EXACTLY DEB! And I think that's one of the reasons it's so hard to let go of them. When the writers wrote Stelena's love story it was done so so well. It was so emotionally driven, that you laughed, you cried, you rooted for them, each week I wanted to just FF through the week so I could watch what would happen next between them. Their relationship was identifiable to us viewers even if one of them is a vampire, it had all the components - friendship, trust, lust, love and COMMUNICATION! What did Delena have? Love & lust. Both important things in a relationship but not the only things you need to make a relationship work and last. The ripper rough patch may of caused some feelings for Damon to form but in the end her human self still chose Stefan. Not DamonStelena weren't perfect together (why would they be? No relationship is 100% perfect) but they also weren't toxic with each other like Delena. Stefan wasn't/isn't perfect, he has his demons he has to deal with every day but Elena never faltered in her love for him, and he constantly put what she needed/wanted first. Even though they were crazy in love and would do anything for each other, they still kept their own identities. Elena was still family & friend orientated. We also got to see Elena grow as a character, her strengths her weakness. She might have felt restricted at times but she definitely lived life more fully in the early seasons compared to her everything revolves around Damon mantra later on. Now I want to say this and I hope it comes across how it's meant to. I don't hate Delena per say. I HATE the way the powers that be went about forming and maintaining the Delena relationship. I'll elaborate. I don't hate Damon as a character. Well I don't actually hate the Damon from the first cpl of seasons. I think he's vital to show the dynamic between the two brothers. Yes he was mean. A bastard. Selfish. A bad vampire. A killer. But that's what made him a good character to watch. To me it's what made Stefan even more loveable. You wanted to punch Damon in the face, hate him but you couldn't help but like him just a little (well I did anyway). But then the writers try and show his softer side a bit (he wasn't a complete a-hole to Andy) which is fine I think as we all have layers to our personalities BUT then they try and redeem him and try to make him heroic and try and make him Stefan number 2 so he seems worthy of Elena. But he's still selfish and untrustworthy. Stefan and Elena go through their rough patch and all of a sudden all the anger, hate, distrust etc that Elena felt for Damon apparently slowly starts to evaporate. Then the game changer. Elena's death. The end of Stelena as we know it. And enter Delena. Now they could've made this relationship excellent viewing. They could've written a storyline something along the lines of vampire Elena is torn between the two brothers, has her fling with Damon because she's feeling more drawn to him at the moment, struggles to feel as close to Stefan, blah blah diddy blah bam! Human Elena - hello Stefan (ok I wasnt going to go into detail and write my own fan fiction there). Instead the writers chose to ignore/wipe out/ stuff Stelena's relationship under the rug pretty much like it didn't happen as epically as we all remember. They rush into this supposedly all consuming sexual Delena relationship in which Elena tells Stefan the girl he loved is gone (how convenient, yet FF to vampire Elena turning human again - apparently that won't change her feelings for Damon, again convenient). But why would it be any other way? Pretty much every storyline pertaining to Delena was written to conveniently forget anything Stelena. Like the first 3 seasons never really happened. But guess what JP & CD? They did happen. And had they not you'd have one of the crappest shows on tv. I'm only still watching because of the loyalty I have to those early story lines and Stelena.

Was just wondering what all of you think about season 7 and what you hope to see? I hope they concentrate on Stefan and Damon and their relationship not being one sided. I would like for the writers to show how much Stefan means to Damon and have Damon make sacrifices for Stefan like Stefan has always done for him. Not sure if this will be shown from hearing how they are making Damon dark again but I can always hope. Hope CD sticks to her word and Stefan gets to be the hero again and she actually gives him a storyline without Caroline. Would like to see Bonnie and Caroline's friendship more and see them working as a team not just with the brothers but those two by themselves. It would be nice to see them saving the day for once without the brothers. Since I'm not a fan of Steroline it would be nice to see Caroline realize that they are better off staying as friends, I know I know it's not going to happen but I can dream right? haha Wouldn't mind Bonnie and Damon growing closer and seeing how their relationship develops. Hope Matt gets a storyline and hopefully Enzo will be relevant this season.

I haven't viewed it yet. So I'll tell you what I think.... Regarding Stefan I totally agree. Will be good to see him back to hero status and I'm looking forward to a darker Damon again. He became a bit boring to watch with his whole I've been redeemed, I'm a good person because of Elena blah blah blah. Will be nice to see a bit of focus on both brothers together. I really hope Matt & Bonnie get some character development and some better storylines!!! It's a bit late to be developing characters come season 7 but seriously the plots/writing has seriously lacked when it comes to Bonnie & Matt and they need some time to shine! It's like the writers have never quite known what to do with these two characters. I was for Steroline at first because I just wanted Stefan to have some happiness!!!! And I do like Caroline as a character (I went into that in the tvd characters thread) but the more I think about them together the less keen I am on that pairing. I actually do ship Damon & Bonnie (I know I know many are against due to cheating, he's still with Elena etc) but as I've stated in the Bamon thread, some of Elena's final words to Damon can be left open to interpretation regarding him moving on. I love Alaric but I'm thinking at this rate he should just leave mystic falls and join Jeremy and Tyler because he sure as hell has no luck with residing there. I'm actually quite intrigued with how season 7 plays out. I think they could really make it a great season as it has lots of potential if they get some excellent writers on board. Oh and yes please do something with Enzo! They could barely write good enough story arcs for the original cast members when they brought him in and then they just sort of eventually forgot about him and stuck him in willy nilly, he just popped up here and there....

olette, I wish you were right but I think the writers said exactly the same thing about s06, about it being more similar to s01 and Stefan becoming the focus of the show (It's the vampire DIARIES, isn't it? And, Stefan is the only one that writes a diary, isn't it? Although, I'm constantly waiting for a another retcon where these brilliant writers are going to show us how Damon has been writting a diary all this time and this is his story, after all!!!!)... But, it turns out that s06 was nothing like they promised it would be so, I'm not getting my hopes up for s07 either. Evers17, I could see myself liking Steroline. It would never be like Stelena for me but, like you said, I just wanted to see Stefan happy. But, they couldn't even do that, no epic moments, no real and believable feelings, nothing. The writers ruinned it so baddly that even the few Stelena fans who could aceept Steroline, don't want to see them together anymore.

Hahaha deb - couldn't you just imagine the Damon with a Diary scenario. The way the writers have been going it's totally possible. They erase and back track everything else so why not call it the Damon Diaries. Tho with how self involved Delena were I doubt Damon had time to sit and write..... "no Elena we can't fight and then have sex, I must go contemplate and write in my diary!" Bahaha

Hahaha! Was just coming to post that. LOL Kiki's pretty quick, demetra..... You have to get up early to beat her to the punch. Paul is really funny, but maybe not too far from the truth..... I laugh everytime I see someone post they know how the series will end..... I don't think JP and CD know for sure.... their twitter writers may have more too say.

I know he's being funny, but I like when he supports Stefan. I do too. I think the s6 finale was also a disappointment for him and not just for his fans.
