Ok, this is totally preemptive and I have a feeling that Alaric and Enzo are going to get along like oil and water BUT I have good feelings about this frienemy coupling. I know I am not alone on this, right? Team Chest Hair is taking Season 6 over. Believe it!

What if the Alaric & Elena rumor becomes a Season 6 thing?! crimmyj: Absolutely not!!!!!!!! That would be beyond gross!!! He's like a father/brother to her, and I don't think the writers would risk that special relationship by putting them together. Not only would it alienate fans with its nauseating effects, it would also make Alaric look like a total sleazeball for taking advantage of Elena in her vulnerable state, and worse, betraying his best friend. So I hope that's just a rumor, cause it would be a terrible idea in practice.

I mean if you think about it, Elena sleeping with Damon is also kinda gross since he did sleep with and sire her mother Isobel. Whom Ric was married to at the time. So Ric owes Damon one... in a very eww sort of way. I wanted Lexi to come thru and be Ric's new lady love/partner in vampyrism. I would have shipped their day drinkin sooo hard.

They kind of have a big bother or father figure thing going, not to mention he could never do that to Damon Even if he's dead. Not going to happen!

So happy this is a thread cause I think they are going to be the best frenemy match up ever! With the common goal of saving Damon, they will be forced to talk to eachother, but man will they not like each other, they are way too different. Both are impulsive and strong, but one has a much better heart than the other (and cares more about the human race), and both are very stubborn, that does not make for a good friendship. I bet they'll have some epic disagreements!

debbie I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am for the Alaric Enzo dynamic. At first I was ambivalent about season 6 with Bon and Damon potentially being MIA but when it was announced that Matt Davis and Michael Malarkey would be returning as regulars I was stoked about the possibilities. Particularly with Ric there is going to be so much to explore because he is back as a vampire, and he has never really had to adjust to that because he shuffled off the Mystic Falls mortal coil so quickly that we have yet to see how good Ric adjusts to being this ubervamp. I've always considered Alaric the heart or center of this show that seasons 4 and 5 were out of wack because of his absence. SO EXCITED for Team Chest Hair! I might need to make tshirts.

Haha sehr lustig crimmyj. Ich gesehen habe, dass kommt. lol But seriously, that would be a bad idea. Though him and Lexi: I wouldn't mind that! It's sad it couldn't happen, cause they might have been a pretty good couple. Surprisingly, I don't have any issues with Damon sleeping with Elena even though he "sired" her mother. It's not like they're related to each other. Plus, the whole siring thing happen after Elena was born, so it's really not a big deal. The thing is though, some fans are offended by this whole siriing situation with Isobel, yet they have no problem with the fact that Damon technically "sired" Elena and is sleeping with her. I mean.... she's essentially his daughter, yet everyone just brushes that off. What??? Fans shouldn't exaggerate and judge these situations from human perspectives cause it's just not the same thing. Morals might have to compromised to enjoy these shows.

Both are impulsive and strong, but one has a much better heart than the other (and cares more about the human race), and both are very stubborn, that does not make for a good friendship. I bet they'll have some epic disagreements! It's interesting that this thread immediately jumped into a discussion about an Alaric/Elena rumor. I didn't personally read or hear that rumor, but it reminds of the changes that take place when someone becomes a vampire on this show. I'm not sure what will happen, if anything, between Alaric and Enzo. They might spend one episode having a disagreement about Damon and/or Elena and the things that Enzo did while still considering Damon his friend. If Julie Plec is joking about a spinoff starring those two characters, then whatever problems they have with each other will probably be quickly resolved. I'm glad that someone mentioned shipping Alaric and Lexi day-drinking. I'm also glad, though, that Lexi was written as the good vamp that she is and she did seriously great things to earn her stripes and be at peace. The idea of Alaric and Elena being in a relationship is a little creepy, but people have a point about Elena's relationship with Damon being creepy as well. Alaric is an Original vampire now, and Elena is no longer a teenager. She drinks just as often as Alaric did, giving them something in common. It's insane to think about, but even though Alaric is supposed to struggle with his inner demons as a vampire hunter-turned-vampire (and Elena's father was actually a vampire hunter, making the two a Freudian match), Alaric's personality has most likely changed and he might be unable to act as a replacement for the fathers Elena lost. She doesn't need someone to raise her anymore, Alaric is not related to her, and since when does a father figure tell someone like Damon to "get the girl"? If Alaric still thought of Elena as a daughter after he died, he wouldn't have pushed Damon on her. He also wouldn't have made a joke out of it when Damon got Elena blown up. I don't know exactly what their relationship will be after the time jump, but it will probably be more like very good friends than father/daughter. Who knows, the mystical connection the Original Witch made between Alaric and Elena might still be in effect in some way, and it might not just be about life and death now that Alaric has control of himself again. Esther was one sneaky bat. Breaking one of her spells could have triggered something else. I think I want to re-watch the episode where Esther connected Elena to Alaric, in case Julie Plec intended all along to bring Alaric back from the dead somehow and continue that.

Also, the first time they did the deed, she was newly Sire-Bonded to Damon and under his complete control.....Yes, neither knew at the time, but the facts remain the same. I think your last sentence is spot on ... but who in their right mind looks to any T.V as a moral compass?

@dman24 You pretty much nailed it on the head why I sometimes need to imbibe on libations while watching the show, I need to drop my moral indignation in order to cope with some character choices if ya catch my drift!
@seiwriter A hell yes, to a lot of what you touched on here. Especially the potential of Alaric and Elena. The more I have stewed about it the more it actually makes some sense in many ways. Like you said, their dynamic is going to be drastically different because of all that has changed since Ric left the living, with both now being vampires and treading on the dark side. Their age gap isn't much and while there is a creep factor, lets face it there is a creep factor with nearly ALL the couples on the show. Mystic Falls is an incestuous dating pool. And because Alaric will be the one that helps Elena through her grief (and his too) that might force them to look at each other in a new light. Grief does weird things to people. And while I started this topic based on the potential love/hate Alarenzo could bring I am actually the most excited about Ric's dynamics with all the characters. What will become of Jeremy (the hunter) and Ric (ubervamp) relationship now? Besides dealing with the aftermath of The Other Side disappearing, the bigger aftermath is dealing with those that crossed over again that had been "dead" for longer than a day. Season 6 becomes more intriguing by the minute.

I have a question for the thread. Are Alaric and Enzo doing in a bromance thread? I think their relationship will be "oil and water" oops I mean "Fire and water" it is Enzo. And someone tell me where I missed how Enzo got out of that cage....surely not another plot-hole. lol

But even though I don't use television shows as a moral compass, I am a bit guilty in using my morals to assess the characters on them. Obviously not on every occasion, but when the situation calls for it, or if it's just a blatant act, I would judge them according to my standards. And I don't think anything is wrong with that, cause it's impossible to have no opinion whatsoever on what these characters do. The key though, is keeping a balanced perspective on everything. It's the only way you're able to enjoy these shows.
