The Originals' writers just tweeted that someone pitched a dark story that they'll probably run with, and that got me to thinking. Every character on that show has done something terribly dark except for Elijah. Someone could always excuse his behavior because he was daggered, he's trying to "save" his family, or he's in love. But for once, I'd like to see Elijah get really nasty and do something selfish that is guaranteed to cause a lot of pain. The reasoning behind it could be that Klaus (or even Hayley) pushed him too far, after 1,000 years of other people walking all over him, and he wants to be the one causing mayhem for once. He has it in him. I wonder if the TO writers have any intention of bringing over the mythology of the humanity switch. We've seen Elijah kill people with a smile on his face, but I don't think we've ever seen him without any emotions at all.

I wouldn't mind them taking Elijah dark. and having Klaus be the one that brings him back from the edge. What can I say...I love broships.

I wouldn't mind them taking Elijah dark. and having Klaus be the one that brings him back from the edge. What can I say...I love broships. I don't see why they shouldn't do that, since Elijah and Klaus are so much like Stefan and Damon. Hayley is already being made out to be the Elena of The Originals. The difference between Hayley and Elena, though, is that Hayley was willing to put herself and her baby in danger on multiple occasions just to show that she's tough. Elena usually tries to protect people by keeping the danger focused solely on herself. If she were in Hayley's situation, I think Elena would be more mindful of her baby. She would have let the Originals take care of the homicidal witches and vampires until the baby was born, and then she would have been ready to fight for her family. I don't think that Elena would have done the same thing as Hayley in the situation with Elijah either, but this discussion probably belongs in another thread. I hope things get shaken up a little for Elijah's character. I know that Hayley is the one who is supposed to get darker, which isn't surprising because the "twisted" parts of her just got exaggerated along with her werewolf aggression and her budding feelings for Klaus, but it would make an interesting story later on in the season if Elijah is the one who has to be brought back from the brink.
