Since 'Music' is now mentioned in this board's title, thought we'd get this topic out of the way What artists/albums are you currently listening to, who are some of your favorites, what albums are you waiting for, what genres do you listen to, how did you discover ______, who have been recent discoveries, etc., etc.. Current artists/albums I've been listening to fairly regularly: - In This Moment (A Star-Crossed Wasteland, Beautiful Tragedy) - Killswitch Engage (Disarm The Descent, Alive or Just Breathing - Evanescence (pretty much a mix of all their stuff) - Marina & The Diamonds (Electra Heart) - Kimbra (Vows)Genre-wise, I lean heavily towards Rock and oddly ever step out but I'm open to other genres given the music is good, as you can see above from my current list with those outside of the genre ( Kimbra, Marina). I generally try to avoid Rap/Hip-Hop in all honesty. I have Recovery by Eminem on my iPod but otherwise, I step lightly in the genre, if at all. I think Rihanna falls into that genre and although I have 3 albums, I think I really only ever listen to one all the way though ( Rated R) and have thought about deleting the other 2. Most people in high school were kind of surprised that I didn't listen to Rap/Hip-Hop (skin color plays too much into this perception). My most recent discovery was Tegan & Sara (Heartthrob). Saw them being promoted on the 'What's New' section on my PS3 and made a mental note to check them out. Listened to a few of their new songs and loved what I heard. Still have to get around to their older stuff. Prior to them, it was Kimbra, Marina & The Diamonds and then maybe Delta Rae. Kimbra I discovered just randomly searching Youtube videos ( Settle Down or Cameo Lover was the video, don't remember which was first), M&TD was from a post on another forum talking about her latest album and Delta Rae I first came across watching VH1 where ' Bottom of the River' was playing. As for what I'm waiting for, Masks by Eyes Set To Kill is marked for September and Nemesea late last year said they were working on their next album so I'm waiting on that whenever (next year likely). Other than that, I think others I listen to have released something recently.

Cool.Slash anout the thread. WEDNESDAY had similar music thread she was planning on doing. You might end up participating in it =)
So I am not a big rock person. I can listen to people like Evernesence prob spelled wrong . Or panamore but the heavy Metal.rock.stuff I stay away from.
There are two albums ive had on repeat whenever I drive for the past couple months and its Justin Timberlake 20/20 experience and demi Lovato DEMI.
I NEED to take them out my car already haha.
I usually listen to Pandora at work and find new artist sometimes like.that. ive found anthem lights who.do covers.of other songs n mixes together as well. They pretty cool
I love Sean Paul Music and Jessie J as well as Ciara and Usher etc etc
I dont like RandB as much as when I.was really.young but I still listen to it. Rap is not really my thing. Depending if the beat is hot.
Im mostly pop music.

I honestly was very selective with my Rock my stuff when I first was getting into it. Linkin Park, Evanescence, Nickelback, Creed, etc.. I actually didn't have an ear for the 'scream'/heavier stuff but kind of eased into it and branched from there. Killswitch Engage I honestly was selective with in song choices but have grown to enjoy pretty much all of their stuff. In This Moment kind of surprised me as I think it was the first female-fronted group that I came across that was in the 'scream' department and actually enjoyed and kind of went from there in that area (Straight Line Stitch being another). Otherwise, my interests there are limited to a few.
I don't think I keep up with music too much so I don't think I've heard Demi. Justin Timberlake however I haven't gotten around to checking out his latest stuff. Might have to do that now that you brought him up. I have Jessie J as well on my iPod but I've fallen out with Usher. I know I loved the album with You Got It Bad on it but from there, haven't really kept up with him. I always seem to find my way to checking out P!nk among others oddly enough.

Yea I can listen to bands like Linkin Park, Nickelback, Fallout Boy, Creed etc. But You won't ever catch me buying an album of theres. In order for me to buy an actual album I must really really like the artist. Demi Lovato is a former disney star. I liked her because when I first saw her she was a young girl with a huge huge voice. And I just clicked with her. She is very popish so not sure if you would like her but she may surprise you lol. Justin I have been a fan since I was 12/13 and still am so no matter what comes out of his i get. he is great. He grows with his music and thats what I like. Jessie J is another one who caught me with her voice. I came across a video of hers in grand central station singing her heart out and I'm like man this girl is going to be big and little did I know she was already big and just decided to sing in a train station. lol Usher is another one I liked when younger and I follow up with time to time. I was more into him like you when the You Got it Bad album came out and whenever he releases a new single I will listen to it etc but I have yet to buy an album. P!nk is definitely One I love to listen to. She's great and awesome and I have always liked her bluntness and raspy voice. I actually saw her in Concert a about 3 or 4 years back with Justin Timberlake. She was his opening act and man that girl for her 45 minutes was GREAT. Ive been to a total of 3 Concerts in my Life. I won tickets to NSYNC when I was 14. Then saw Justin and P!nk as a Birthday Gift from my BF now Hubby. and Went to See Demi Lovato in Concert with my little sister.

Guess I'll look into Demi. I don't mind that she's pop, it's just the music has to click and it just really takes 1 or 2 songs. Can't count how many artists I've checked out because of 1 or 2 songs and listened to the entire album and finding all or the majority of it up my alley based off of the first impression/a whim.
Always interesting to see what comes of the Disney/Nick stars. Justin seems to be one of the few of that bunch who has his stuff together in his later years. Britney had it rough, we're seeing what's going on with Lindsay and now Amanda Bynes, others fall into drugs and such. But Justin doesn't seem to have any of that hanging over him which you really have to give him credit for. Miley I've never had a problem with so maybe I should look into her new stuff since it's different from when she started. I've seen a few episodes of Victoria Justice and I think that's another Nick star with a great voice but I haven't really checked out anything of hers outside of what I've seen on the show.

And you are right about the Nick/Disney Stars. Justin timberlake is one of the few who has his stuff together. professionally and personal wise. Britney is back on track and Miley has had her ups and downs a bit. I favor Demi out of all of them because she was brave enough to come out about her personal struggles and use them to influence others as well as a great inspiration for her music. definitely check her out and let me know what you think. Adriana Grande is making her debut around the world too. She was on Victorius right? she's a tiny girl with a strong voice as well.

I had the same thought as well about Victoria looking like Nina lol.
I don't recall anything with Miley outside of the usual 'normal' stuff (smoking is all I've kept up with but not anything else. I like the short hair look on her). I think celebs in general get grilled a bit too much for stuff us regular folk take part in. Vanessa Hudgens, another one who just really...just wow from the outset, but I don't know what she's done lately outside of still doing movies.
Ariana Grande and yeah, she was on Victorious too. She's getting a new show on Nick though with the one blonde (Jennete?) from iCarly. I don't think I've heard any of Ariana's solo stuff though.

Yea Miley's smoking stuff and a bit of her rebellious side was kind of turning downhill for a short amount of time. I felt she was trying way too hard at the age of 17 or 18 to seem as an adult and away from Disney but i guess it was just more my opinion then anything else. I on the other hand don't like the short look on her that much. I liked when she chopped it short above her shoulders but then she went with the pink punk rock look and although she wears it well with her new persona i just personally think she looked better with some more hair. Yea Ariana Grande has a new show with Sam from Icarly. the new show is Sam and Cat. (i have nephews who watch it time to time and i end up sitting there with them haha) Ariana Grande has one song out with Mac Miller I Believe his name is.

Ooops I guess I fall out of the line here. My all time favorite singer is Richard Marx. He's the one who wrote (This I promise you" for NSync). Apart from that I love Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, The Corrs and I like the 90s boygroups like Boyzone, Westlife, BackstreetBoys... And the soundtrack of TVD is not bad either. Oh and I like music from Kevin Costner (yes he is not only acting he is also singing with his band Modern West) and when I'm in the mood I can listen to Enrique Iglesias and Eros Ramazotti all day long

You & I have talked about this before & we pretty much have the same taste! However the only "rock" music I do listen to is Nickelback, ACDC & Creedence when I'm in the mood. Ruby was right. We had been thinking of doing a music thread so I guess Slash beat us to it. Great minds think alike! Tomorrow we'll ask a new question for a song choice!

What is one of your favorite inspirational songs?
Elvis Presley - If I Can Dream
My mother is a huge Elvis fan so I grew up listening to him. It's my favorite of his. I've always thought it was so beautiful & just inspirational. It still gives me chills when I hear it & to watch this performance of his.

This is my most current inspirational song Demi Lovato's - Warrior
She has been through alot in her life and she transferred all her negative things in her life and made it into inspiration for her music. I love it.

Keith is my favorite singer so I listen to him ALOT! Honestly the guy could sing the phone book & it would sound amazing. Whenever I'm feeling kinda down I can always put on any of his songs & they always cheer me up!
I can't help but grin like an idiot when I watch this video. He's so adorable!
