What did you like? EVERYTHING!!!!! This was a great episode of The Vampire Diaries. Yum. I thought I wasn't going to like Julian -- Klaus Wannabe -- but I DID like Julian. The Lily-Julian-Damon-Stefan stuff ROCKED. They finally figured out how to make the Salvatores the A story. YAY!! Plus I am so happy with the way Stefan looks. Gosh. Stunning. Oh Jo. <sob> I liked the mystery of the high school -- can't think what it is about. Plus I liked the Bonnie and Matt team up. Candice King gave a great performance. I even liked Valerie a bit more.
What did I not like? What has Lily done to the Salvatore Mansion? They have all the sets. It doesn't even look like the same place. Also I am not too crazy with Beau doing all the delivery chores.
What was your favorite scene/quote? Have to watch it again. Will check back in on this on the weekend.
What scene was the most shocking to you or caught you off guard? The last scene!! Ha ha, fantastic.

Beau silently fetches everything, a couple of black servants, black singer, the continual side casting of Bonnie. I kept hoping (though I knew it would be true) that the Caroline pregnancy would be rumor, but then here we are and to make it worse it was without consent. eff this show.

The ending was a complete surprise! I love that the babies survived, really like the potential twist of Caroline/Alaric. As a fan waiting and waiting for the Salvatore brothers to pull together, this episode was very satisfying. Matt and Bonnie were great together like you said demetra. They've always worked well together. Their caring for each other is evident. Bonnie: "You're the reason I'll never see my best friend again, so, I hope you're joking." Caroline: "So, what you're saying is, Valerie needs to disappear. New name, new job, a country in a separate hemisphere....if I need to drive her to the airport myself, then I will do that" Stefan and Caroline were cute in that scene. Caroline hit all the right notes this entire ep., particularly watching Alaric and Jo/florence say goodbye. When Alaric cries.... Dislikes, or more like surrealistic moments: The invitation to the party, the party itself. There are times when I see my favorite characters in a TVD story but the surroundings and people are wrong. I feel more interest in Lily and Valerie; the rest don't interest me at all. I found myself wishing for the Originals and one of their parties.

I really liked the episode. I commented on a post a couple episodes ago that Caroline might be able to carry Jo's twins so they could write Candice's pregnancy into the show. I was sort of joking but little dud I realise Caroline would be up the duff. That's really going to put a strain on her new relationship with Stefan, will it rub salt into Stefan's wound over having no children? Even though the girls aren't biologically hers, it will obviously bring her and Alaric closer and together if the future glimpse is anything to go by.... And it seems Valerie is going to be a constant issue between them as I don't see her flitting off to Indonesia to drink coconuts on the beach!
Matt Davis had me crying while he was crying and saying goodbye to Jo. Great scene and a way for Alaric to maybe start healing a bit.
I liked Damon and Stefan being at loggerheads on how to deal with Julian but then ultimately they fight/talk it out and Damon ends up supporting what Stefan wants to do. Well I didn't like they were at loggerheads but I'm glad Damon actually decided to support Stefan.
I liked Bonnies retort to Lily about starting afresh and making Lily jealous, how many men does mumma salvatore want? I think she'll have her hands full with Julian. At least Lily stood up to him regarding her sons when he lost his cool. I was worried they were going to make Lily a bit submissive because she got the love of her life back. But they kept her strong. Though I don't think Julian is going to give up on hurting the brothers quite that easy, so I'm guessing there will be more conflict in store regarding Julian and the Salvatore's.
Seriously I'm so not invested in Mary Lou & Nora's relationship. Mary Lou should just tell Nora to bugger off or can someone just kill one of them? Doesn't look like they are going to kill Val anytime soon and there seems to be too many b***y British girls with attitude problems! It'd be good if they did more with beau but they probably don't know how to write a pivotal storyline for a mute character.
So I don't really see the Steroline relationship taking off (if future glimpses are anything to go by) it sort of seems doomed from the beginning really. As long as Stefan isn't with Valerie again though oh pretty please don't put me through that! Maybe she'll grow on me. They're already trying to make her a more likeable heretic to integrate her into the gang.

I liked this episode very much. For me TVD is finally back on track again. I especially liked the Stefan - Damon storyline. Both fighting over their plans to kill Julian but in the end Damon realized that Stefan was acting different and that there was more to it and he put his own venegeance behind and agreed to Stefan's plan. Wow that doesn't happen much. The pregnancy story is a little strange though but if you think it through. By the time Candice told them about her pregnancy they were close to writing this episode and they sure had other plans for the whole season. So they had to come up with something in a short time. I think if you think about this their plan is ok. Better than a Steroline baby and for sure better than what they did on Hart of Dixie when Jamie King got pregnant.

I realize this doesn't mitigate your core issue of consent, but I'm wondering what's next since the scene ended so abruptly. I can't imagine Caroline thrilled to find out she's magically impregnated. Enraged would be my guess, or at least that should be part of her emotional complexity in dealing with someone else making a huge life choice for her.

I really thought when Caroline was kidnapped that she would be shunted off somewhere and held as a hostage so they could keep her off-screen for the most part, or show her from the chest up or hiding behind objects like they do in so many shows (like HoD). I prefer this option, mostly for Alaric's sake. Definitely a little strange!

As long as Stefan isn't with Valerie again though oh pretty please don't put me through that! Maybe she'll grow on me. They're already trying to make her a more likeable heretic to integrate her into the gang. Stefan was melting my heart this episode with his dream about losing Jacob (he even had a name for him ) and telling Damon how much he wished he'd been a father. That's a good point that Caroline's pregnancy will be rough on him and cause friction between them, with Caroline pulled in two directions and Stefan mourning his loss. I wasn't a fan of Valerie's pregnancy at all, but it's given Stefan an emotional issue to deal with that's bringing out both his anger and his sensitivity. I think S5 was the last time he was more expressive emotionally, when dealing with his PTSD. I believe Beau is going to prove to have an important storyline soon. He was the first one shown with the hunter's mark on his chest. There's a story there we haven't reached yet, possibly including why he's mute. He'll be much more interesting if they remove him from the place of Lily's (and now Julian's) yes man. Who knows, maybe he's behind the zombie people at the high school?! I'd like to see him switch sides and join with the Salvatores.

However--maybe that's not what will transpire.

Just saying I thought at the end of this week's episode, based on what Damon said to Alaric in the fast forward, we might be meant to be thinking that Alaric and Caroline are affianced. However--maybe that's not what will transpire. Well Alaric did say his fiancé doesn't answer the phone or check her phone before going on air (something along those lines) and Damon replied with something like it doesn't look like said fiancé will be making it home on time (after seeing Caroline's message to Stefan on air). So looks like they are making it seem that way. Which with Caroline now carrying his children it's totally a possible match up, and as I said regarding Stefan - it's going to be hard on him, his best friend/ current girlfriend carrying someone else's babies..... Talk about a relationship that seems a bit doomed from the beginning.

I think what concerns me is that it may mean (in terms of the fast forward) we are moving towards what could be the end of Stefan. SOB. The X mark on future Stefan may be that that hunter chasing him has marked him to harvest his soul, maybe that's how the souls get imprisoned in the Pheonix Stone? Or maybe he's made some sort of bargain to exchange his soul to save someone else. The other thing I'm wondering is that we have seen Valerie's story from Valerie's point of view -- maybe things didn't really transpire that way? She was human at the time -- maybe that story is something she was compelled to remember.

What youre saying could quite realistically be possible for our beloved Stefan that's for sure. The future glimpses all seem to focus on Stefan mainly, well it seems like the hunter is mostly focusing on him. Yep and it's very true about Valerie's story too. I wondered awhile back could the child still be alive (and now with the realisation of Jo's babies being alive, why couldn't Valerie's child have been transplanted into another person - she's gemini too isn't she? And definitely compulsion could be involved) could a big twist be instore for us regarding the Stefan and a child storyline? as I feel it will be bigger than just something that might cause ripples in the Steroline pond. I actually don't mind the Alaric/ Caroline pairing, with her carrying his children it's completely believable a bond would form over time - so if that is what is happening, and I know it might not be - well I'm ok with that. Your points on the Phoenix stone and the x mark and the hunter definitely make sense... X marks the spot or the soul rather. Will be interesting to see how this Phoenix stone story plays out.
