The Originals CW Airs: Friday, May 20th at 9:00 PM
The Mikaelsons will have to overcome the prophecy predicting their destruction or perish in what executive producer Michael Narducci describes as another devastating season conclusion. "The show is going to fundamentally shift forever. Every single one of our characters will be changed for the duration of the series," he says. "Things are going to get bad and then there's going to be a glimmer of hope that maybe, because of this family's bond, they may have a million to one shot of surviving. On the other hand, they might not." In other words: prepare for the worst and some painful deaths. www.tvguide.com/special/finale-preview/spoilers/When to Watch: Friday, May 20 at 9 p.m.
What to Expect: We've already lost a major player in this final batch of season three episodes—Klaus' kooky first love Aurora bit it in the April 15 episode—but before the season ends we'll see a few more shocking deaths. And yeah, people die every week on this show, but these deaths will have major repercussions for the Mikaelson family and the entire show.www.eonline.com/photos/18668/2016-tv-finale-spoiler-rama/693615

May Sweeps Preview and Finale Spoilers
THE ORIGINALS PRE-FINALE: While two of New Orleans' hottest couples (Klaus/Cami and Hayley/Elijah) continue to figure themselves out amidst new obstacles -- experiencing both "closure" and "the prospect of more to come" -- executive producer Michael Narducci warns that Davina's relationship with "ticking time-bomb" Kol will prove the most catastrophic. “We're going to see that bomb go off,” he says. “Remember, Kol is a very bad guy." But the storyline Narducci calls the most “satisfying" involves the show's protagonists finally taking a stand against the ancestors. In addition to this fight turning Vincent into "the character we've always wanted him to be," Narducci teases that it will also lead to some mind-boggling alliances: "If I told you the roster of characters -- not just active cast members, but also guest stars -- that will be involved in helping to take down the ancestors, I don’t think you’d believe me." SEASON FINALE (MAY 20): No promises, but don't look surprised if Rebekah should rear her beautiful head at any point during the final hour of Season 3. Narducci cryptically speaks of a "tragic circumstance" set to befall the Mikaelsons, the type of event that would make one want to be with one's family, "regardless of the cost." tvline.com/gallery/may-sweeps-spoilers-2016-finale-episodes-photos/#!22/the-originals/

The Originals EP Talks Klaus' 'Definitive Loss,' Hayley's Season 4 JourneyAfter three consecutive weeks of major deaths, The Originals went surprisingly easy on its core characters during Friday’s season finale. Of course, the conventional definition of “easy” doesn’t necessarily match up with the Mikaelsons’. TVLine spoke with executive producer Michael Narducci about the episode’s biggest twists — and what they could mean for Season 4 — but first, a quick recap: After revealing his undead status to the Mikaelsons — and murking every last Strix member — Marcel gave Elijah and Kol his one-of-a-kind love bite; as if that wasn’t bad enough, Freya was also poisoned. A desperate Hayley woke a still-hexed Rebekah from her slumber in an attempt to quell Marcel’s rage, but the irreversible damage had already been done. Freya was able to prolong the gang’s collective existence by daggering them and tethering their lives to Klaus, who went on trial for his many, many, many (just assume this goes on for a few more pages) sins. Given that his jury was literally full of his enemies, it should come as no surprise that he ended up with Papa Tunde’s blade embedded within him by the end of the mistrial. Season 3 came to a close with Hayley and Hope carting their caravan of bodies out of New Orleans in search of a cure. And now, it’s time for some answers… TVLINE | Is it at all accurate to call Marcel the Big Bad of Season 4?I definitely think it’s not accurate. Marcel is furious that Davina was so callously put to the side in favor of “Always and Forever,” and when he confronted the Mikaelsons about it, they killed him. And if he hadn’t taken that serum, he’d just be dead, so he has a perfectly valid point. It’s also important to note that Marcel was the King of New Orleans prior to the beginning of this series, and he ruled over a very factious city — there were humans, the werewolves had been expelled and the witches were being held in subjugation. Now, Marcel is going to find himself as the most powerful creature in all the land; the werewolves are still pretty much a non-factor, the humans are down and scared, and the witches have lost their connection to the ancestors. It’s going to be a very different landscape, but it’s still Marcel Gerard. He’s done what he’s done, and how he’ll have to figure out how to live with himself and rule New Orleans. He’s not possessed or evil or a monster by any stretch. Very soon after the end of our finale, because the Elijah line of vampires won’t drop dead, Marcel is bound to figure out that Elijah is still alive. And when he does that, he’ll think, “Maybe Kol’s not dead either. Or Freya.” All he has as collateral is the long-suffering body of his sire, who’s entombed in an undisclosed place. There are a lot of rich, interesting things to play with moving forward. But the question is: Is this family permanently destroyed, and is Marcel going to be their enemy forever? TVLINE | I assume Hayley won’t be able to save everyone on her own. Who might she turn to for help? There were hints in the finale of what Hayley’s next move is going to be. I don’t want to say too much, but I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility that Hayley will look to find a way — either by using her own vampire power or by using a witch — to try to communicate with [everyone in the dream world]. She has a giant puzzle to figure out in order to cure everyone, and given that they’re dying from a wolf bite, I think you can guess who she might turn to. TVLINE | Given the hectic nature of the episode, do you foresee a time jump next season? It’s almost mandatory that there be some sort of time jump. This is a definitive loss on the part of the Mikaelsons. The prophecy predicted they would fall, and they fell. There’s no easy way out of the situation they’re in. Hayley and Marcel are both going to have to start from scratch as he decides how he’s going to deal all these new vampires in town. There’s going to be a lot of story to tell, but I think we’ve painted ourselves into an unbelievable corner, and it’s going to be great fun to get out of this situation. TVLINE | Vincent is our only non-comatose character in New Orleans who might pose a threat to Marcel, should conflict arise. Will we see them at odds? The great thing about Vincent is that he’s his own man. We’ve seen him stand up to the Mikaelsons, and we saw him recognize the courage and beauty of Cami. He has friends who are police officers, and he has witches he’s sworn to protect. He has a strong moral compass, and I think if Marcel stepped out of line further, becoming the kind of king he was when we met him in Season 1, Vincent would step up and have something to say about that. It could also be best for New Orleans if he tries to find peace, and if that’s the case, he’ll be able to do that. TVLINE | Lastly, just out of curiosity: What do you think Hope’s first word(s) will be?[Laughs] I can’t imagine. One question is: Are we, as an audience, going to get to see those first words? If there’s a time jump, maybe not. But given everything that’s happened, and how the Mikaelson family has been so completely deconstructed, Hope is left with no one but Hayley. I’m sure her first word will be “mama.” It’s the person who’s taking care of her right now, it’s got to be “mama.” tvline.com/2016/05/20/the-originals-recap-finale-hayley-leaves-season-4-spoilers/#more-716441

The Originals boss breaks down Klaus' sacrifice, what comes next in season 4
The Originals season 3 finale saw Klaus Mikaelson do the unthinkable: He put his fear of being alone aside in order to sacrifice himself for his siblings. No, he’s not dead. But he is in excruciating pain thanks to Papa Tunde’s blade, which Marcel buried in his chest. And thanks to Klaus, his siblings are hanging out in a safe place created by Freya while Hayley tries to find a way to cure them all of their ailments. We spoke with showrunner Michael Narducci about the show’s finale and what comes next. ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: I’m a little obsessed with the choice to link all of the siblings back to Klaus, the man who has daggered pretty much all of them at one point, and have him be the thing that keeps them alive.MICHAEL NARDUCCI: Yeah I’m obsessed with that too. That was a Julie Plec special. I left the room for a short trip to Atlanta to be there for the filming of episode 19, and I remember Julie called me and said we have this idea, what do you think? I heard it, and I just loved it. I thought it was brilliant. And of course it just makes sense: Elijah and Kol and Rebekah have all been daggered by Klaus, so he is benefited by putting them to sleep and putting them in a kind of time-out, and now they are relying on one of those time-outs, which will force him to be put down and to suffer greatly and to be alone and to be not with his family. One of the things that’s at the core of Klaus’ being is his desire to be with his family. Now, going into our hiatus, Klaus is alone, and it’s terrible. It’s the ultimate sacrifice, and it’s something I don’t think Klaus Mikaelson may have been capable of prior to the person we’ve started to show him to be on our series. And that points to a greater arc on this show. You all have always talked about this show being the story of Klaus’ redemption. I’m not saying this is it — I’m sure he’ll make mistakes — but what is the significance of this moment in the show’s overall arc?I think one thing to keep in mind is, we’re not at the end of our series, so as you said, there’s going to be steps forward and then there’s going to be steps backward. This season was all about Klaus recognizing that last year he may have gone too far — taking down Dahlia involved betraying his family, making Elijah suffer, hurting Marcel, killing Gia, and hurting Hayley. That was a brutal, savage, monstrous thing to do, and everybody called him on it. And then over the course of the season, not only was he confronted by Hayley and Elijah and Lucien, but he also was going through these intense interactions, both therapy sessions and ultimately a romantic connection to Cami — Cami, who proved that someone can become a vampire and still retain their soul and still cling to their values and what makes them human. Klaus saw all of this, and with Cami’s dying words, she told him that he had to be a better man for his daughter. I think all of these things touched a nerve, and we have Klaus in the finale do this selfless thing. But now he’s going to be suffering unendurable agony for who knows how long, and when we see him again, will that choice to be selfless, which resulted in so much pain and agony and solitude — the thing that he fears most — will that actually make him even more of a monster? And remember, he won’t have Cami to help him. That’s going to be one of the great things to play. I’m not saying that we’re going to see Klaus backslide to his most terrible version, but I’m saying that threat exists, and I’m very curious to see who Klaus will be when we see him again. I know this is a decision he makes for a lot of people for a lot of reasons, but I’ve always loved the Elijah-Klaus dynamic, and the idea that after years of Elijah sacrificing himself, Klaus has this opportunity to return the favor. That’s such a huge moment in their journey. It’s pretty massive, and I have to say, one of the scenes that makes me cry every single time I watch the cut is the last scene between Elijah and Klaus. I think it’s two actors really taking the material to another level, and they’re phenomenal. In terms of Hayley, you’ve been building throughout the season that she’s a part of this family, but I’m interested in the decision to put so much responsibility on the shoulders of a person who’s not necessarily a Mikaelson. My feeling is, the story that we told in season 3 was really Hayley becoming definitively one of the Mikaelsons. Hope is absolutely a Mikaelson, and Hope’s mother is a Mikaelson, not maybe in name. She’s not an Original vampire. But she is a part of this family. By the definition of what a family is, Hayley is a part of this family. I think that there’s also a beautiful moment between Klaus and Hayley in the finale — the look that these two give each other of desperation and fear and knowing that they’re hopelessly outmatched, and yet it’s a mother and a father looking at each other and saying, “I’m going to go do this thing, I need you to protect our child, and I know that there’s no one on this planet who will do a better job of protecting this child.” It gives me goosebumps. To go from where we were last season, where they really despised each other and Hayley wanted nothing to do with this family and Klaus was paranoid that she was going to take Hope away and raise Hope to hate him, now we see a completely different dynamic, and that is a story arc that I’m extremely proud of. I don’t know what you have planned for season 4, but can I request we get to see some of the siblings, without Klaus, in that room? In an odd way, Klaus links so many of them, so I’m always intrigued to see them interact without him around.I hear you for sure, and that’s definitely something we want to continue to do, and that was something we did in episode 16 when Klaus and Hayley were on a road trip, and Elijah, Freya, Kol, and Finn are all locked in the compound. So you get these great interactions, and again, I know he died, but Finn had some great scenes with Elijah. I really felt their connection as brothers, and then he made that sacrifice to save his brother, I think we will continue to see that as we explore what’s going on with the Mikaelsons who are in this dreamscape that Freya has created as they lie in hibernation, and how are they going to save themselves? What’s going to be their status once they return? Where is Rebekah? Where is Freya? Where is Kol? Where is Elijah? We definitely want to tell those stories and show those interactions. I also think that all of those siblings know their brother Klaus made the ultimate sacrifice for them; they’ve got to get together and go get their brother, and I love that. I love that for once the siblings deciding, we can’t let our brother Klaus down. He actually did the right thing, and now we’ve got to go find out where he is and what’s going on with him. After season 2, the landscape was wide open, the canvas was blank. We could’ve done anything, and I really love what we did. But going into season 4, we have stories we still need to finish, and I’m very glad that we have the opportunity to do that. www.ew.com/article/2016/05/20/the-originals-season-3-finale-postmortem

How Will The Originals Move Forward After the Devastating Finale?Holy smokes! Every main character on The Originals is down for the count heading into the next season -- at least the ones with the last name Mikaelson. It is the first time in the history of the show that all of the original vampires have been incapacitated at the same time, which creates a completely new terrain for the fourth season. The only hope for the original vampire family now is Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin). At the end of Friday's season finale, she left New Orleans with her baby daughter Hope and four Mikaelson caskets in the back of her truck on the hunt for the cures she needs to bring her family out of the bewitched slumber that is only thing keeping them alive. Executive producer Michael Narducci told TVGuide.com what's to come for The Originals if the Mikaelsons are no longer in charge. What is the status of the Mikaelsons going into Season 4?Michael Narducci: We've talked about the prophecy and how the Mikaelsons would fall. They were trying to stop that prophecy from coming to pass and they didn't stop it. The family fell. Rebekah (Claire Holt) is cursed and she will become a ripper. Freya (Riley Voelkel) is poisoned and she's going to die. Both Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) have been bitten and there is no cure for that bite. [All of them have been linked to] Klaus (Joseph Morgan), [who] has been stabbed with a dark object called the Tunde blade -- which we know causes immeasurable suffering and agony, putting [Klaus] in a pain induced coma. He's been bricked away in some undisclosed tomb. At the end of our season Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Hayley are the only ones left. Marcel is standing somewhat triumphant, although he's lost people that he loves, including his former family. Hayley, with her daughter, is the guardian of these sleeping vampires and on the run. Season 4 is just packed with story potential...What you can definitely assume is that after a time cut, these sleeping giants are going awaken and they are not going to be happy. There's going to be a reunion of all these characters. As to what happens there, I'm going to leave it to the fans to think about and debate amongst themselves. We've got some great stuff planned. Is Marcel a villain now?Narducci: I have never once thought of Marcel as a villain. He has his own code of honor. He wants what's best for the city of New Orleans even if that means he's got to punish and execute the people that would try to disrupt the peace that he has established. He is a leader. He knows what camaraderie is. He has values that are not completely foreign to any of us. He definitely has perspective and the Mikaelsons kind of messed up. They did something that was, by Marcel's judgement, morally reprehensible. Now he's taken his revenge. He's claimed his city and he's gained this power. Marcel is not going to slowly be possessed by the power that he has embraced. He's still the same guy. He's just stronger and more powerful. He will never have to back down from anyone ever again. That is just the most exciting prospect for me, to tell the story of Klaus Mikaelson's heir, who has grown in power and is now the most dangerous creature on the planet. We're going to watch him take back his city and become king and how will he behave? How will he avoid some of the mistakes that his "father" [Klaus] made along the way? Vincent seems wary of Marcel's new power. How will that tension grow next season?
Narducci: Vincent's (Yusuf Gatewood) job as the kind of sheriff -- as the leader of the witches, as the person who believes in doing right by the city of New Orleans -- is going to make sure that Marcel doesn't just follow in the Mikaelson's tracks. Because of his leadership position, he will never again go to the sidelines and let there be injustice in this city. He's going to protect the city of New Orleans and if that means siding with Marcel, then great. If that means that he's got to stand against Marcel, he'll do that as well. Hayley is trying to cure Elijah, Kol, Freya and Rebekah -- but who is going to rescue Klaus?
Narducci: I don't know you should assume that the Mikaelsons are the ones that get Klaus out. Maybe there's some other person that's going to get Klaus out. Maybe Klaus will get himself out. Maybe someone is going to decide that there's a big problem in the world and Klaus Mikaelson is the only person that can help us deal with it. We just found out The Originals won't be back until at least next year. How will the push affect your plans for Season 4?
Narducci: It has absolutely zero effect on the story that we're telling. I think it will be a little bit of a tortuous hiatus for the die-hard fans of the show because we do leave on a bit of a cliffhanger. We are going to have a little bit of a time jump in between when the story ends at the end of the finale and when we pick up in Season 4. That experience in the time jump will be similar to what the audience is feeling. To me, in a way, it actually makes sense. www.tvguide.com/news/the-originals-season-4-narducci-mikaelsons-down-for-count/

The Originals boss blogs finale, talks midseason pick-up for season 4The Mikaelson family is extremely complicated, and who better to untangle that drama than Julie Plec? The Originals showrunner will blog each week’s installment throughout the season exclusively for EW. From answering burning questions to giving behind-the-scenes stories and more, this is a place for fans to hear directly from Plec about the episode they just watched. Dear Friday Night Vampire Club, Thank you for watching the Season 3 finale, “The Bloody Crown,” written by Beau DeMayo & Diane Ademu-John and directed by Matt Hastings. This is my final diary entry of the season, and I wanted to say how nice it’s been sharing the experiences of the season with you. I’ve enjoyed using this forum to tell stories about how and why we do what we do, and to celebrate the people we do it with. As of yesterday, the news broke that The Originals will be returning next year in midseason. Mid-season is one of those annoyingly aspecific designations that could mean any time between January and April. The network usually announces their winter schedule in November-ish. Stay tuned for news. In the meantime, this is a great opportunity for other people to get caught up with the series on Netflix. I don’t mind midseason in theory. I mind not having an airdate, and I mind that we’ll be done filming before we know if we’re picked up for another season, but other than that, a midseason order is a guarantee of higher quality. Why? Because you have TIME. Extra time to write because you’re not shooting 22. Extra time to think. Time to make sure each episode is excellent. Time to fix it if it isn’t. It’s a beautiful luxury that usually only cable shows get, and we’re all very excited to bring you a spectacular season 4. As a final shout-out for the year, I need to give special thanks to Michael Narducci, who carried the heavy load of this season on his shoulders. Season 3 is a terrifying season, because it’s the season that either cements long-term success or the season that gets you canceled before you’ve made anyone any money. Getting a season 4 pick-up means you’ve done it. Your show will live on. Your studio bosses will eventually see a profit. You did not fail. Nardooch gave every piece of his heart and soul and mind and body to The Originals this year, and I am forever grateful. Beau and Diane’s tidbits from set: For Baby Hope’s scene in the truck, the baby — after a whole day of being wide awake hanging with Phoebe [Tonkin] and crew while waiting to shoot her scene, promptly fell asleep for the final scene where she was supposed to do magic as Hayley drives away to end our season. Despite our best efforts to wake her up, she wasn’t having any of it until the very end. We ended up using a shot of her sleeping in the edit. Adorable kids. The chambre location is a full-fledged Georgia farm owned by two later-years ex-boyfriends that housed llamas, roosters (which made a good deal of our audio useless at times), Scottish cows, and an entire lake of ducks at the peak of mating season — far from the peaceful serenity seen on screen, and far more awkward. For the first time on our show, we used a drone to get aerial footage. The cast was excited to have a drone swooping overhead … until the drone operator gave us safety instructions about what to do if the drone “went rogue” — which is run for the nearest indoor shelter, FYI. We were assured that a rogue drone will simply “fly home” and you just had to avoid being in its path, but certain cast members (coughDanielcough) were not so sure we shouldn’t be watching for the first signs of the Rise of the Machines. The trial sequences were shot with three cameras all the way through from when Marcel first interrogates Klaus until Klaus being tunde-bladed. It was like watching the trial play out in real time, unedited. Our actors and their impressive memories did an astounding job performing that very long and very dialogue-heavy scene two or three dozen times as cameras zoomed in and out for various sizes of coverage. Also, after destroying half the compound, the Mikaelson home will likely look a bit different the next go-around. It’s amazing how much Blake and Charlie (the twins who play Hope) have grown under our very noses. Here is a photo of Blake … or is it Charlie, big enough for her own actress chair. www.ew.com/article/2016/05/20/originals-julie-plec-blog-the-bloody-crown

It was kinda meh to me. I honestly don't know what to think or feel, all I know is I was underwhelmed. I'm honestly more excited for TVD season 8 than I am for TO and it surprises me because I didn't think I'd ever be like this again.

It was kinda meh to me. I honestly don't know what to think or feel, all I know is I was underwhelmed. I'm honestly more excited for TVD season 8 than I am for TO and it surprises me because I didn't think I'd ever be like this again. I didn't LOVE it, but I didn't think it was that bad. I knew they were going to have to fulfill the prophecy somehow I was just curious how they were going to do it. I was just glad they didn't kill Kol again because he's turned out to be my favorite Original this season since his return!! These writers can make me quite fickle when it comes to the characters on this particular show. One minute I'll like one character and the next I'll hate them and vice versa! Elijah has always been my favorite character, but he's fallen in my good graces big time this season. He became more ruthless than Klaus has. I was never the biggest Davina fan, but I really came to love her when she got involved with Kol so I was really sad when she died. What Freya and Elijah did to her was horrible to watch. When she was crying and begging them to stop! I've never been a big Marcel fan either except when he was working with the Mikaelsons. I hate it when he's ranting and raving against them, but I could understand his anger towards them after Davina died, but I didn't like him in the finale when he got all holier than thou. That's the Marcel I don't like. I couldn't stand Vincent when he was Finn, but now that he's normal he's become one of my favorite characters. I use to be a Hayley/Elijah shipper in S1, but I got over it when they put her with Jackson and really loved them. Now the thought of her and Elijah together again makes me . I love the friendship that has developed between Hayley and Klaus. I don't care for them in a romantic way, but I love how far they've come since last season into two parents trusting each other and wanting to protect their daughter and considering each other family now. See like I said fickle!!! I'm very curious to see how they're going to get out of this mess and who's going to help Hayley cure all of the siblings!!! This should be interesting. As long as Kol sticks around I don't care what happens! It just sucks that we have to wait till mid-season for it to return!!! I am glad that you're enjoying TVD though.

I actually really liked the finale. I love how even though Marcel had the advantage of power, Klaus still got his bidding done. He manipulated the situation for his family's sake which was getting Marcel to make Klaus suffer rather then killing him all together.
I liked the twist of marcel being the big bad to take over and the fact that all the siblings now are linked to Klaus. I also like how they trusted Hayley with this big responsibility of their lives to go ahead and figure it out to find 3 different cures for such drastic situations. I feel like they should time jump it to match Vampire diaries so we can see possibly cross overs. Im excited for season 4 and I hope it gets here quick.
