Slash Today's MCU panel is movies only, yesterday J.Loeb was around doing the tv show stuff...today it's K.Feige's turn to dazzle. Sucked there was no Daredevil footage or anything yesterday, of which Steven DeKnight apologized for on twitter, they just didn't have anything comiccon ready. But he did he was looking at stuff that would blow our minds. The big rumor is Joaquin Phoenix maybe as Doctor Strange (which is definitely happening, btw)

Yeah, read about the Joaquin rumor for Strange. Marvel is pretty good on getting talent and has been pretty spot on with castings so we'll see what comes of it. Hear it's supposed to be more horror focused but also a door for their Magic side of things like Guardians is for their Cosmic stuff.
I think there was some news/rumor months ago (?) that Marvel had contacted/talked with Katee Sackhoff and people were speculating her for Captain Marvel as she seems fitting.
Sucks to hear about the show stuff not panning out much with news but I have a lot of faith in the show runner after Spartacus.

I have all the faith in the world in DeKnight...he wrote for Buffy and Angel, helped with Dollhouse, and did amazing work showrunnin Spartacus. I'm excited about Daredevil. love the idea of Katee Sackoff too. She would also make a great female Thor, but they aren't going to mess with that in film or tv. At least not yet anyway

They could use her as Valkyrie if they really wanted to (there is actually a Thor Girl as well), but I'd like to see her as a lead if they don't bring in some other unknown/smaller name actress to play Captain Marvel.
And it seems like Marvel and DC were both 'light' with news =\ Marvel showed some teaser footage of Ant-Man, a trailer for AoU (sounds amazing but **** Comic Con when it comes to how tight they are on footage and the long waits till public release) and locked a date for GotG2. No new announcements. Saw someone tweet something about delayed announcement due to not locking some final things in and I guess that pertains to Strange. Oh, Elizabeth Olsen used the word 'mutant' and got booed. The whole Marvel MCU and Fox thing is supposedly really ugly but that's no reason for fans to boo an actress cause she used a word that Marvel specifically can't use in the MCU.

I heard about the boo thing... Apparently Fox copyrighted the term Mutant so I think some of the fans were actually trying to shush her from saying it, lest an ahole at Fox decides to sue Marvel for implying that Mutants are in the Avengers. The whole thing is absurd really...the copyright, the booing, all of that. Yeah, I am dying to see that AoU footage because the journalists tweets coming out of that screening were just crazy nuts about it. Visually it looked great, the use of humor, Ultron looks epic, its darker, and everything is awesome, etc. Standing ovation for the footage, which apparently doesnt happen that often (really?) But of course us peons have to wait, and just feast off the reports detailing how amazing it was. It seems like the entire SDCC has so far been light with any major news or reveals. Or we have been incredibly spoiled and keep expecting them to top themselves. Don't know if anything will top Hiddleston coming out as Loki during last's years Marvel panel.

It's not that Fox has the term copyrighted, it's just the whole rights middle ground with Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver + Marvel & Fox being at each other's throats. Fox has the rights/license to X-Men and 'mutants' as an umbrella to encompass all related properties associated (X-Factor, X-Force, New Mutants, etc.).
SW & QS are a special case in these rights because although they're mutants (Magneto is their father), they've been Avengers for a larger part of their history/team ups and are more regular on that side of things (SW is married to Vision). Just in the movie realm, Marvel can't make mention of mutants or Magneto being daddy (hence the talk about Marvel trying to line up the Inhumans as a replacement in the MCU). I think the fans, in relation to the MCU, just have taken up the 'No Mutants' thing but still ridiculous and sad to hear Olsen booed over the word.
Marvel and Fox have gotten real ugly with each other. I think Fox wanted an extension on the Daredevil license before it lapsed and was willing to loan out Silver Surfer and Galactus in compensation who are attached to the Fantastic Four license (rumored to be the deal; both would be big grabs for the MCU Cosmic) but Marvel said nope.
I think expectations are jacked. Reality hit hard this year lol. I just think people really wanted to know what was coming in the next phase and also really want to see what new characters Marvel would bring to the MCU (some people are leaning heavily on wanting them to get an ethnic and female movie off the ground in Panther and Captain Marvel).

So we were introduced to Bobbi Morse, a.k.a. Mockingbird, tonight who was undercover with Simmons as head of Hydra Security and her way out in case Simmons' cover was blown. Bobbi just so happens to be that crazy wife Hunter has gone on about. Should be a fun new addition. She also nabbed Simmons' hard drive with Hydra files so they have some stuff to work on for their efforts and can hopefully get an edge going forward. Glad to have Simmons back in house too. Wonder how things are going to go with her and Fitz now that she's back. Everyone picks on Raina She was begging for help cause she was caught between a rock and a hard place with Whitehall wanting the Obelisk and Skye's father not giving it up cause Raina hadn't brought him Skye. Coulson turning her deal down really made her desperate for any out. Damn. I guess she's on her own now since Skye's father has now joined up with Whitehall (?) and Hydra after seeing the reaction his daughter had to his killings at the site. Really want to know more about how Skye and him were separated and their origins. Not good news however that Whitehall now gets the Obelisk and someone is actually going to teach him how to use it since he's been obsessed with it. Shield really doesn't need Hydra getting another foot up but next week's preview shows Hydra still ruining Shield's standing with the government. Age of Ultron trailer premiere next week!!!

I am just really loving this season so far. Lots of tension, different character dynamics, the new cast members enhance the mood and not drag it down. I always love me some Kyle Maclachlan, he is fierce. Seriously once the show flipped to the Hydra story line they effectively "grew the beard" and never looked back.
I don't know what it is about Raina that does make me root for her a little bit. She is intriguing, I love how she uses her feminine charm in situations but never does so salaciously. I like having her out there doing her thing. Loved watching her usual calm demeanor shift to panic and desperation when Coulson wasn't going to give her what she wanted. Those are the moments I love on this show even more so than the action sequences (still I do love a bad ass chick being all bad ass)
Can not wait for the Age of Ultron trailer. MCU just has their sh*t together when they roll out their goods. Its a very focused and well oiled machine.

Trailer leaked: Marvel seems to have made a joke out of it by posting "Dammit, Hydra" on Twitter. Only glances of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch using their powers. Banner looks to be a bad place =\ Cap's shield is shown broken and with Ultron evolving his form throughout, some people are speculating that Andy Serkis who is briefly shown may be playing Klaw, a Black Panther villain, who may provide Ultron with enough Vibranium to make a body out of, hence the ability to break the shield. This is leading people to think that if it is Klaw and with the broken shield, a BP appearance is in the future for Cap to get a replacement since Wakanda sits on a Vibranium supply.
There are some rumors also going around about the Civil War storyline crossing into the MCU and from what's shown in the trailer with Stark and said rumored appearance (might have been confirmed?) in a future solo movie, we may be getting the basis/groundwork going for that in AoU.

I love how Marvel took the leak all in stride and just went ahead and released it. Spader's voice is just legendary. I'm curious to how Quicksilver's powers will be portrayed in this movie because I think XMen:DoFP set the bar high for that.

Haven't seen DoFP. I keep hearing praise for the Quicksilver scene (and they're using it in the commercial) in that but aside from it, he's kind of a throwaway =\ There are probably only so many ways to show super speed. Everyone standing still/moving slower while you move at regular speed, being a blur, etc.. All I know is, it's going to be it's own basis for arguments after AoU releases with people fighting over which depiction was better =\

I'll drop in in a bit for the latest episode thoughts but Marvel held an event for their Phase 3 layout. Titles coming our way up to about 2019-2020:
Captain America: Civil War (May 16 2016) Doctor Strange (Nov 4 2016) Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (May 5 2017) Thor: Ragnorak (July 28 2017) Black Panther (Nov 3 2017) Avengers: Infinity War Pt 1 (May 2018) Captain Marvel (July 5 2018) Inhumans (Nov 2 2018) Avengers: Infinity War Pt 2 (May 2019)
Interesting that Civil War is being contained into Cap 3 instead of being bigger given the same event in comics. Avengers 3 being 2 parts is a biggie. Interesting enough is Captain Marvel (Marvel's first female lead) and Inhumans are smack dab in between so I expect a major whooping in Pt 1 and then the newcomers bring in some much needed help in Pt 2. Seeing Blackbolt on screen...YES!
Chadwick Boseman has been cast as Black Panther. Given the role is cast, and seeing the broken shield in AoU, I assume he'll show up in Cap 3 and help Cap with a new shield before easing into his own solo movie. Given the fight scenes in Winter Soldier, I hope we get to see BP and Cap square off in Cap 3 and then have the Russo Brothers handle the fight scenes in BP too.

Kyle MacLachlan playing unhinged crazy is a beautiful thing. The season is full of such goodness. nicely done Agent Carter stuff in the last episode. Well played, Marvel, well played.
