' Flash': 'Arrow' spinoff casts Candice Patton as female lead Iris West
"The Flash," a highly anticipated pilot and spinoff of "Arrow" on The CW, has cast Candice Patton as its female lead, Iris West.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Patton's Iris is the best friend of main character Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), otherwise known as The Flash. Having grown up together, Iris and Barry are expected to eventually become love interests.
Iris is also the daughter of Detective West (Jesse L. Martin), a cop who serves as Barry's father figure. Other characters cast in the pilot include Detective Eddie Thawn (Rick Cosnett), a recently transferred policeman with a dark past, and Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), an intelligent bioengineer who lost her fiance in the explosion that gave Barry his super-fast powers.
The character of Barry Allen was introduced in two episodes of "Arrow" in December 2013. Based on the good reception of those installments, The CW canceled plans to air "Flash" as a back-door pilot. The show will instead get a stand-alone pilot that would air in the fall.
Patton is best known for her role of Tori in "The Game," but has also appeared on "Rizzoli & Isles," "CSI: Miami," "Grey's Anatomy," "One Tree Hill," "Entourage" and "The Young and the Restless."

Pilot Scoop: Supernatural Spin-Off Casts Duo (Including a Vampire Diaries Fan Fave) Nathan Buzolic whose two-season run as the volatile Original ended last May, is joining The CW’s planted Supernatural spin-off as a series regular, Additionally, Lucien Laviscount (Episodes, Skins) has also boarded the project as one of the leads.
Tribes is being described as a sweeping drama about the various mafia-esque monster families that unknowingly-to-humans “run” the underbelly of Chicago and who are being tracked by a newly-minted Hunter who’s trying to stop them and rid Chicago of anything or anyone supernatural.
Buzolic will play David Hayden, a shapeshifter from one of the ruling monster families who’s been living as a human, having given up the monster life years ago.
Laviscount, meanwhile, will portray Ennis Roth, a resolute police academy trainee whose fiancée is killed in the crossfire of the monster war. The tragedy leads him to the truth about what lurks in the shadows and becomes a monster-hunter himself. (He’s the “newly-minted Hunter” referenced in the above logline.)

Three Actors Join The CW’s iZombie Pilot Breakout Kings alum Malcolm Goodwin has been cast as a co-lead in Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero’s CW drama pilot iZombie, from Warner Bros. TV. Also cast in the DC comic adaptation are Last Man Standing alumna Alexandra Krosney, and Alias‘ David Anders.
iZombie is a supernatural crime procedural that centers on Liv, a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective (Goodwin), she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.
Goodwin’s Clive is a detective who recently received a promotion from vice to homicide but has been floundering for his first two months and is in desperate need of making a case. Though dubious at first about Liv’s “psychic” powers, she demonstrates too much accuracy for him not to take her seriously.
Krosney plays Peyton, Liv’s best friend and roommate who is baffled by Liv’s recent behavior and feels like they’re drifting apart. Anders cast plays the show’s bad guy Blaine, an entitled rich kid who bites off more than he can chew in the drug business.
Matt Barr to Co-Star in CW Pilot Identity
Matt Barr, who played the title character in Lifetime’s Romeo Killer: The Chris Porco Story, has been cast as the male lead opposite Ahna O’Reilly in the CW drama pilot Identity, exec produced by Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci. It centers on Mia (O’Reilly), a young New Yorker who learns she needs an organ transplant to survive and her only living relative is a newfound half-brother, Davis (Barr), the charming, privileged only son of a wealthy and powerful Charleston family. She connects with them only to find they’re the target of a CIA investigation for involvement in domestic terrorism, and the agency wants her as their newest informant. As Davis bonds with his newfound sister, he begins to question his family’s nefarious plans. Barr, repped by UTA, Luber/Roklin and attorney Allison Binder, returns to the CW where he co-starred on Hellcats. He also co-starred in History’s Hatfields & McCoys.

Supernatural' spinoff casts Sean Faris as 'Supernatural: Tribes' lead werewolf
Tribes is being described as a sweeping drama about the various mafia-esque monster families that unknowingly-to-humans “run” the underbelly of Chicago and who are being tracked by a newly-minted Hunter who’s trying to stop them and rid Chicago of anything or anyone supernatural.
Faris will take on the lead werewolf role, Julian Durant. He is the son of a wealthy family of lycanthropes, and majorly hates the Hayden family of shapeshifters.
He joins the recently cast Nathaniel Buzolic (The Originals), as shapeshifter David Hayden, and Lucien Laviscount (Episodes, Skins), who will portray Ennis Roth, a resolute police academy trainee whose fiancée is killed in the crossfire of the monster war. The tragedy leads him to the truth about what lurks in the shadows and to become a monster-hunter himself.
The trio will appear in this season’s 20th episode of Supernatural — aka Tribes’ de-facto pilot — airing April 29.
No stranger to the supernatural, Faris played jock-turned-vampire Ben on Season 1 of The Vampire Diaries.
The Flash' casts Barry Allen's mom: 'Arrow' spinoff adds Michelle Harrison
The Flash" has found its mother. Michelle Harrison will play Nora, the mother of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) in the "Arrow" spinoff.
Harrison's role will most likely be seen only in flashback, as she has long since died by the time "Flash" begins. Supposedly murdered by her own husband, Nora was instead the victim of an unidentified killer with seemingly super-human abilities. One of Barry's later motivations in law enforcement and crime-fighting is finding the truth behind his mother's death.
With the Nora role listed as potentially recurring, it seems likely that there is more to the murder story than a simple case of wrong-place-at-the-wrong-time.
Introduced in two episodes of "Arrow" in December, "The Flash" has since become a high-profile pilot project for The CW. It will likely air in the fall of 2014 if picked up to series.
Recently seen in the recurring role of Jessica in "Emily Owens M.D.," Harrison has also had guest appearances on shows like "House," "The L Word," "Supernatural" and more.

'Supernatural' spinoff casts Danielle Savre, Stephen Martines in 'Supernatural: Tribes' lead roles
Tribes is described as a sweeping drama about the various mafia-esque monster families that, unbeknownst to humans, “run” the underbelly of Chicago. These families also are being tracked by a newly-minted hunter who’s trying to stop them and rid Chicago of anything or anyone supernatural.

Pilot Scoop: Gina Rodriguez Is Jane the Virgin

Jennie Snyder Urman wrote the adaptation and is executive producing with Electus’ Ben Silverman as well as Gary Pearl and Jorge Granier. Brad Silberling, who directed the pilot for CW/CBS Studios drama Reign last season, has been tapped to direct.
Stephen Hagan's to star in CW's Identity
Irish actor Stephen Hagan has been cast in CW pilot Identity, exec produced by Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci. It centers on Mia (Ahna O’Reilly), a young New Yorker who learns she needs an organ transplant to survive and her only living relative is a newfound half-brother, Davis (Matt Barr), the charming, privileged only son of a wealthy and powerful Charleston family. She connects with them only to find they’re the target of a CIA investigation for involvement in domestic terrorism, and the agency wants her as their newest informant. Hagan will play Jasper, Davis’ handsome, mysterious, and magnetic best friend who has chemistry with Mia from the moment the meet. He recently co-starred in BBC series Injustice.

The CW Pilot "The Messengers' Casts "The Bible's" Diogo Morgado Diogo Morgado, who played Jesus in History’s high-rated miniseries The Bible, has found a new calling — with a role on the CW drama pilot The Messengers.
Penned by Eoghan O’Donnell (Teen Wolf) and exec-produced by Basil Iwanyk (the Expendables film franchise), the prospective series follows a group of seemingly unconnected strangers who die from the energy pulse that is released when a mysterious object crashes down to Earth — only to later awaken and learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending Apocalypse.
Morgado will play The Man, a mysterious figure who wakes up naked (brr!) and burned (ouch!) in the desert and sets out on a mission to provide answers about the strange events. Presumably after swinging by a Gap.
In addition to his turn as Jesus in both History’s The Bible (and its companion movie Son of God), Morgado’s credits include a bit of “playing doctor” in Revenge‘s Season 3 opener and a long run on the Portuguese telenovela Laços de Sangue (Blood Ties).

I really liked this article. It addresses a topic that has been a minor frustration for me about that show. I mean..... I like the brothers and all, but would it kill them to have more women on the show? I don't think that's asking much. Many of the women seem to die off (some of whom I really liked) or are relegated to recurring characters, and I feel that the show is missing something not having as many women as they should. I know female fans like staring at Jensen and Jared, but I'm a guy, and it would be nice to have a pretty girl to look at who actually sticks around for awhile. Hopefully this new show corrects that.
