moshe12 inspired me to do a poll. I curious if you watched both series, what couples you preferred?

I voted for Elena/Stefan and Angel/Buffy BUT I did love the sordid tryst/affair between Buffy and Spike, I really did

moshe12, that's why I used the term "preferred" rather than "shipped". I liked Buffy and Spike, too. I thought It might get too messy if I added Willow (she was my favorite character, lol) The poll didn't give me an entry box for the question. Did it for you? and is there an edit poll button after it's created? tks

I saw the heading "question", but there was not a box next to it. Maybe it was my local problem...any thanks for giving me the inspiration to learn more about the page. I was really curious if any one shipped SE and Spuffy or DE and Bangle. Hey, nothing ventured, right?

LOL Like I said to wednesday, Willow was the glue that held the series together.... So Debbie, you like Buffy with both guys, but not Elena? This is exactly what I was looking for in the poll..... All three of us didn't mind seeing Buffy with either guy, and had no real dislike for Spike or Angel... Why?...Good writing. Josh Whedon is the master of triangles. What made TVD think they could have their heroine swap brother's and no one would blink an eye?

Plec believes that she's created through the triangle a complicated love story but as you've said most fans wouldn't have minded Buffy with either Spike or Angel, myself included. That is truly the more complex story because it shows that the characters in Buffy were better developed. In Buffy there was some ambiguity and yet it was clear what story was being told. With TVD the viewer gets whiplash with characters and story lines. If KW were still around I'm sure s4 and s5 would have been better executed.

With all the Whedonites here, we should all do a rewatch of Season 5 Buffy to wipe clean the memory of TVD Season 5 And I can't really pick between Spuffy or Bangel, because when they were a thing, I loved them. Season 1-3 loved Bangel, Season 5-7 loved the complexity of Spuffy. My favorite was Spike and Angel...too bad Angel couldn't have gotten one more season because the dynamics and history between Spike and Angel was finally getting its due in Angel Season 5. I was LOVING IT

I have to say Buffy was excellent writing...I agree that might have something to do with why we like Buffy with either guy but not Elena. For me Its just about onscreen chemistry. Although Buffy is one of my fave shows of all time, I would watch s3 tvd (still my favorite season) over any season of Buffy (though I'm sure many don't agree). I think the characters r just as well developed on tvd than Buffy, I think the stories are just as good (1st 3 seasons anyways), and tvd has some of the best liners of any show. Still, some of the writing is a little too Buffy/angelesque, sometimes I wish tvds storylines weren't so similar.

You can have real life couple with great chemistry, have terrible fictional chemistry in a movie because of bad writing. I wish the writing was MORE whedonesque. I don't consider Plec ripping off storylines qualifies the writing to be similar, just means some of the idea or themes to be vaguely similar. I wish the character development in TVD was as strong as Buffy, then we wouldn't have such headscratching character moments in Season 4 and 5 were it seems like the writers didn't even watch TVD season 1-3 even though some of the writers are the same. And then there is the continuity.... *sigh*

Yada, Yada, Yada. Same old story about not following through and tying up loose ends....You can't have a successful series and give the viewers all the goodies in the last 2 eps. Sometimes I feel I'm only hooked on this series, because Josh did it right, and I'm hoping for a repeat. Your in trouble girl, two hands or naught. lol........ but that would help. Chemistry does have to be supported by script, there's simply not one without the other. BatB is a perfect example, wednesday and I use to talk all the time about how the writer's dropped the ball in that series....they had unbelievable chemistry between the leads (enough to get a second season), and took that chemistry and crapped all over it with the SL. It almost got the cancelled. They reconnected that chemistry last week and were the top series for the week. Josh, didn't have these mundane problems because he had a VISION of where he started and where he wanted to go, and didn't allow Fan pressure to change that course. That equate's into an "epic" series.

That equate's into an "epic" series. This thing that kills me about the fact that TVD allows the fandom to dictate some of the tempo and SL of the show is that they think of that as a good thing. Noooo! it is a part of what is slowly deteriorating the show. Even moments that could be epic feel *ahem* shoehorned in because it is all for fan service and not for the story. While Klaus and Caroline finally getting it on was hot and all, its place in the story was just...weird. And as much as I anticipated their coming together, once that scene was over I just felt cold and distant about it. It became emotionless and incongruent to the story. But it looks great in a gif. *sigh* Not that I have anything against a gif-able moment its just context means everything. Stories don't need to cater to the whims of the audience to be great. Like a choose your own adventure tv show that caters to the lower common denominator. The better stories are the ones with clear vision and conviction, those are the ones that stay with you long after the show is over. It is something TVD had once (maybe that can be attributed to Kevin Williamson, I don't know) and I keep hanging on to hope (A theme of the show, right?) that they can reclaim that magic again. No more jumping the shark...it is time to grow the beard! lynne knows that I had the potential for evil all along, plus I'm sure she knows that you, dear shoe20 might be the bad influence on me! HA! I shall abscond from my high horse, and rule the mass forum realms TWO-HANDED! now where is that gasoline?
