Also, depending on product placement support, the characters all seem to switch their phones at the same time anyway LOL In terms of the time jump, they were lagging behind a couple of years anyway, due to senior year in high school taking two seasons. Also I guess no more Whitmore College -- unless Alaric will still be with the show?

Don’t worry, “Vampire Diaries” fans. Damon and Stefan Salvatore are only gone for the summer. “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 will rise from the dead in October, the CW has announced. The supernatural drama will remain in its Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT timeslot, but it will no longer be followed by “Reign.” The “TVD” spinoff, “The Originals,” will air afterwards. Fans can expect new episodes to start on Thursday, Oct. 8. “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 will bring plenty of changes. The Season 6 finale featured Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) exit, which means the show will no longer focus on her love triangle with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley). So how will the show work without its main character? “This season the triangle of Elena may be off in the ether,” executive producer Kevin Williamson said at ATX Television Festival earlier this month. “But guess what? There is a lot of story to tell. A lot of great, emotional, tear jerking, epic, scary and thrilling story to tell … I think.” Executive producer Julie Plec added that Season 7 will focus on Caroline (Candice Accola), who never really had the best luck. “At the end of the pilot, she says, ‘Why doesn’t anybody ever pick me?'" Plec explained. “You realize, here’s a girl who’s trying so hard to matter and she’s over trying, she’s overcompensating. What you’ve done in a TV series is you’ve set up a girl, that by the end of her run as a character, she will be the one that gets picked first.” That likely means that her love story with Stefan will get more screen time. When viewers last saw the couple, Caroline said she wasn’t ready to be in a relationship with him. However, Stefan declared his love and said he’d wait for her. It sounds like fans can look forward to watching Stefan win Caroline over when “TVD” returns. Of course, viewers can also anticipate darker stories too. Damon won’t handle Elena’s absence too well. “The story is just going to change form and I think that we get to go back to this really awesome dark, edgy, volatile [story]—all the s--- that we all love,” Somerhalder told Entertainment Weekly in May. www.ibtimes.com/vampire-diaries-season-7-premiere-date-revealed-when-will-stefan-caroline-return-1982345

Found this online, I've read CDs statement about Bamon many times but I don't really agree with all of Plecs Damon statement. What about Stefaaaaaaaannnn!!!!!! "Unfortunately for Graham, a romance between Bonnie and Damon is probably not likely, teased executive producer Caroline Dries. "The problem is that ... he [Damon] is still so madly in love with her [Elena]. It would feel false for him to meet someone else and have sparks and fall in love. The viewers also wouldn't embrace it; any girl who comes close to Damon gets clawed at with their opinions, so it's not something we're going to jump into as writers right away," reports Movie Pilot. TVD creators Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson also opened up about Damon's future during the ATX Television Festival. "The Season 1 version of Damon is the straight villain with what we learned was an obsession with a woman who just happened to look like our lead woman. And then over time that grew into a love story and it grew into a hero story and it grew into a redemption story. So, he went through all those chapters. He went through redemption. He went through hero -- at least partially, the root of him as a sassy, 'take no prisoners, do what you got to do to get it done,' anti-hero is still very much there," said Plec, according to CrossMap. Because Elena will be M.I.A., "he now has more freedom to kind of be messy with his choices. I think you'll see a darker Damon with the sort of wisdom of his experience, but a freedom to act out as he may feel like he needs to," she explained, according to MTV."

I thought Elena made Damon a better person. Isn't that what CD and JP rammed down our throats for the last 3 seasons. So why is Damon going to be just like he was in Season 1?
Oh now I get it, when he was with Elena, he pretended to be good person and now that Elena is not around he can actually be himself. He loved Elena so much he didn't even what to change for her.

Yeah that last sentence above I was like "so what are you saying??? He's pretty much going to be the same except Elena's not here anymore to be his excuse, now her absence is his excuse!!! He's pretty much always made messy choices and he always acts out regardless of wether it concerns anyone else. So basically he's going to be same same but he's going to go back to being Damon of season 1, but while being allowed to be selfish dicky Damon because he's lost Elena? Elena isn't even dead!!!! What's 60 or 70 years to a vampire? He'll get to see her again as long as he doesn't get staked. Which that'll never happen. What about Rick? ? That's the bloke I feel more sorry for. His wife and babies aren't coming back, I hope they do some justice to Alaric's grieving process. What about how Bonnie deals with the loss of her best friend and knowing Elena can only wake if she dies - that's something worthy of going a little koo koo over. I hope they explore Bonnie and Caroline's relationship a bit too.The bulk of what you read pertaining to S7 focus's on Damon. I want to know what's happening with the other characters too! Sorry not trying to be ranty about Damon but they haven't given us much to go on regarding other characters for S7 so it always comes back to him.....

tvline.com/2015/06/30/vampire-diaries-season-7-spoilers-new-characters-lesbians/TVLine has learned that three new vampires will be thrown into the mix when the CW drama returns (Oct. 8, 8/7c), including the show’s first same-sex couple. (Note: This is all based on preliminary casting intel. It’s still early, so the particulars of any or all of these roles are subject to change.) First up are Nora and Mary Louise, a dangerous duo of down-low lovers with murderous tendencies. The vampires, both turned in their mid-20s, have kept their relationship a secret for more than a century, and although their connection is clear to those able to infiltrate their inner circle, Mary Louise’s constant doting can sometimes feel a bit smothery for fiery Nora’s liking. Still, anyone foolish enough to cross either of them will feel both their wraths. In addition to the aforementioned twosome, we’ll also be meeting Valerie, another 20-something vampire who relies on her dry sense of humor to counter a life of pain and dismissal. She’ll encounter someone who helps her remember the happier, free spirit she once was — and she’ll do whatever it takes to keep him in her life. Nora and Mary Louise are obviously spoken for — by each other — but it sounds like Valerie could potentially mix it up with one of Mystic Falls’ many eligible bachelors.

Was hoping for a few more characters just to liven things up. Would it be too much to ask that Valerie mix it up with Stefan? Stefan could use some humor in his life but I'm sure CD will put her with Matt or Alaric tho.

I stumbled across this yesterday on FB and thought -Yesssss!!!!!! Some fresh faces would be good. Especially after my last post about most spoilers/ info for S7 being mainly about Damon. So it's good to hear some other things even if it doesn't end up happening, thanks for posting Kiki When I read the comments on FB quite a alot of ppl wrote a lesbian relationship on TVD will force them to stop watching, a lot of the other comments didn't even concern the introduction of the new characters but instead pleaded and focused on Nina having left and how the shows ruined without her and DE, but also quite a few ppl were all for the introduction of the 3 new female characters. I think the writers might be thinking hmmm, we are probably going to lose a chunk of fans due to No more DE so maybe they are trying to entice a few more older viewers back with a bit more of a grown up show? Hmmm maybe... it was hilarious reading the comments about the article on FB - some people didn't even bother to read it but jumped straight to conclusions like "it better not be Damon, if he turns gay I will be devastated and never watch it again" or "maybe Stefan turns gay" hahaha Read the article ppl it states that it's two females.... The show is missing a strong, sassy, murderous female vampire since Katharine's demise so hopefully these two cause a bit of havoc and shake things up a bit! Yes there's already speculation about Valerie being with Alaric or Matt.... Since Matt is pretty anti vampire these days not sure how open he'd be to a vampire GF. Im looking forward to some new meat - spice things up a bit please!!!!

Stefan could use some humor in his life but I'm sure CD will put her with Matt or Alaric tho. She could be the 'blast from Stefan's past' they teased about a few months ago. Guarantee there will be another woman in the mix to stir things up between him and Caroline.

www.tvguide.com/news/vampire-diaries-caroline-stefan/"I feel like six seasons is a nice, long slow-burn, so I'm excited to see these characters together," Accola tells us in the video above. "Usually, it's so immediate, especially on our series ... but in real life, it's the person you can be yourself in front of in the most dorky way. Both of these characters have seen the worst in each other and they still like each other and I think that's really cool and that's really special."

Paul agrees, and even went as far as to suggest that the hit CW series will end with Steroline becoming the ultimate couple. “I think Stefan — and the writers — want him and Caroline to be the endgame: the match,” he confessed, clearly optimistic that Steroline’s strong connection will lead to a great romance. “There’s humor, there’s a sexiness, and there’s a friendship [that we bring to the characters].” vampirediaries.alloyentertainment.com/stefan-caroline-season-7-spoilers-70615/

Seems like candice and paul are the only ones who realize there are fans who are not focused on damon or ian. I also like how paul distances hinself from steroline. He always says "i think the writers want....stefan wants.... " looks like he would like it different

For me they are better off as friends not lovers.
