The CW has released a description for the October 20th episode of The Originals.
THE MIKAELSONS’ CHILDHOOD AND SONJA SOHN (“THE WIRE”) GUEST STARS AS NEW WITCH LENORE — When Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) receive a cryptic invitation to dinner from their mother Esther, who continues to inhabit the body of Harvest girl Cassie (guest star Natalie Dreyfuss), they find themselves preparing for the worst. With the help of a new witch named Lenore (guest star Sonja Sohn), Klaus, Elijah and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) attempt to stay one step ahead of Esther, but things quickly take an unexpected turn. While Elijah finds himself reluctantly teaming up with Gia (guest star Nishi Munshi), a newly-turned vampire, Hayley is faced with an enticing proposition about her new status as a Hybrid after a startling encounter with Esther. Finally, Esther reveals a shocking secret about Klaus’ childhood and unveils her ultimate plan for her children. Charles Michael Davis also stars.
Dermott Downs directed the episode written by Christopher Hollier

Esther still amazes me how horrible she's been. Gave Klaus a necklace/talisman that he believed was protecting him but was actually weakening him to cover her own ass. Klaus took regular beatings from Mikael and the entire time, had the power to best him but his mother was essentially keeping him in a position to get his ass kicked. Disgusting.
Finn really isn't higher up on the ladder. Seeing him as a kid waiting around and then his outburst at the dinner at Elijah. Also him being willing on TVD to sacrifice himself. Ugh.
So Esther's end game is to keep her children alive now but to jump them to new bodies so she can still go about wiping out Vampires? And she's going to attempt to destroy their lives to break them and make them come begging for that change. Did she think this through? You destroy everything they care for with the goal of having them come to you? Hey Dumb Dumb, you're mortal and so is pretty much everyone under you. They're immortal. Last thing you should be looking to do is pissing them off and leaving them with nothing left to lose. Klaus and Elijah have proven to be the last Originals you want to F with.
And really, all of Marcel's behind the scenes stuff makes me think less of his character. I just don't like it. Wanting Gina for no other purpose than to get Elijah as muscle for the new Vamps so he can get back in the Quarter with his new Vampire family since he got the last one killed. The guy is so hell bent on being back in the Quarter/in power of Vampires that I'm starting to think the 'family' angle is no more than a convenient cover for those goals.

Again awesome episode, I hate Esther and Finn...barf, Finn is such a slimy eel.
I have to rewatch this episode as I have watched it in a hurry today morning and didnt get the entire story, but really Momma Original and her sidekick Finn are so super annoying and despiccable.
A good thing that Kol is having some thoughts of his own meanwhile...or NOT, you never know with this lot!
Cheers!

I like how Kol is said to be the wildest of them and that Finn believes even he has sided against Elijah and Klaus. Can't wait for Kol to play his own hand against Finn. Kol really is going to be the wildcard in this of the children. We know where everyone else stands but I think Davina may be the thing that sways him, despite having her own plans for Klaus with Mikael. She may have to get involved in family matters if Esther's play is rushing her and she can't break the sire link for Marcel and Josh in time. But even then, she may be forced into action cause Esther has made it clear she's looking at Vampire genocide and wouldn't let Marcel and Josh stand.

I don't think Davina will be able to unlink the vampires fom Klaus. This episode was so intense, I am still flabbergasted. Watched second time meanwhile. Was very tough. And I think Davina will take whichever side Marcel and Josh are. What do you think of Gia, do I smell a new romance there with Elijah and her? Woulden't blame him either. Hayley is so arrrggghhh!!! Annoying, never liked her, never will, don't want to.

Annoying, never liked her, never will, don't want to. I think she'll soon realize that and will decide to help Klaus for the sake of Marcel and Josh. Perk of that being she has Mikael in tow. Question is, after this realization she can't kill Klaus without killing her friends, what will she do with Mikael? I kind of want to see Elijah move past Hayley cause there is just too much trouble involved there (mother of his niece and all) and they can't seem to get the car out of the garage and down the street in this relationship so I'd say move on. They both obviously want it but can't make the jump or have other crap always springing up. I like Gia so far, aside from the Marcel angle =\ I'm hoping that through her time spent with Elijah, she comes clean on Marcel's goals to simply use him for a power gain but has also come to the realization she really enjoys their time together and doesn't want that hanging in the back of her mind any longer. Clearing the air, Elijah would have a chance at something his own...unless Esther gets involved or Hayley lets her heightened emotions start playing out.

The comparison with the car is spot on and Hayley is projected her own fears and doubts and angst on poor Elijah...I don't like to see Elijah hurt, he is of honor and noble. The Question is is Gia to be trusted One thing is clear, they all have to work together to defeat Esther, Finn and Mikael. Davina could easily send Mikael back to limbo or dark void, the other side is gone...but I am sure she can get rid of him again. On a sidenote: The plague Ollie made me laugh in this episode: When he was having a convo with Hayley about her taking him out to not raise suspision...he said: "Fine, but don#t hit my face" hahaha ROFL.

Mikael and Esther can go either way in all this. If Esther becomes aware of Mikael, could she just as well steal him away from Davina? She claims she loves her children but I wouldn't put it past her to do the above and then use him as a means to break Klaus. Then again, if Mikael should become free again, would Esther defend Klaus from his attacks? The writers can really take allegiances in multiple directions alone with both parents in play. And I think given Finn's attitude last episode, he could be corrupted by his jealousy. Esther trying to pull Klaus & Elijah back into the fold wouldn't be of any benefit to him. In fact, if he finds out about Mikael, I can see him trying to use him as well to kill Klaus for keeping him sealed away during near the entirety of his Vampire life and to finally be rid of him.
