthos finally discovers the identity of his absent father, the reclusive Marquis de Belgarde. Supported by his loyal friend Aramis, Porthos knocks on his dad's door, but is unsettled by what he eventually finds and soon discovers that the truth really does hurt. Elsewhere, Rochefort enlists the help of Milady, who goes running to Athos, but can he ever bring himself to trust her again? Meanwhile, Aramis and D'Artagnan are outraged when they discover that Porthos's half-brother has been exploiting young girls. If only they had those 'This Is What a Feminist Looks Like' T-shirts back in the 17th century….

shoe20 Additional thoughts: I read some things on spoilertv. I guess I wasn't the only one that wasn't very pleased with Aramis. I saw that you were trying to defend him. Nice! As you can tell no one likes Marguerite or sympathizes for her. Some of the comments there had me rolling! "She was bored. I was bored. Everybody was bored" The scene of Marguerite trying to hug Aramis "He looked uncomfortable. She looked uncomfortable. I was uncomfortable. Everyone was uncomfortable!" Oh man! I was about crying!

As for Aramis, for someone who's supposedly knows how to read women he's totally clueless on this one! He couldn't see Marguerite playing him and stealing his necklace and that she was completely heartbroken! He was just trying to ease his conscience.

Some think that the Cardinal might've known about Rochefort's obsession with Anne and that's why he kept him locked up was to protect the king and queen! Do you think that's possible?
There is talk that Milady will become a spy for the Musketeers? For the next episode she is just going to use Rochefort and gather info and go to Athos with it. What do you think?

There is speculation which I had brought up to you before about the doctor having feelings for Constance. Now that looks like it's going to be a reality in the next episode! Another roadblock for her and D'artagnan! Seriously!
There is speculation that Constance might die by the end of the season! What's your take on that? Or possibly Milady?

One person brought up a very good point about the Cardinal and I have to agree. He had the toughest job. He had to work for a king who was lazy, selfish and childlike and if Louis wanted something done, the Cardinal had to do whether it was right or wrong. The Cardinal had questionable tactics, but he loved his country and did whatever he had to do to protect it. Even if it meant undermining the Musketeers or the King he had a reason--- France. That made him an interesting and worthy adversary. Rochefort is just plain nuts which is why I think the Cardinal probably did know of his obsession with Anne.

I miss the Cardinal also because he was the only one who was able to control Louis!! Did they have pacifiers back then because Louis could certainly use one with all his whining and crying and temper tantrums that he throws! The dauphin is more well behaved than he is and he's a baby!!!
Louis reminds me of Prince John from Disney's Robin Hood!!!

I did come to Aramis' defense on Spoiler. haha....
In what story can you have a handsome swashbuckling womanizer, with no woman to "izer"?   Marguerite, served a purpose in the SL... a way for Aramis to get close to his son.... a woman to "izer".... and someone to betray Aramis to Rochefort..... There was no doubt in her mind about Aramis' reputation...(It was the first thing she said to him) It's impossible for me to believe that Marguerite thought she was the one, after the looks she saw Aramis give Anne..no one's that naive.  After the "chest off" she had with Rochefort in the scroll room it was clear there were a couple of things Aramis liked about Marguerite besides getting close to his son (Rochefort lost the battle of the chests, hands down), ... Anne seems a lot less bothered by his dalliance than a lot of viewers based on her response to Marguerite throwing her self on Aramis at Marmion's shindig.   I think Anne knows you can't take the "hunt" out of the Lion..... What are Aramis' alternatives?.... Monk-up and pine over the woman he can't have?   I'm not sure any of the Aramis dissenters want the boy neutered....
If he doesn't polish his sword occasionally it will rust....

I think Aramis was so wrapped up in letting her down easy that he was clueless it was all a ploy to betray him to Rochefort and steal his cross.  Or Marguerite has really supple fingers (three things?) lol

That's my take..... she's mega pissed at the way Rochefort kicked her out on the street..... One thing about Milady, she knows how to return the favor.... It was pretty cold of her to knife Sofie while she was chained to the wall, but it probably was a kinder death than what awaited her..... and it stopped the info from going anywhere else.  Milady plays the power game better than anyone on the set.  She reminds me a lot of Cardinal Richelieu...

Yes, and he does..... going nowhere.... He's going to mistake her admiration for affection, and get totally shot down next episode.  Not being one of the inner circle, he has no idea what Constance and d'Artagnan have going on.  If Constance was a little more "Milady" like, she would string him along in case "D" gets killed in the war, but she doesn't think that way....

I don't even want to discuss Milady or Constance getting the dirt nap this season..... They don't want me buying a ticket to Doskany...  Kidding.... I don't think they'll go there with either character..... I love Anne but she's in no way as connected to the story as the other two....sry.

Maybe Cardinal Richelieu is off in a "Prison World" and JP can give Adrian advice on how to write him back in the SL.... He was the quintessential villian ....... that was his "scroll room" of course that Rochefort has taken over.... The Cardinal was always prepared... a body box, no less.

Yes she served her purpose all right. Oh yes she really believed he loved her! Don't you remember her actually asking him if he did! I don't like the way the writers wrote her character. They made her come off as REALLY naive, pathetic and desperate and we're suppose to have sympathy for her. I'm also upset how they handled Aramis in this. Making him look completely uncaring or rather Santiago gave one heck of a performance of being over it! Look at his face when she begged him to hold her. Although if I was him I'd probably roll my eyes too. It's just that you think after he completely ignored her last weekend, literally falling to Anne's feet and kissing her hands she still has to question how he feels about her and if it's really over!


Observe Marguerite! What it looks like when you're being blown off and the way one looks at another in love!





No I don't expect him to live like a monk sadly! If I had my wish he and Anne would be together. I don't condone adultery by any means, but it's really hard to believe Anne is actually married to a man when you see Louis throwing a temper tantrum every five minutes! You'd think she was dealing with an over grown child instead of an adult. That's why it's so hard to take her marriage seriously! When she's with Aramis she's a completely different person too. He actually respects her which is something Louis doesn't do anymore.

Yes she does remind me of the Cardinal and makes me miss him even more! They made quite the pair! He gave orders and she carried them out! I hope she takes her revenge out on Rochefort and doesn't side with him although after reading Sandi's advanced preview it has me concerned of her meeting with Athos. Those two can't really trust each other! How are they suppose to work together! I guess she did Sophie a favor by putting her out of her misery that way. Maybe that's why Francesco decided to kill himself because he knew what was coming was going to be really unpleasant!

Again something goes down and it isn't good. Read Sandi's review. It's quite annoying actually that they would try to pull this after Constance made her big declaration of love to D'artagnan. I like the doctor and wouldn't mind him coming back next season. Why make it uncomfortable with him like this. It would've been nice to see Constance work along side him and maybe assist him as a nurse.

You saw that interview with Tamla and her making the comment about if Constance makes it through the season! That's what made people even more nervous! I really hope they don't go that route! After everything she and D'artagnan have been through they deserve to be together! They actually have the best chance out of all the couples now that her husband is dead! Don't even joke about JP getting anywhere near this show or giving advice on writing! You should go wash your mouth out with soap! I like this show!!! It's a shame Peter left to do Dr. Who, but I do wish him the best!

I tried to find one from YT, but they haven't released one yet. If anything pops up I'll post it. They do have great chemistry and you can tell they enjoy working together! It's so cute that he knows their shipping name! I wish we could get interviews like this with Santiago and Alexandria and Tom and Maimie! They rarely ever do interviews together! Especially Alexandria! I'd love to hear the two of them talk about Aramis and Anne! Complicated indeed! I'm still holding out for the bts video of Aramis's stunt for EP6!!! Maybe they're still working on it! They sometimes put some of them out later so there's still a chance!

EP7 Review

Ok this might come off as a rant, but I did like the episode. So let me just jump in. Try to keep up with my scatter brain!
I loved the opening scene obviously from the gifs I posted! Their fights scenes are awesome, but one thing I noticed and this is my first complaint especially with this episode is how bloody it was! Seriously! I was so glad I wasn't eating dinner or I certainly would've lost mine!

It was noticeably more bloody than past eps, but the fight scenes keep getting more realistic..... d"Artangnan is still the best with a sword, but I love Porthos' move of whack the sword twice and kick em in the belly..... Hey, do you think those guys were "red guard"?

This isn't TO! I mean there was blood everywhere which they've never done before, did anyone else notice that? It's like they were going for the gore factor or something. I've got to give a shout out to Hugo for his performance! That was so intense with them trying to do surgery on him! It almost had me in tears, but again I had to look away for most of it so I wouldn't

I second you praise for Hugo Speers performance.... I liked Lamey differing to Aramis to get the bullet out, and Porthos saying someone's gona pay..... cool scene.

I really hope they don't turn this into a horror show. I know there is blood when people die, but I don't need to see it in vivid detail! I'll go ahead and get the other things that bothered me out of the way. Poor Constance! I am sick of them having such violence against women this season! That was the 2nd time she'd been slapped! Thank you Louise for putting us all out of our misery by ending Bonacieux! May he not rest in peace! What an absolute low life! Trying to curse and damn D'artagnan and Constance!

Louise wasn't all bad even though she was a Rochefort lacky..... The "Draper" really need to go after he raised his hand to my Constance..... As soon as d'Art got the name from her, he knew what to do. lol

D'artagnan! Couldn't you have washed your hands BEFORE you go to tell her that her husband is dead! I mean why don't you freak her out a little more and make her have a guilty conscience of wanting to be with you! Now she will carry the image of literally having his blood on her hands forever! Not to mention it's just unsanitary! I also wish we'd gotten to see her reaction to it. Maybe next week.

Why are they making Aramis look like a complete idiot!! Does he really think Marguerite is happy with him just dumpling her like that? And she is an idiot for asking him if it's really over! Did she not get a clue last week when he completely ignored her!!! This was written by one of the girls on tumblr which summed up how I felt about the Aramis/Marguerite scene:

The necklace!!!! WHY!! WHY!! WHY!! did it have to be something that Rochefort gave Anne? It seems tainted now. It doesn't feel special anymore. She gave him a necklace from a total psychopath who's only going to become even more unhinged now that he found out about it!! Heaven help us all! After last week I wish we'd had more interaction with Anne and Aramis too.

I agree Aramis came off looking like a cad, with the Marguerite stuff..... but I get what was driving him...(his son)  Bad enough the Manchild holds him like a prize toy, but to not be close to him would be unbearable for Aramis.  I agree they didn't have to make the cross a gift from Rochefort to Anne.... having Marguerite steal it just didn't make sense... Rochefort was close enough to see it was his several times... I thought he had something else in mind rather than take a look and give it back.... dumb writing....

Ok now that I got all that out of my system I'll talk about what I did like. I loved seeing all the guys working together which is the highlight of the show as always for me!! All their scenes together or each of them paired off doing detective work was just! I loved how concerned they all were for Treville and were working together to save him. You can tell he really is like a father to all of them. Porthos saying that the person responsible would answer to him! Boy did he!!! Awesome fight scene!! I guess the guy would rather be dead than in jail or hanged. I can't really blame him, but grabbing the sword and killing himself!!! :-/Brutal!

shoe20 So this entire thing was a setup by Rochefort to kill his way to the top? Those were his own men in the beginning that were fighting the Musketeers? Red Guards? Seriously the man has no shame! Your girl is a survivor! I liked the scene with her and Athos too. I can't believe she stood there and just watched Treville get shot! She can never change who she truly is which to me is bad. With her finding out all that info at the end I wonder what she's going to do with it? In the promo for next week she's talking to Rochefort about Anne and Aramis and how if they slept together it's treason!!

I do think the guys in the corn field were "Red Guard"... Funny,
Rochefort has his own 500 man army, but all he ever does is dig graves
for em.
I agree Milady de Winter has a ways to go before she dons the nun habit.... I'm not sure why she didn't warn Treville.. I think Catherine is going to back up her story about Athos' brother raping her.... we'll see  As much as she complained about Athos helping her, she left with the money bag....
I think Milady is gona go all "double agent" these next eps.... she'll get close to Rochefort with the knowledge she got this ep, so she can set him up for the kill.....
Please don't tell me she's working with him!!!!I really hope she somehow gives this info to Athos and helps them. Do you think the treason is Anne's affair with Aramis or the letters she wrote to her brother?  (Letter) If this comes out about Aramis then obviously the other guys will find out which I'm very curious to see their reactions. I know they will be supportive and understand why he kept it a secret, but it will be fun to watch!

I loved the scene with Treville deciding to come clean with Porthos about his father. Porthos seemed understanding and will probably forgive Treville for keeping it from him. He obviously loves and respects him because he's the only father he's really ever known so I'm looking forward to next week even though I'm VERY anxious for EP9 & 10. Then I realized it will be over for the season and that will make me very sad!

Yep, he's a Manchild whose a little "light in the loafers"  Rochefort's his hero and big daddy....  Wake up call is coming, soon. lololol  I thought he was going to have Rochefort jump in bed and hold his hand until he drifted off to sleep.

He seems to love Rochefort more than anyone else right now!! Boy is he in for a VERY rude awakening in the next few episodes! Rochefort is certainly going to rock his world! I wish they hadn't killed Louise/Sophie?Sophia I really liked her. She was good actress. She should've played Marguerite. Maybe I'd have cared for the character a little more. I was so bored with Marguerite she could almost put me to sleep! Sorry I have no sympathy for her!

Even the Cardinal thought Rochefort was too crazy to let out of prison! "He wasn't of sound mind!" Isn't that how he put it!

At least the Cardinal had France's future in mind when he did his treacherous acts.  All Rochefort wants is to get in Anne's pants.  He's really gona be nuts now he knows about Annamis.....I do think he's going to turn on Anne.

I wonder if Athos will get a chance to become Capt? From the looks of the next few episodes with them harboring the queen for her safety I seriously doubt it? What will happen with Treville? Will he be reinstated?

I think Treville will stay with the boys and be reinstated with the title of Capt..... None of the boys ever thought he left... It was nice of him to give Athos the nod and tell him how comfident he was in his ability to lead.
I LOVE the looks the guys give Rochefort!! Seriously one of my favorite things in the episode! They're so use to him putting them down now it doesn't even phase them anymore! They're like whatever dude!

So there is my very long review/rant. Yes I did like it believe it or not even though I had a few issues. I'll probably have more to say after I hear some more of y'all's thoughts!

Great review wednesday.... I agree the end scene was one of the best in the episode.... I think Rochefort knows they're not gona kiss his "rosey red ring."...

I'm still 2 down.... that's what I get for spending the night with the "virgin" ha .... but it was really a fun night, so there's that.

Here are a few new pics of EP9 &10. They don't give a lot away, but I wanted to post a few of each of the guys.








There are others, but they are HUGE spoilers so I'm not going to post them. If you're absolutely dying of curiosity and can't stand it send me a message, but I didn't want to spoil it for everyone. The girl in the photo above is Anne and she looks very pretty I will say. They've taken her where I thought they would and if you think about it you'll figure it out. I'm very curious what's going on with my boy Aramis!! Hand on the bible!! I hope they aren't asking him about his relationship with Anne!!! Looks like Athos is tracking something? D'artagnan and Anne are wishing Porthos a safe journey maybe?

One more! Doesn't Constance look beautiful!

This is my last guess at Porthos' dad and Treville..... I think we're getting some answers Fri....

Porthos' dad left the Moors before he knew Samara was preg with Porthos....

When Treville and deFoix caught up with him in France he was married with a child on the way, so Treville and deFoix made a pact to keep Porthos a secret.  I also think there's a good possibility Porthos has a half-sister..... Treville learned of Samara's death and looked for Porthos for many years, until Porthos came to him.....because of his pack with deFoix and the time that had passed he decided not to tell Porthos.  Now he knows that was a mistake and Porthos needs to know... the same conclusion deFoix came to on his death bed.....

I couldn't suspend reality to think a sharpshooter trained to notice the slightest movement didn't feel his cross being taken off!   Plus, I don't think Rochefort just looked at the cross. In trying to imagine what else he might have done, one was he had a copy made and gave that back to Marguerite, or found an extremely similar cross in the jewelry wing, so he could keep the original. Another idea is Rochefort had some engraving or a marking put on the cross that would be damning evidence that the cross once belonged to Anne and was given to Aramis. As it stands, since Rochefort gave Anne the cross, how many people will remember exactly what it looked like. It's not like Louis gave her some crown jewel that would obviously be Anne's. 

Other than those idle thoughts, I liked the action is this episode, and like you two, was a fan of Sophie for hating the 'wife beater.'  wednesday, I didn't notice the blood at the beginning during the carriage battle, but did notice d'Artagnan's bloody hands. My take on it was metaphorical, that d'Artagnan had her husband's 'blood on his hands' believing he played a role in his death.  He was the reason Bonacieux called Constance back from the Loureve and was at that location to collect her when he got bolted to death (hehe, a fabric play on words  ).

Kiki and I chatted about the very thing on our movie date.... She was under the impression the cross had a clasp, which no one could do one-handed...looking at it closer, I think it was tied, but still, it's a real stretch to think she could do it one handed and Aramis was too numb to feel it.

I was thinking quick turn around, but you right he could have done something.... the engraving idea to bolster his accusations of treason with the letter, makes sense to me, girl.  All I know is he's gona turn on Anne.... No fury like a psycho scorned.....

The other thing that's creepy is Anne was 12 when Rochefort schooled her about French Court and gave her the cross....perv

I think your metaphor about d'Artagnan having blood on his hands when he went to Constance, is exactly what the writers wanted to convey.
