The Vampire Diaries CW Airs: Friday, May 13th at 8:00 PM
The Vampire Diaries always finds a way to end each season with your favorite characters in unthinkable danger, but the Season 7 finale may put all previous ones to shame. According to creator Julie Plec, the episode provides a lot of closure for the characters "that then is violently interrupted by a big shift in two of the central characters who may never be the same." Star Paul Wesley says the quest these two characters embark on in the finale sets up the main story line of Season 8, which is "going to be really dark, really twisted and really fun."www.tvguide.com/special/finale-preview/spoilers/The Vampire Diaries (The CW)
When to Watch: Friday, May 13 at 8 p.m.
What to Expect: We've now caught up to the three-year flash-forward, and all of your favorite characters are in varying degrees of mortal peril. While Ian Somerhalder told E! News that he hopes season eight will focus on the core TVD players, we'll have to wait to see who makes it that far. The last episodes of season seven will also feature the return of Candice King, who took a few episodes off after giving birth to her first child. www.eonline.com/photos/18668/2016-tv-finale-spoiler-rama/693614

May Sweeps Preview and Finale SpoilersTHE VAMPIRE DIARIES PRE-FINALE: First thing's first: When Caroline (finally!) returns to the fold, she's "going to bring a lot of resentment and a barely contained fury directed exactly at Stefan," executive producer Julie Plec reveals. Once that's out of the way, "We'll see what it is about her and Alaric that makes them work so well as a couple. She's enjoyed leaving her supernatural lifestyle behind, but she also knows she's living on borrowed time this way." Elsewhere, Damon will try to earn back Bonnie's friendship, but he'll soon be the least of her worries. "The rest of the season is a race to save Bonnie, and all of the fallout that comes along with that," Plec adds. "It puts everyone in grave danger, and not everyone survives it ... at least emotionally." SEASON FINALE (MAY 13): The heartbreaking final hour includes a modest time jump -- don't worry, it's not even close to this season's three-year leap -- allowing for the show's key relationships, romantic and platonic, to achieve a sense of closure. Unfortunately, Plec says, "Just as we get there, we put it in a blender, chew it all up and spit it all out." (Of. Course.)
