I liked the twist at the end but apart from that it was just boring. I fell in love with this show because of an epic lovestory and big emotions. There is no romance, not even a real couple (maybe Bonnie and Enzo but they cut out the history they have so I don't care) and no big emotions left. It's just action and weired mythology that makes no sense. And this flashback stuff is so bad. How can I care about a lovestory who's buildup got all cut out? We saw in a flashforward that suddenly Bonnie and Enzo are a thing. Now we get the story in fastforward and are supposed to care when all the emotions are left out and all you get is just the memo about them beeing together? Same goes for Penny and Matt. We get 2 scenes about how they met and a few flashbacks about how it ended and now I am supposed to care about this? But as I always said I'll keep watching as long as Paul Wesley is there.

A good recap of 7x20 www.vulture.com/2016/04/vampire-diaries-recap-season-7-episode-20.htmlKiki , I agree with you 100%! The writing this week and the direction weren't matched. I did like that Stefan and Matt were forced together this week. I only wish their scenes and maybe one or two more about the development of Penny and Matt's relationship back in Mystic Falls had been interwoven earlier in the season so that Matt didn't have to have all of his feels in the same ten minutes of air time. When Matt was laying it on Stefan about "ruining lives", his complaint is deep and seems to go back to everyone in his life: Elena, Vicki, Caroline, Bonnie, Tyler and Jeremy. But Mystic Falls is the ruiner of lives, actually, because werewolves ran there before the Originals, before Katherine, and before Katherine turned Damon and Stefan.

plotholes...plotholes for days. This show is frustrating on like 10 different levels. I love how all the vampire souls from the phoenix stone conveniently found recently deceased vampire bodies and not just recently deceased human ones (because they would be dead already) and not only that but all of these vampire bodies conveniently have daylight rings. Must be a thing, when you awake in your new vampire body a witch is already waiting for you with your daylight jewelry of choice. This show doesnt even care anymore.
Yeah lets make Bonnie a huntress that has an insatiable bloodlust for all vampires...that is a new idea. Jeremy wouldn't know anything about that. Oh and lets make Stefan an ahole this season who then also gets blamed for everything. Right now Stefan is wishing he let Matt drown and not Elena. Worst decision ever. And I have no good words in regards to this whole Ric, Caroline, Stefan thing. just...NOPE.
