SNEAK PEEK PHOTOS FROM THE VAMPIRE DIARIES 8×05: “COMING HOME WAS A MISTAKE” Get excited, fang fans! A carnival is coming to Mystic Falls in The Vampire Diaries Season 8 episode 5 and we have your first glimpse right below, courtesy of The CW. So magical, right? Well, as much as we’re looking forward to all the fun elements and romantic scenarios a quaint event such as this inspires, the last time a fair took place in this cursed town — episode 2×02, “Brave New World,” to be exact — all hell broke loose. Not only did Care Bear — who transitioned into a vampire after Katherine Pierce smothered her with a pillow — kill an innocent man in a moment of bloodthirsty weakness, but Damon also tried to drive a stake through her heart. “She will die,” he nonchalantly remarked. “It’s only a matter of time.” Fortunately, Stefan and Elena rushed to her aid just in the nick of time and helped her through this terrifying and confusing ordeal. So, while we’re eager to see our favorite characters stuff their faces with cotton candy and ride the bumper cars in “Coming Home Was a Mistake,” we’re also worried about all the imminent danger they’re in with Sybil and her murderous lackeys on the loose. On that dismal note, care for a peek? Check out lovely, new photos of Stefan Salvatore, Caroline Forbes, Damon Salvatore, Alaric Saltzman, and “Hot Nanny” Seline right below! Considering this is a carnival-themed episode, what cute things do you hope to see happen? Share your wishlist with us in a comment below, and be sure to tune in to TVD 8×05 on Friday, November 18 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT!

Despite the carnival having no connection to Tyler whatsoever, this feels like the first real episode of the Vampire Diaries since before the end of last season. Thank you! Also, everyone looked absolutely beautiful. I appreciated the lack of in-your-face gore, the return of romance, and feel appropriately anxious for the twins.

The carnival was a little out of place given Tyler's death but I think they were trying to play homage to the season 2 episode. Which I rewatched the scene with Stelena on the Ferris wheel S2 (crikey all sorts of emotions!!!!) and they're talking about Caroline and Tyler and Elena says it's not going to get easier..,. It all sort of ties in a little with s8,..
