As long as the meaning is MF deserved nothing more than Matt Donovan, but what they really needed was the kickass magnificient Damon Salvatore. Ikr?
Thanks for posting all the Damon humor. Now how about his other brilliant attributes? Lol.

I am a totally unbiased TVD watcher, don't give rat's ass about ships and yachts and all that other stuff, I kinda like Damon's comic relief, he often makes me smirk. I already posted the best scene of the season finale episode with him in the roundtable discussion btw. Cheers!!!

Oh yes, the awesome beheading of Big Bad Kai... Yes, that's the Damon Salvatore we all adore.
It must be much easier to watch this show without emotional involvement in fictional love stories, lol.
I'm glad to find a few people here who enjoy Damon's character, most of the posters on this site seem to have no love lost for him, as I discover. To be honest, I don't feel the need to create an altar of Damon appreciation here in this token thread. Just compare the number of posts here to Stefan's thread, also SE versus DE threads. Lol. I've registered here to share views on the finale, and I'm just poking my head through doors where I feel at home. I hardly think anything I'd post here of Damon would suddenly make people realise that, actually, he's awesome.
It's great you enjoy him on TVD.

I enjoyed these so much, thankyou. So much has happened since those days, and he really does get all the best lines, even still.

It's true, there are a lot of us who love Stefan on this site, but I think quite a few of us also love Damon--I know I do. He's a great character in so many ways. One of my all-time favourite scenes in the entire show is Damon's existential crisis in 2x12 (after Rose dies) when he breaks down over wanting to be human more than anything. Another classic scene is when Katherine tells him she never loved him in 2x01. His reaction is so incredibly sad. When Ian really gives an emotional performance, he breaks my heart. And when Damon smiles, it's enough to make me cry, because I do truly want him to be happy. Honestly, as much as I love the romance on TVD, the ship wars are a strange phenomenon. They take away from some of the incredible character moments in this show, moments that are at the core of what makes the show great. From a story standpoint, I don't think Damon had as great an arc when he was with Elena than when he was pursuing her, but that might have more to do with my dislike of Elena than anything about Damon. I've always enjoyed the brothers relationship over anything else. I love how Ian and Paul play off each other and how those characters have evolved through their relationship. Anyhow, I hope you don't leave the site because you feel that Damon is underappreciated here. Like Katherine says, it's okay to love them both!

Moshe12 and amimi, thank you for your replies. You've been both very welcoming.
I might pop in from time to time, but having looked around here over the last few days, this forum is not really for me. You have a close knit little group here, which is basically a Stefan Fanforum, more than a general TVD forum (as the name indicates). To be honest, I don't feel I can post my views freely in the episode discussion thread, because I disagree with a lot that's been said there, and most of you would disagree with me. A Damon fan's post can go two ways on this forum it seems: either the post gets ignored, (fair enough), or a debate starts which will then have to be moved to the debate thread (a system I find very restricting, personally, as discussions and debates cannot flow freely).
I have always followed other TVD fans' views, even if they were far from mine. I find it fascinating how differently we can interpret the same show. Debate in most cases is in fact futile, as the fans at this late stage of the game are very much set in their ways of thinking about it. Even after everything that's been shown, some SE fans are still waiting for the miracle that will bring their couple together in the end.
I'm afraid I'm no fan of Stefan's character. Most of the time he bores or annoys me, other times it's worse. That doesn't stop me from appreciating his actions occasionally (for example his pledge to wait for Caroline in the finale) but on the whole he doesn't interest me. I feel the brothers' story has been pretty much told, again, I'm not bothered to see more emotional scenes between them. I like them together most when they are fighting a common enemy, having each other's backs.
The he ship wars were an unfortunate byproduct of TVD, very much fuelled by JP. Nevertheless, the whole premise of the show was a girl choosing between two brothers, which inevitably forced most viewers to take sides. It's very rare to find fans of the show who have no preference. What will be interesting for me to see in Season 7 is whether Elena's departure from the show will finally ease these feuds and whether fans from different camps can unite to enjoy the rest of the series.

Damn! fangfairy, just as I was getting used to some company around here. I hope you do pop your head in from time to time, I have enjoyed your posts very much. I saw your posts in the debate thread, and I fully intend to respond, but I haven't had the time to respond as yet, but I will. I doubt we will ever see the end to the shipping wars, the feelings run very deep for lots of ships, and especially the Damon v Stefan fans, but at times I think that has added to the fun and drama, as well as the negative aspects shipping encompasses. It's not ALL bad. Personally, I don't see an end to the "shipping" wars. The Bamon fans are just getting started, the DE fans are celebrating and ignoring them, and the SE stans are fighting with the Steroline fans, and the Klaroline fans are still dancing there own tune, lol. We have a whole summer of this ahead. Lucky us. I am still dubious about S7, but I will give it a chance for a few episodes at least. My loyalty to Damon and a curiosity to see how he is doing is a force that I can't resist. After that, we will see.

Hi damonsgirl. I enjoy your posts too, very much. It's kind of fun, to be in the minority sometimes. I guess you're right, the shipping wars have been part of the fun of various TVD forums past and present, except I remember many occasions when lines have been crossed and people's feelings got hurt. Still, we've all come through them the wiser, I suppose. I'm sure you're right, the lines drawn in the sand are here to stay, but perhaps some of the hatred that was fuelled by the competitive nature of the show will ease up a little. I hope so anyway. We'll see. The only couple worth rooting for right now is Stefan and Caroline, which basically means for me there's no romantic interest left when watching TVD. I'm fine with that. One of the main appeals of The Originals is that it doesn't want to force any ships on me. It's amazing that there are still some Klaroline fans left, having seen JP drive her stake through that one with no backward glance. Bamon... No thanks. Please keep them as bickering friends. Like you, I'm probably sticking with S7 for Damon's sake. I will post from time to time, I'm sure. Looking forward to your response in the debate thread, if you still feel like going back to it.

As a Damon fan, I want to watch S7, just to see how he is, and nothing more. I have long since grown a sense of apathy towards any other character, which is a shame since I was always huge Alaric fan. I always enjoyed Liz (dead), and I have has an alternately love/hate for Caroline, and Jer (off screen now). Damon is really the only character keeping me watching, so it is important to me that they write him well going forwards. The biggest disappointment for me in recent times, has been the mamma Salvatore story. I have always championed more backstory including her, but now I wished they had not touched it. I prefer my own headcanon regarding her, because she will never live up to the woman in my mind now, and that is a shame.

I'm not sure I have one fave because there are soooo many fab Damon quotes, I put some of my faves in the quotes thread. The most recent one I love is from 5x01 to Silas "God your slow, I guess speed came with the upgrade" lol. Mine is 'Life sucks, get a helmet' lol
