So much pessimism guys....wow. I still love Stelena but since I have started watching the show over again without shipper preferences, I realized, this show is not that bad or poorly written. Do they get kind of fan service-y at times when it comes to ships? Sure, but I think they do that for ratings and not story purpose. I understand the criticism of CD because I, too, have taken her to task at times. However, I don't think she is a terrible writer. She has written some great episodes for my other favorite show Smallville. She tends to lean too much on the relationship driven stuff instead of plot driven stuff. Which is why it was a poor decision to make her the de facto showrunner last year. She dropped the ball. But I ask you all to at least give this early part of the season a chance.

I'm sorry but if that episode is any indicator of how this season is playing out color me unimpressed because that was absolutely lifeless *enter terrible vampire jokes here*. And it had nothing to do with Delena. Just groan worthy scenes lacking emotional resonance. And I am guessing the completely ridiculous way they are keeping the illusion of the "triangle" around is compelling Elena (as hinted in the previews) paving the way to an emotional reunion for Delena midseason and an epiphany moment for Steroline (*dry heave*) shortly after that. I have more to say but I need another drink. a strong one.

Maybe CD has written some good episodes in the past but tonight's episode has to go in her dud file, because it was not good. Maybe I've been spoiled be recently rewatching Veronica Mars (that show had some amazing writing) but even casting aside the ship wars, the TVD writing has been slacking and this season premiere isn't helping it gain momentum as it can do at the beginning of the season. Never thought I would say this but I think one of the better scenes was Tyler and Liv in the hallway, I actually felt emotion towards Tyler's character in that scene. go figure.

I will have to respectfully disagree with your assumption of the episode. I thought it was actually pretty good. It showed how all the characters are dealing with the fallout from losing Damon and Bonnie. I think this season has potential but I am going forward with cautious optimism. The scooby gang is so broken and splintered right now and I just hope the show explores all of their personal journeys back to each other and their ultimate goal of getting back to MF instead of just making it a Delena heavy season again. Crossing fingers and keeping a positive approach going forward.

I hated everything but the Stefan scenes in this episode. It's just the Delena-Diaries. Stefan is a sidecharacter with less screen time than Tyler or Matt... it's sad what has become out of this once amazing show. Just when I thought Elena couldn't become more coldhearted she calls Stefan and cries about Damon to him. Did she completely forget that she is the love of his life and this is hurting him? But why should she care about his feelings. She doesn't care about anyone anyway. So who's the hero and heroine of the show now? Which season theme did they introduce in the premiere? What will season 6 be about? I cannot see any new mythology or any plan or any goal at all. All they did introduce was more Delena crying... The only hope I have is that Delena was so vanilla in this episode it reminded me of Stelena at the beginning of season 4. So again I have hope that we'll see the end of Delena soon. But even if they end it. Do I still want Stelena? I am not sure. Vamplena is not worth a penny anymore. And watching Stefan moving on with this new girl... maybe he can fall in love again. Maybe Lexi was right and he can find another love of his life. What makes me angry is that they pretend that season 1-3 never happened. But Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson wrote Dawson's Creek and it looks like they just copied the pattern. The first couple never got back together in Dawson's Creek either, didn't they? For me TVD ended on the rooftop in season 4. Now I'm just watching the Delena Diaries because there is a little Stefan in it

I am a firm believer in mean what you say so when you start a series off saying things like stefen and elena will always be the heart of the show or they will always find there way back to each other or all the other crap they said and now it is meaningless. Also the only big badhas been silas and tessa since klaus and that took a season and a half to kill them off in seven episodes. I could maybe stomach delena if there was something elses good on the screen.

Little bit late to this discussion but... I've recently been catching up and wondered why or how Jeremy is living in magic-less mystic falls and isn't dead. The vampires can't go in because with the magic that brought them back to life gone them they are just dead humans. As magic brought Jeremy back to life, TWICE if I remember correctly, why doesn't he die when he enters mystic falls?

Yes, magic brought him back, but the act was already committed, which makes the rules in Mystic Falls null and void. Jeremy is a living, breathing human being; vampires are not. The only way they are alive is by magic. Take the magic away and they're dead.

Why when he got brought back from the other side was he only a wolf and not a vampire?

That makes sense. But now I'm still confused about Tyler, why did he come back from the other side as just a wolf? Where did his vampire side go?
