Maybe Valerie is a Gemini? Or the Heretic's witchcraft comes from Gemini??? Hi Kiki. I may be mis-remembering but I thought the Heretics had been kicked out of the Gemini coven because they were siphoners like Kai. Oh dear, is it time for another chart?? Sooooo.... what causes Geminis like Kai and Heretics who don't have their own magic? A genetic fail? Why not keep them in prison until their witchcraft batteries run low? Oh wait someone did just that but who? And how did they become vampires too?

You are correct demetra, the heretics originated from the gemini coven

I'm not 100% sure what causes the heretics to be born without their own powers, but I know they were exiled from the gemini coven because they were siphoners and they were all turned by Lily. The gemini coven sent the heretics and Lily to the prison world using the ascendant before the heretics could wipe out the gemini coven. I think I got that right haha Oh and their witchcraft batteries wouldn't run low because they can continually siphon the magic of being a vampire. The only thing that slowed them down was dessicating from lack of blood to feed on...

Gemini witches can be turned into vampires and keep their magic. So are Gemini witches even stronger than Bennett witches? Seems so... I know Lily turned the Heretics into vampires but what made them keep their magic afterwards. Is it genetic? Do they know a special spell to keep their magic? Ok, they don't have magic but if they are normal humans who can become vampires and only siphon their magic somehow wouldn't every human be able to learn that trick? Or at least Bonnie could learn how to siphon extramagic?

Or at least Bonnie could learn how to siphon extramagic? I think it's all to do with the siphoning powers - because they don't naturally have their own magic but need to siphon magic, so being a vampire which is magical allows them a continual source of magic. Silly I know. Where as a Bennett witch has natural magic and can't be two supernatural things at once.... Dying and becoming a vampire cancels out their magic as they are no longer living and can't call on the earth or Mother Nature etc I know what your trying to get at kiki, it's sort if silly how the writers have done it because it makes them even more powerful than Esther. I think it's pretty much they are born Gemini witches who have a witchy glitch which is that they don't have their own powers they can only siphon pores from magic, they siphoned as humans before becoming vamps which led to them being exiled from the gemini coven, when Lily turned them they were able to continually siphon the vampire side of themselves. I'm not sure why they were born powerless ? Or if it's genetic as they haven't really delved into that much...

As others elsewhere have commented, it is sure smelling a lot like maybe Stefan's child didn't die. Valerie says she knew the Gemini chant because she'd used it on her own unborn child. What I can't figure out is when, exactly did she do this? While Julian is beating her, she drops the amulet from which she siphons power and it breaks (or Julian steps on it, I can't remember). We are led to believe that after he beats her unconscious, he carries her back to Lily on the departing ship. She spends a day or so (more?) unconscious, and eventually wakes and drowns herself in the bathtub. So A) when would she have been able to do the chant, since she was in Julian's presence the entire time? and B) wouldn't she need magic for the spell to work? Her amulet was destroyed. And furthermore, when telling Caroline the story, she made it sound like she learned the spell/chant in order to use it for that purpose (save her child), so does that mean she planned ahead and took a precaution as soon as she found out she was pregnant? Because it's not like she was able to do a quick Googles search while she was being kicked in the stomach! The timeline just doesn't add up for me....

The baby was dead ok but isn't it about it's soul? Jo's babies died with her weeks ago and yet they made it into Caroline's body

I think the suggestion might be that the Gemini transferred the babies just after Jo was stabbed. They were in Caroline all along, but had been "invisiqued" or cloaked inside her. On Thursday, Valerie sucked up the cloaking spell from Caroline that had been hiding the bebes.

If she knew the spell why wasn't she able to save her baby? Does it only work on twins maybe? Or do you need more than one Gemini witch to make it work? Joe's babies were saved by the chants of many witches. Or was it because she already lost the baby and tried too late to save it? Or maybe it did work but she doesn't know to which woman she transfered the baby? And something else crossed my mind. Can it be possible that only Gemini witches born as twins have real magic and those born as single child need to siphon their magic?

But technically fraternal twins like Jo and Kai are singletons, they just happen to have been conceived from different eggs at the same time. I'm still not sure Valerie didn't save her baby. She may have thought she didn't -- but maybe she did. All evidence to the contrary. What can I say? I'm #Stelena.

Oh I am guessing the baby is alive for sure. The show is very predictable at this point. So if they mention it or hint at anything believe its part of some plot. So yes stefens child is out there and probably super into katherines relative. Calling it now.

Ok, I decided to post here because my mind is running amok with all these Phoenix/fire theories. The Phoenix is a bird who "dies in a fire of its own making only to rise again from the ashes" - it's a symbol of purification and resurrection. It cannot be a coincidence that immediately following the burning of Elena's body, Enzo brings Rayna back to life in a fire. And then in the promo for 7x13 Damon says to Rayna, "You look a lot like my girlfriend and her three doppelgangers."
I wondered if the casting of Lesley-Ann Huff (who looks a lot like Nina) was intentional, and now I think it definitely was. Maybe the huntress can take on different appearances. What if the magic of the Phoenix stone compelled Damon to burn Elena's body (a fire of the bird's own making) not to teach Damon a lesson but precisely so Rayna could rise from the ashes? Is it in fact a kind of resurrection where Rayna will take on not only Elena's physical features but her personality/feelings/characteristics? Will Damon be drawn to her because of it?
I am still processing this but I love when the show digs into the mythology and executes it well. Remains to be seen how well, but I'm intrigued!

As of the week after 7:12 has aired: who thinks that both Elena and Julian are indeed dead?
