well an then this interview happened.... www.ew.com/article/2011/07/21/dance-with-dragons-shocking-twist-gENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: So why did you kill Jon Snow? GEORGE R.R. MARTIN: Oh, you think he’s dead, do you?
Well, I guess. Yes. That’s how I took it. The way it was written, it sounded like he was mortally wounded – and, you know, it’s you! Well. I’m not going to address whether he’s dead or not. But as to why – didn’t you think the text established why they would want to assassinate him?
...
It’s a harsh chapter in terms of fan expectations. You go from this total high of Jon giving this rousing speech about going after the evil Ramsay Bolton, to this utter low of his men turning against him. So fans are not supposed to draw that conclusion he’s dead? What I’m seeing from early reactions, admittedly just a handful, I think fans are going to split and argue about it until the next book comes out. shoe20 maybe you are not so wrong with your theory after all

ok I cannot let it go.... I need hope for Jon Snow ... So I discussed with a friend on twitter and she thinks the red queen can save Jon with the power of the Lord of Lights. Well, I wasn't very familiar with the Lord of Lights stuff so I googled it and look what I found well if that doesn't sound like my Jon snow... shoe20 I'm in for your theory. He isn't dead or will not stay dead

The books are not out for us to go on either so it is hard to know Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I527 using proboards I read that George R.R. Martin wants to publish the 6th book before season 6 starts. Maybe that's because he doesn't want the show to spoil the books. So maybe he gave the storyline to the TV writers already. But I doubt he will be able to do that for season 7 so the show will soon stand on it's own

Well, I wasn't very familiar with the Lord of Lights stuff so I googled it and look what I found well if that doesn't sound like my Jon snow... shoe20 I'm in for your theory. He isn't dead or will not stay dead I get why the Rangers were upset Jon brought the wildlings south of the wall, It went against everything they'd been taught and experienced.....the "Caesar" on the steps assassination was very understandable from their point of view. What they don't get is the "big picture"...... Jonknows what's coming and they don't.... Jon Snow would never be a follower of the "Lords of Light", but the Red Woman is THE... "poster child".... Remember them saying she rode out before the battle? the only place close to go was Castle Black..... Timing and SL will put her there in time to save Jon.... which I think she will..... I was going to go with Bran at first, but the Red Woman is more likely.....(besides she needs a new guy to try and manipulate) Do you remember when Arya and Dog were captured by "The Brotherhood" in S3 and Dog had to fight Beric ( yes I had to look it up, lol)..... Beric had been resurrected 6 time with the words.... (all foreshadowing) Sleep easy girl.... Jon is coming back. Just doing my support function for my Twin..... I know it will come to pass.... Yes, GoT is not shy about killing off major characters, but Jon Snow............ simply no way...... he and Dany are the core. katvolley13, this is for you too, what do you think?

Jon doesn't have to be a follower of the Lords of Lights. The Melisandre is and she needs to believe that she put her money on the wrong guy when she thought Stannis was the Prince. If she believes Jon is the prince and she will resurrect him Jon doesn't have to believe anything. He just has to be alive that's all I want. Another thing came to my mind: "No one" died because Arya killed that guy which she wasn't allowed to do. And "No one" immediately was alive again. Because of his many faces (whatever that means) Maybe Arya can learn the trick and use it on Jon? And another topic. What about Marcella. She was poisoned but all the girls in Dorne had an antidote around their necks. Maybe her fiance the prince has one, too? He went with them on the ship so he is close by and can save her, right? Well whatever... she isn't a very importand character so I am not so worried about her fate. I found something else while googeling about the Lord of Lights so if Melisandre was wrong and the prince isn't Stannis but Jon I'd finally have my connection between Jon and Daenerys. They are both the saviors sent by the Lord of Light They need to be a couple right? shoe20 I rewatched it, too

Kiki, I can see I need more work. Here's my take Melisandre will realize she back the wrong pony..... Jon is the Prince and aire to the throne...... at least my image of the story.... I don't think Ayra will be involved in his resurrection..but she now knows the secret of the many faced God..... What about Marcella ... She's dead girl, and will stay that way.... This isn't TVD. Jon Snow was not Ned's son.... He only took him to raise.....He's the son of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Eddard's sister Lyanna Stark....(((at least that's what I'm going with until proved wrong) A promise to his sister Lyanna is his commitment to Jon.... all posthumously by the way, for both..... anyway that makes Dany and Jon of the same bloodline, and works for me.

katvolley13 and @kik, it's not many times that TV pushes the book. when I met Diana Gabaldon she said that George RR Martin told her fans asked him to hurry up finishing the books before he dies without giving the end of the story. She said she is glad that the Outlander TV show is far from pushing her for now hahaha.

Kiki....... true, but we only have Dany and her brother to go on..... The series "blond thing" was all about Joffrey and his relationship with Robert Baratheon his supposed dad..... We knew it was Jamie....but where did Jamie get the bond gene? "If Rhaegar secretly married Lyanna, it would ironically mean that Jon is not a bastard despite his life having been defined by his believed bastard status to a great extent, and that he is the heir to the Iron Throne" not my words, but my thoughts. Whoever Jon's mother was, Ned must have loved her fiercely, for nothing Catelyn said would persuade him to send the boy away...... that to me spells "Sister" I'm going Back to my binge.... of Got.... in S3 ep 6.... it's even better the second time around.....

Maybe he wanted to protect the father? I'd put my money on uncle benji. He was at the nightswatch and the oath didn't allow him to have a woman but yet there was one pregnant with his child so he asked his brother to take the child as his own and never tell anyone that he broke his oath

I don't give a rat's a$$, who his parents are or how he gets resurrected... I just want Jon beck at any cost....... Look, I started this foray to support ya, and pose some alternative options to death..... I still believe the show-runners wouldn't risk not bring him back.... It doesn't make sense. Jon is not off the series, is all I'm say'n. Late for you, but you probably can't sleep. lol Jon and Dany are the end game.......

Some are saying that this was a mistake or lie Others are saying game of t wants to keep suspense up for next season. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I527 using proboards But he cut his hair and he wasn't allowed to do that when he was on the show You know I don't watch the show, but I saw all the hoopla over the net and thought of you when I came across this article. I assume this is the one you're talking about where he said he isn't coming back. Hopefully they're just messing with you. Game of Thrones star on that shocking death: 'I'm not coming back'

shoe20 but everyone from Dany's bloodline was VERY blond. VERY unlike Jon because most of the Targaryen royal bloodline were interbred (lots of incest) that kept them all "silverhaired". Jon would have taken after his mother Lyanna (and yes I am a strong supporter of the R + L = J theory) with dark Stark hair as described in the books. Ned also made several mentions or promises to tell Jon of his mother when he saw him again. Also many who knew Ned and his honor always remarked how they are surprised he would have a bastard son because he wasn't the type to go to brothels. Also we know that when Ned showed up at the tower where he found lyanna laying in a pool of blood she made him promise something. It just makes sense that when Ned found her, she was bleeding out from childbirth, with a son she had from Rhaegar, and her dying wish was for Ned to care for her son and promise not to tell anyone whose he is because she knew if Robert Baratheon (to whom she was betrothed) found out about this child he would have had the child killed. That is why even Robert had no idea who Ned supposedly had his bastard son with. As far as Jon's death and his potential return. I hope so. I remember reading that scene in the books and being just pissed off. Jon is one of my favorite characters in the books. It is hinted more in the books about a potential ability to warg (which is what Bran does when his soul can enter another body like Hodor, or in his direwolf) that possibly Jon could have warged into Ghost his direwolf. or that Melisandre can bring him back using light magic very similar to how Beric Dondarrion is continually resurrected in the books and Caitlin Stark was "ressurected" as Lady Stoneheart in the books...though I wouldnt consider that one a successful resurrection but still it was done using the same light magic that Melisandre uses and Beric uses.
