FRIENDSGIVING AT WHITMORE COLLEGE / FLASHBACKS TO KAI’S MURDEROUS PAST — As Caroline (Candice Accola) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) prepare to host Friendsgiving at the dorm, they receive some hopeful news from Alaric (Matt Davis) and Stefan (Paul Wesley), who have traveled to Portland to gather some information regarding the Gemini Coven. Tyler (Michael Trevino) is determined to help Liv (guest star Penelope Mitchell) after she and Luke (guest star Chris Brochu) reveal some disturbing information about their witch lineage and the impending plans their coven has for them. Meanwhile, dinner takes a drastic turn when Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe), who has revealed some painful details about her past, finds herself fighting for her life, leaving Alaric scrambling to help from a distance. Finally, Kai (guest star Chris Wood) makes a dangerous discovery that brings him one step closer to his release. Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham also star. Joshua Butler directed the episode written by Nina Fiore & John Herrera (#608). Original airdate 11/20/2014.

As a side note...The title is the song Fade Into You by Mazzy Star and one of my all time favorite songs and is very dear to my cold, cold heart.

crimmyj: Small world crim, cause that's one of my favorite songs too, and Mazzy Star is a great group I really enjoy listening to. My favorite album of there's is She Hangs Brightly. Another thing is: I was thinking about posting that song once the episode aired. Glad to know I wasn't the only one thinking about the connection between it and the episode title. Either someone's a big music fan, or they're really running out of ideas for titles. Though a lot of these songs are from the early 90s, so maybe something else is going on. BTW, Mazzy Star's lead singer Hope Sandoval has the same birthday as mine (different years), which was something I've always liked. Great group though.

It would be lame if this only hints the year bonnie and damon were stuck. Maybe 1994 has more meaning this season

"Fade into you" is from 1993, as well as Pearl Jam's "Yellow Ledbetter." That is why I said "early 90s". Look it up.

I did and my wikipedia says 1994 Yes, there are songs from 1994, but not all of them. And certainly not the two I mentioned. Look it up on Amazon.

In the third picture it looks like the guys are standing in front of Elena's house? But that would be impossible for a variety of reasons, right?

amimi maybe the writers forgot that Elena burned her house. Just like they forgot that compulsion wears off if the compelling vampire dies

Alaric did not die so compulsion does not wear off

He was physically dead though. Alaric was dying but jo stopped it. THEY did it on purpose so elena and damons love could fight compulsion for joshua butlers episode. Lol it is funny the show has managed to piss off both fandoms so badly.
