Matt is a whole lot of sexy man to save. But realistically, yes it is much harder to save 2 drowning people in a car at the same time due to logistics, even with super human strength. Saving someone with a hole in their heart and losing a massive amount of blood, takes far more than a hand compression. Like I said there is suspending disbelief (the drowning you mention) and there is just ludicrousness (Jo Alaric scenario that played out). Hey writers...I love make believe, but lets not insult my intelligence in the process. Not saying Jo couldn't have saved Alaric with her skills in the long, but that needed to be played out far differently than it was. I think you need to be an idiot to enjoy this show as it is now. Or on massive doses of laughing gas, where everything -- no matter how ridiculous -- is funny. Where's the idiots out there? They're seriously missing out on something special. I'm one of the idiots, dickman, so I guess we are right here.

I dunno. Technically, there was no reason Stefan couldn't have saved both Matt and Elena at the end of Season Three. He just couldn't. Technically I guess Jo saves Ric under the same rubric. It's what happened, people! Ugh. Don't even get me started on the drowning thing again. jennifer, Agreed about Jo/Alaric and Jeremy. Sadly, so far Jer has only had two scenes with Alaric (one with Jo). Here's hoping for more in the future.

Damon said vampires don't do well in water or underwater - something water related - when he saved Elena after she took off her ring at Wickery Bridge. Possible explanation after the fact.

I'm one of the idiots, dickman, so I guess we are right here. I'm an idiot too!! jennifer, my comment was a joke. It wasn't meant to offend anyone (unless you self-identify yourself as an idiot--which in this case I should apologize to said idiots. lol); it was more of an exaggeration to prove a point. I mean... I do enjoy the show to some extent.

It bums me out you don't like the show much anymore. When I first started at VD-net, you were still fairly satisfied with tvd if I remember right. S5 ruined it for you?

Well, I apologize to you on the days that you do. I still like the show. Just not nearly as much as I used to. My complains and rants are just my way of dealing with the frustrations at the decline of my beloved show. Since I have no control over what takes place, talking about it is the only way of dealing. And this site is a great help in doing that. The Sire Bond is what ruined the show for me. It was the beginning of the end.

That is it. Very good of you to make that connection. Thank you! That is a very significant thing to point out, as it is consistent with the idea that vampires avoid running water.

Markos also did a number to the show as well. Let's chant ourselves into oblivion in remembrance. *to Markos* I can still hear those chants crimmyj. They will forever haunt me. Whoever thought that was a good idea needs their head examined, then slapped silly for five minutes just to knock some sense into them. Sigh! I had a bit of fun with Markos, but honestly, he was the worst "villain" (and yes, those quotations are done with a purpose) this show has ever had. Even with the ridiculously funny name, Tripp Fell is a better villain than him. The guy was a total bore. No charisma whatsoever. I miss him as much as I miss season five. BTW, this is one of my famous rants about season five I did over at vd.net. It's about episode 16 "While you were Sleeping." The famous delena scene about their relationship being "toxic" is in there. Here it is: Now that I'm officially back (no thanks to my crappy computer), I would just like to say: who the hell was that person talking to Damon? I mean....... was that Elena or did Katherine hijack her soul too? Wow, just wow!!!!! I know she's changed a bit and I've been disappointed with some of her behavior in the past, but to just brush Damon's horrendous actions away as if it was just a minor annoyance in their "relationship" is beyond even my level of tolerance. That was just a terrible scene; a co-dependent, toxic screw-up of a "relationship" that defies reasoning. That is not love. That is something else. And the fact that they both can't let go tells you all you need to know about how far both characters have degenerated. Elena is barely recognizable, and Damon is just a pathetic man-child incapable of free will -- or a backbone -- unless he's attached to Elena by the hip or another one of her female body parts. He is just a mess. If Damon from previous seasons was a witness to this travesty he would smack him senseless after hurling uncontrollably from the sickness of it all. He really has fallen hard. So sad to watch. Elena is my favorite character and I love her, but I have no clue who she is anymore. That last scene with Damon was it for me. It was beyond painful to watch. I can now officially say she's not the same person anymore. I defended other fan's criticisms of her in the past (rightly so at that point), but I won't now. She's changed. I'll just have to see where everything goes from here. And about these writers: They better have a point in taking Elena down this road. They're basically ruining her character beyond repair. If there's not some epiphany ( a la Angel: season two) on her part soon or a character change next season, I will destroy them! It's bad enough they're ruining the show with their convoluted plots and mediocre writing (please, for the love of God..... no more doppelgangers! Sigh!!!), but I draw the line at a complete 180 of my favorite character. I mean..... I can tolerate certain things, but not that. There better be a plan for all of this..... or else!!!! Other than those minor issues (LOL), it was a solid episode. Not great, but okay. In fact, I was actually liking everything up until that last scene with "them." Nina's acting was good, I loved the outfit she was wearing, and I loved the fact that it was her by herself in a few scenes. It was nice to enjoy her performance without someone else in the way (Big Nina fan). Also, I'm glad Stefan was with her. You can see how much he cares about her and how much he wants to keep her safe. He didn't want to lock her away, but it was for her own good. Those quiet scenes between them definitely brought back those Stelena memories. They really are right for each other. It's too bad no one else can see it. Least of all: Elena! Sigh!!!!!!! Also, loved the Caroline moments. Not only with Stefan, but with Enzo too. She really is a friend to him. I know everyone doesn't necessarily want this, but I think they'll be great together as a couple. They're good for each other. She brings out the best in him, and he in her. Plus, after becoming a vampire, she's much more drama-free than Elena. And Stefan can use someone like that in his life. The guy's earned it, as far as I'm concerned. I was completely surprised Bonnie's witch friend was such an impostor. I totally had no clue. What a witch!!!!! Here Bonnie is taking the time to teach you about witchcraft and you're basically going to screw her over when all is said and done. How horrible!!! I have no clue what she and her brother is up to but it can't be good. I hope Bonnie catches on before it's too late. She really needs to get her powers back; and soon! BTW, the travelers storyline bores me to tears. I have no clue what they're up to and I don't know if I want to know. They show up, do some spells, give some cryptic reasoning and then leave. What? We have no idea who they are and what their agenda is. In fact..... we barely know any of the travelers themselves. TVD needs to develop this storyline better cause it's doing absolutely nothing for me at this moment. Another sad indicator of a mediocre, incomprehensible season. One that is testing the patience of even the most loyal TVD fan. I don't know. My passion for this show has waned considerably. I'll still watch, but it's becoming harder and harder to get excited about it. And because of that I don't know how much more I'll comment. I'll try, but not as much as I used to. Hopefully things change in the future, but these writers give me little faith. I watch mainly for Nina now.

I remember thinking, man if they lost @dman24 then this show has really gone off the rails because you were always a staunch and most loyal defender of the show even when it was getting on shaky ground. You long held the faith. I agreed with it then, agree with it now. When Elena "came back" and just merely brushed aside Aaron Whitmore's death and the near death/torture of Jeremy I was flabbergasted. That was a turning point for me as well toward her character. and again *high five* for the Angel season 2 Epiphany reference. "If there's no great glorious end to all this, if ... nothing we do matters ... then all that matters is what we do. 'Cause that's all there is. What we do. Now. Today." and my fav... "Man, atonement's a b***."
