By the way, in my re-watch of Season Five, I suddenly noticed that there are bird prints on the wall of the Salvatore boarding house, and the most noticeable are the ones of redbirds, Damon's nickname for Bonnie in the TVD books.

If I was a writer for this show, I would write an epic Bamon rain kiss scene. and be smug as hell about it.

They have the chemistry. You can't fake that, as actors they just connect. Honestly I think because of Ian and Nina's personal lives altered their on screen chemistry. When they were dating, their on screen chemistry was undeniable...but once their personal lives changed you could see the shift. You could "see" the acting. It was no longer natural. But Kat and Ian have a natural chemistry.

But Kat and Ian have a natural chemistry. I was just speculating the same thing to myself about Paul and Nina by the end of Season Two. I don't really know when Nina and Ian actually began to be together openly, but in some sense, I wonder if Paul in some way mirrors his real relationship with Nina, whom he has talked about, in recent years, as a sister, in Stefan's relationship with Elena. It's a job of course but it may be The Atlanta Effect. Everyone is ultimately a real person working very long hours together in a closed environment.
