What I find disturbing is how little respect is being given to these teenagers ability to recognise the difference between fact and fiction. There is a massive assumption that teenagers will make decisions in their life based on something they watch on TV. Personally, I give them way more credit than that, having the experience two teenagers in my house who are 17 and 19. Most teenagers can separate fact from fiction, and fantasy from reality. Swooning over the latest hearthrob, popstar, sportsman is part of growing up, we've all done it (some of us still do;)), but they don't shape our lives, we move on. I am from the era when pop stars smashed up hotel rooms, bit heads of bats, and generally behaved badly, I adored them, but I didn't try to emulate them, neither did my friends. I don't believe it is the responsibility of the networks to impart morality to it's viewers, that is a parental responsibility. The network is responsible for entertainment.

I just wrote a letter to a friend where I addressed exact this issue and used almost the same words you have written it is not CWs, nor jps nor CDs responsibility. If kids can't digest these kind of shows, let them watch Disney or nickleodeon, why CW or TVD or even TO ? It is the responsibility of parents and of parents alone what they let their kids do and watch.

Day 13. What did you think was funny and what made you laugh in season 5?
Caroline being all neurotic and control freak at the very beginning of the season when they entered college.
Silas made me laugh alot.
Markos beaten down by Lexi and sucked away into the dark void.
Enzo's oneliners...they were hilarious, although he is a strange dude.
Katharina going to the Whitmore tea party as Elena and collecting the sandwiches and stuffing everything in her gob. That was priceless. And her remark to Aaron about a secret society and the sandwich police.
I loved the part when Stefan woke up and didn't know who Elena and Damon were at the end of 05x03. The look on their faces was so funny.

I don't believe it is the responsibility of the networks to impart morality to it's viewers, that is a parental responsibility. The network is responsible for entertainment. Writers can also be culpable for their material. And yes, like it or not pop culture and entertainment has impact on our society even if you are the best parents in the world. Why such a problem with "rape culture" or sexual objectification in society? That is not all the work of bad parenting. Like my Buffy example. Joss was implicit with his writers that an attempted rape by the characters not be ignored because the viewership want to see that couple together. Because he understood how impressionable his viewing audience can be. That his writers had a responsibility to the audience and the characters to not treat these things lightly or ignored. That it would be reckless to have that moment, then 2 episodes later have Buffy jump in the sack with Spike again. That is all I am saying. Sex and violence and abuse have to have context and meaning within entertainment and not be used gratuitously OR yes it does seep into the overall culture regardless. Any moment, ruby is going to be laying the smack down in here. Sorry, ruby!

And "i'm like a supernatural madonna" is an all time favorite.

I even dedicated it to dman, lol!!! In written words and plus the video from youtube. He was not amused hahahaha!!!

Day 10. if you could pick your overall Favorite Scene of Season 5 what would it be and why?
My overall favorite scene in S5 would have to be more then one and they are from 5x18. All the vision scenes Stefan and Elena were having because I know that they will be endgame.

Day14. Most Heartbreaking scene for season 5
For me definitely the last 5 minutes of the season finale. The phone call between Jer and Bon. Jer finding out that Bon had lied to him all along about the solution etc. Jer running through the forest screaming at the top of his lungs for his Bonnie. That scene killed me off, but TVD also made me find my way back to it.

Day 11. If you could pick your overall Least Favorite Scene of Season 5 What would it be and why?
My least favorite scene is more than one and they are all the delena scenes. I will not say why because I do not want to be accused of bashing the couple. Enough said.

Day 13. What did you think was funny and what made you laugh in season 5?
I thought Silas was funny and he made me laugh. I loved all his sarcastic comments and I loved how Paul played him. I just wish the writers didn't kill him off so soon and I had hoped he and Amara, his one true love, would of had a happy ending. But alas the writers screwed that up too.

Day14. Most Heartbreaking scene for season 5
I guess the scene that stands out in my mind would have to be the death scene with Silas and Amara. I thought for sure that they would finally be together.

I second that and for me katherine getting killed by stefen. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I527 using proboards Particularly heartbreaking because of what he did for her on her death bed in 500 Years of Solitude (one of my favorite moments of the season), but to come full circle it makes sense that it would be Stefan and I'll bet Katherine probably preferred it being him to end her life.
