SPOILER:
Question: Just wondering if I can get any spoilers on season 2 of Reign. Especially if any of those spoilers feature Francis. — Michelle
Ausiello: I hope you like demons, Michelle, because Francis has plenty of ‘em. “When Henry died, he talked about what it was like to take a life — it’s a big weight you carry with you,” executive producer Laurie McCarthy says. “One of the things you’re going to see this season is that Francis is carrying that weight; he’s carrying that guilt from killing his father. It was a justified killing, but a killing nonetheless.”

Reign (CW) Premieres: Thursday, October 2 at 9/8c
Where We Left Off: During a bloody finale that claimed the lives of crazy Henry and The Darkness, Mary told Francis the truth about Lola's baby — but not before the Plague began spreading, which forced Mary to lower the gates at the castle.
What's Next: "Not everyone will survive it... but the plague will pass and it will be followed by famine," executive producer Laurie McCarthy says about Season 2, which she also dubs the "haunted season." But there's some good news: Bash and Francis's bromance will finally improve, especially since McCarthy shoots down any hope for Bash and Francis's wife Mary to get together.

Fall TV Spoilers:
King Henry may be gone, but "his presence looms large" at French Court in Season 2, showrunner Laurie McCarthy tells TVLine. While Mary and Francis are forced to figure out what his child with Lola means for their lives, Catherine finds herself with a new potential suitor named Narcisse (Spartacus' Craig Parker). "He lives in an age where life is cheap, and he'll trade lives to get what he wants. He has a complicated past and an intriguing romantic future." That said, Catherine and Narcisse "will score other dance partners, as well." Meanwhile, Bash and Kenna's marriage will be "tested" as he assumes "a different position at Court under Francis" and she remains "ambitious ... and restless." (That's never a good combination.) Also unlucky in love are Leith and Greer, who have found themselves in a "quadrangle." The true identity of Leith's lady friend Yvette will come out early in the season, McCarthy teases, "with very surprising results."
BONUS SPOILER | Remember Clarissa, the gal with the face? McCarthy confirms it's "distinctly possible that she's alive."
RETURN DATE | Thursday, Oct. 2 at 9/8c (The CW)
