I read the stefan diaries too and I I really wished they had brought Callie into the show... I actually like that story about how Stefan met Lexi in the Stefan diaries a little better than how it was in the show... but I could see how that might now have translated as well into the show, but anyway I really liked the stefan diaries... but I think I only read the first 2.. how many were there? on the other board I had a thread for them, I should have saved it.. oh well.

Yea I loved callies story! I thought it would've been a nice addition to the show especially with the history of Damon and stefan and about a long life of misery.

Yeah it would have fit in minus all the circusy stuff... that might not have been good, but actually the whole fight to the death seen would have been interesting to see.

No but it would have because it could have shown when Damon flipped the switch to be evil lol

Last one I read was the one with the Kitsune, the malach (?), and the town girls leveling 'rape' at Matt 'Honeybutt'. The whole feel of the book threw me off coming from the previous ones and I had to force myself to finish it. In fact, it killed all interest in continuing with the series in book form. Just horrible overall.

It really does make me wonder what the hell happened with Smith. I think the continuation of the series is years after she had did the initial 4 so I chalk it up to that. Really is some 'jumping off the deep end' stuff IMO.
I've always wanted a book series following the Originals (a book or two focusing on each one) but I guess we got the show now so that takes care of that although some novels would still be welcome to really get inside the heads of the trio and get a lot more detail on Klaus' journey into the person he is today and how Elijah & Bekah stood by him all that time.

I just finished it too. I had read a spoiler so I knew what was going to happen. {Spoiler The Salvation Unseen} I'm not overly impressed with the books to begin with but I knew going in that Stefan would die at the end and that there were man-made vampires(?). Sometimes it's better to leave on a good note so I'm sure why they are bothering to continue with the series because the plot hasn't gotten better. {Spoiler} I also didn't like how there is always an artificial connection between Damon and Elena. Since the beginning it has always been an outward force that brings DE together. I understand why the show went the route of the sire bond because it was the cleanest DE supernatural connection when you compare it with the other connections in the books.
I also didn't like how Elena was so angry with Stefan over one disagreement - saving Trinity. I'm not sure if this is something they are trying to differentiate in the book from the show but Stefan always trusts Elena's judgement in the show and doesn't treat her like a porcelain doll. I'm not sure where that came from in the book because previous to this installment that part of the story seemed to be the same in both the tv version and book version.
Even though I know they are going to bring back Stefan back, heck even Katherine will likely come back too, I was disappointed with the story.

{Spoiler The Salvation Unseen and The Hunters Destiny Rising} Katherine was resurrected by Klaus in Destiny Rising and she sort of helped save Elena and once it was revealed they were sisters there seemed to be a truce between them. Then in Salvation Unseen she was killed by the fake vamp but really if she was brought back before it's likely they'll bring her back again. Stefan is coming back for sure what's another vamp added to the resurrection? I actually enjoyed the Katherine/Damon scenes until they were being attacked. But overall I'm tired of Elena flipping back and forth between the 2 brothers. She chose Stefan but is still questioning herself? No thanks, that's not an epic love story - that's Desperate Housewives.

did anyone read the 12th book? I just skipped through it and for the first time ever I read the last page before I read the whole book because I wanted to know if it's worth reading
