Ask joerg.howe@daimler.com why Mercedes Benz is demolishing an historic building in immaculate condition? Please RT and spread the word! The Salvatore Mansion faces immediate demolition! Can you believe this? The building contents were apparently auctioned off last week and an order has been issued to demolish it for early April. The 86-year-old building is in excellent condition. JUST SAY NO! clatl.com/freshloaf/archives/2015/03/25/glenridge-hall-faces-demolition-in-the-near-future

Why doesn't some smart Investor buy it and turn is into a B&B for crazy TVD fans?

The estate has already been purchased for development. The house will be razed for the Atlanta relocation of the headquarters of Mercedes Benz USA. But the Manor is in an immaculate state of preservation. The heritage folks are calling the demolition the most unnecessary they've ever seen.

Please send respectful letters of request to rescind the demolition permit and work together to save this nationally-listed historic building to:
Bpoole@sandyspringsga.gov Kbalogh@ashtonwoodshomes.com Joerg.howe@daimler.com Tom.wasson@sesi.net
It is very important to be very civil and respectful. Or we could hasten their resolve to tear it down. Nothing they have done is illegal. It just needs a re-think!
Thanks to each person who has Tweeted, shared, signed the petition, or Liked the Facebook page.
Here's what I sent:
This morning at 6 am we learned that a demolition permit has been issued for Glenridge Hall in Sandy Springs, Georgia. This beautiful building has been on the National Register of Places since 1982. We also understand that the structure is fully intact and in immaculate condition.
Our greatest hope is that you can find a way to work together on your development project that will retain, respect and preserve Glenridge Hall.
I am following this issue quite closely and notice that 2300 people have signed a Change.Org petition to Ashton Woods to please save the manor today alone.
It is our thought that Mercedes Benz is the ideal corporate neighbour to incorporate, preserve and respect a true classic in its development plans.
Thank you very much for your kind attention to my request.
Yours truly,
Demetra Christakos

I signed the petition as well, not only because I'm a TVD fan, but it's a beautiful building that needs to be preserved. I hope they reconsider and save it.

Thank you, Kiki, @dman24, shoe20, jennifer, bonbon, and everyone who has responded to the call. I have had two responses to the email I sent. Both have said that it was the family's decision to sell the manor and acquire the demolition permit. They also reiterated that they had been looking for a way to save Glenridge Hall for some time. It is a shame we only heard about this on Thursday, not a year ago when the whole thing must have been going down. Obviously everyone was keeping it quiet so we wouldn't be able to impact the sale. Can you imagine how many signatures the petition would have today if the call had gone out a year ago? The preservation legislation in the US doesn't override the rights of the property owners. I have seen many unique historic structures torn down despite community efforts to try to save them. This time it is a bit more frustrating that a corporate giant like Mercedes Benz was willing to relocate its USA headquarters from NJ to Atlanta to this property but not able to be a preservation partner in saving Glenridge Hall.

Everyone knows how much TVD fans can reach if they stick together
