I adore Live's "I Alone"!! That whole album was amazing! Wow, another Live fan! I love that album too, and I was about to mention where the title came from but you beat me to it. Hmm... another song from 1994. They're really trying to hammer that home, aren't they? BTW, here's the Lyrics to that song. The chorus is probably what we should be paying attention to. "I Alone"it's easier not to be wise and measure these things by your brains I sank into Eden with you alone in the church by and by I'll read to you here, save your eyes you'll need them, your boat is at sea your anchor is up, you've been swept away and the greatest of teachers won't hesitate to leave you there, by yourself, chained to fate I alone love you I alone tempt you I alone love you fear is not the end of this! it's easier not to be great and measure these things by your eyes we long to be here by his resolve alone in the church by and by to cradle the baby in space and leave you there by yourself chained to fate oh, now, we took it back too far, only love can save us now, all these riddles that you burn all come runnin' back to you, all these rhythms that you hide only love can save us now, all these riddles that you burn yeah, yeah, yeah

amimi and @dman24, Live is amazing. I didn't know "I alone", but I remember these... Some of my favourite songs from the 90's

A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL — Damon (Ian Somerhalder) finds himself in hot water after he carries out a plan that requires Alaric’s (Matt Davis) unwilling participation. When Elena (Nina Dobrev) shares some hopeful news with Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) about Bonnie (Kat Graham), she is caught off guard by his reaction. Liv (guest star Penelope Mitchell) helps Damon and Elena with their plan to get Bonnie back, but when things take an unexpected turn, she’s left with a difficult choice to make. Elsewhere, Matt (Zach Roerig) takes matters into his own hands when Enzo’s (Michael Malarkey) actions cross the line, and Kai’s (guest star Chris Wood) existence continues to be a dangerous threat. Paul Wesley and Michael Trevino also star. Kellie Cyrus directed the episode written by Brian Young & Holly Brix (#609). Original airdate 12/4/2014 CW

Laughing is just going to be my default reaction to everything now. Ridiculous deserves ridiculousness.

I couldn't place it until listening to the video you posted in the Music section @dman24. Reading the lyrics, I wondered about Bonnie. Maybe she'll start to wonder why she's stuck in Kai's hell "chained to her fate," whether this was Gram's intention for her or a sideline trip for Damon. "Only love can save us now" possibly references that Bonnie will accept her fate, only to discover the love of her friends saves her. I also thought of Silas/Amara, the doppelganger spell. There were many biblical references in the SL last year. The SL won't literally come back into play, but maybe there's still something Stefan & Elena need to know about their fates. (I'd like to know if the doppel spell is completely gone!)

There were many biblical references in the SL last year. The SL won't literally come back into play, but maybe there's still something Stefan & Elena need to know about their fates. (I'd like to know if the doppel spell is completely gone!) Why wouldn't it be? I mean the purpose of it for Markos was to get the doppelgangers in close proximity of one another, true? So he could harness the power of the blood. Since other doppelgangers will no longer be appearing on the show per Plec, it seems like that SL is dead and buried. And they used it for what they needed, a pretty craptacular plot device. Why really was the spell significant? Could only Markos use the doppel blood? When did Markos die and go to the otherside the first time? If the point of the spell was to get the doppels together, why did Tatia not find her Silas/Stefan/Tom equivalent? If the travelers knew the doppel blood could reverse the magical curse keeping them apart why not come in on Katherine/Stefan? Were their other times they could have swooped in and gotten doppel blood? Did it matter if the doppels became other supernaturals (vampires in this case)? I could go on and on and on if I thought it mattered. Bottom line is the doppel spell and the Markos travellers SL was poorly conceived and shabbily written, that brought up more questions than it answered and lit a fire to the mythology of doppelgangers that had been established up until that point. The writers alter things for loopholes to push storylines that they decide to pursue, they actually do not give a flying eff if in the end it makes sense. They don't care. and considering the showrunner for the last season and this one (Dries) has stated she is terrible at mythology are we to be surprised they screw it up so badly?

and... why was Klaus hunting for Katherine and Elena's blood when he had Stefan the doppelgänger right at hand in the 1920ies???

and... why was Klaus hunting for Katherine and Elena's blood when he had Stefan the doppelgänger right at hand in the 1920ies??? That was a brilliant realization. However, I think it had to be Tatia's doppelganger to undo Klaus's curse. Hard to believe we have become so nuanced in this area, would be a great chapter in Ric's occult studies course.

Consider yourself SPOILER WARNED and take a look below at what is set to go down:
Damon will carry out a plan that require’s Alaric’s unwilling participation. Elena will be shocked by Jeremy's reaction to positive news about Bonnie. Liv will be left with a tough choice to make after trying to help bring Bonnie back. Matt will take matters into his own hands (we told you!) after Enzo crosses a line. Kai will remain a dangerous threat. Which of these teases leaves you most intrigued?
