Interesting turn of events in this week's episode. Death is Ichabod's old friend, who Katrina was supposed to marry before breaking it off for Ichabod. Said friend was thought dead but was instead turned into Death with the promise from Moloch that Katrina would be his again if he fulfilled his duties as Death (hence her being held in purgatory). Death is fueled by vengeance as well but Moloch doesn't seem to want Ichabod dead yet. I expected the friend was Death when they showed him in the episode but it's still kind of cool to have all the details about the two now and just how closely they are linked.
Must suck to be Brooks. He wants to help/protect Abby but he's just so caught up in his own mess. He's Death's necromancer and a minion/agent of Moloch, who holds his soul. He can do a little here and there for Abby but for the most part, he's bound to do what he's told by the others, such as breaking the wards bounding Death.

Question: Any scoop on Sleepy Hollow? –Meg
Ausiello: As if the Fox drama’s first season hasn’t been scary enough, executive producer Ken Olin tells TVLine that Ichabod and Abbie will be in even more trouble before the freshman run comes to a close: Another horseman of the apocalypse will be introduced in an upcoming episode. Bonus Scoop: George Washington — as in the first POTUS — will make his first significant showing before the season wraps on Jan. 20.

SPOILER:
Phillip: Sleepy Hollow is hands down the best new show of the year! Any chance we'll see any more historical figures this season?
Fans will meet George Washington by the end of the season. In fact, the first POTUS will be introduced before the finale and will have gravitas for days. We're guessing we'll see him in flashbacks was Katrina as Katia Winter tells us, "Who do you think introduced Ichabod to George Washington?" Love. It.

The show has already been renewed for a second season!
This schedule change means The Following Season 2 will have a different premiere date.
Here's the press release from FOX:
"SLEEPY HOLLOW" TO END FIRST SEASON WITH SPINE-TINGLING DOUBLE (NO)-HEADER MONDAY, JANUARY 20, ON FOX
THE FOLLOWING Returns for Thrilling Second Season With Special Preview Sunday, January 19, and Season Premiere Monday, January 27
Hit drama SLEEPY HOLLOW will culminate its must-be-seen-to-be-believed first season with a special two-hour season finale event Monday, Jan. 20 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, changing the second season premiere of last season's No. 1 new series, THE FOLLOWING. The acclaimed thriller starring Kevin Bacon will unveil a special preview Sunday, Jan. 19, immediately after the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME (live, 6:00 PM-CC ET), kicking off 15 heart-pounding weeks of uninterrupted episodes. The season premiere of THE FOLLOWING will now air Monday, Jan. 27 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), following an encore of the Season Two preview (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).
In the first hour of the two-hour SLEEPY HOLLOW season finale event, "The Indispensable Man," airing Monday, Jan. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), Ichabod (Tom Mison) and Abbie (Nicole Beharie) discover a massive secret buried within the pages of George Washington's Bible and unearth the shocking true nature of the founding father's death. SPOILER:
PREVIOUSLY ON... | Ichabod learned that Katrina birthed a son named Jeremy, whose supernatural powers threatened Katrina's coven so much the witches stopped his heart and buried him. Abbie found out that her ancestor assisted at Jeremy's birth. Some kind of malevolent being stalked Capt. Irving's daughter Macey. Moloch delivered a chilling message: He was going after Abbie's soul, and Ichabod would deliver it to him.
COMING UP NEXT | "We've always said, the devil doesn't win by coming into your room and murdering you. The devil wins by turning neighbor against neighbor," co-creator Roberto Orci says of the show's final Season 1 episodes. Along those lines, "The fear that exists is Sleepy Hollow is finally coming to a climax, and the question is: Will the town destroy itself?" Looks like Abbie and Ichabod will be busy, especially when secrets about Crane's lineage and ancestors are revealed. Orci won't say exactly what will happen, but hints, "Everyone's going to end up in a really difficult place." Meanwhile, when we meet Ichabod's father (played by Alias alum Victor Garber), we'll be privy to "clues… that he never knew were clues back then. You'll see that there were already things going on back in the day that will inform [Ichabod's] present." It all leads up to the drama's Jan. 20 season finale, which Orci vows is a must-see. "You bet your butt that we're going to corner ourselves into something juicy. Let's see how we get out of it next year."
RETURN DATE | Monday, Jan. 13 at 9/8c (Fox); double-episode season finale airs Jan. 20 at 8 pm

Best of 2013
Breakout Star
Tom Mison
Attention, residents of Wilmington, N.C.: There's a stealth star in your midst. His name is Tom Mison, and he plays Ichabod Crane on Fox's North Carolina-shot surprise hit Sleepy Hollow. But when Mison removes Crane's trademark coat and scraggly hair (that's right, it's a wig), something curious happens: ''No one recognizes me,'' he laughs. Mison has even had the surreal experience of overhearing two locals discuss Sleepy Hollow in a bar...blissfully unaware that the show's headliner was sitting mere feet away. (Thankfully, ''they were saying nice things.'') Perhaps Mison, 31, should enjoy the anonymity while it lasts. He has ambitious plans for Sleepy's hiatus in early 2014 (the show won't return till next fall), including possible film work — maybe even a role that'll let him show off his vocal dexterity. Explains Mison: ''It's become very important for all of us [British actors] to have a good grasp of an American accent — especially as we keep stealing American actors' jobs.'' —Hillary Busis

Breakout Stars
Beharie and Mison are both individually worthy of praise for their performances as Abbie and Crane on Fox's new hit drama, but together they are pure magic and their banter is irresistible.

Best TV Show
Sleepy Hollow has found something special in Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie, as their characters just click. Platonic or not, it doesn't matter. Their partnership is something special and is why the show works like it does. Watching Ichabod Crane try to navigate the modern world and his reactions to what has changed has been entertaining and one of the best parts of the show so far.
But there's more to the show than just Ichabod and Abbie. It's been amusing watching Orlando Jones' Irving handle what's going on around him, and bringing in John Noble as a recurring guest star was arguably the best move of any show this fall. Yes, some parts have reminded us of Supernatural, and unfortunately it's a short season with the finale airing January 20, but fortunately, FOX was smart and has already locked it in for a second season.

Tonight is the season finale. I can't believe it is so soon. Why only 13 episodes?
I love this show. I wish I knew why they didn't have a full season of episodes.

SPOILERS:
Question: Loved the Sleepy Hollow finale. Anything you can share on Season 2? —Richard
Ausiello: Now that Katrina is part of the modern world, expect an increased presence for Mrs. Crane when the Fox drama returns. “She was trapped in Purgatory, [so] there were limitations to how she could be involved in our stories,” co-creator Alex Kurtzman says. “Now that she’s been freed from that place, she’s going to have a whole bunch of new stories to come.”
I can't wait for Sleepy Hollow to return! Please give me some scoop to tide me over! — Katherine
Now that Abbie realizes why she forgot War's resurrection, she'll become closer with Jenny, which is good because she's going to need a friend. "Once you access a memory that's painful, it opens the gates to others," executive producer Roberto Orci tells me. "Both of them may have experienced things together that they don't remember that may come back. This is the gateway to what else happened before we met all these people."

SPOILER:
Miriam: Sleepy Hollow season two is so far away! Give me something to look forward to!
Another major first for Ichabod, our favorite fish-out-of-water! "Air travel, he'll experience for the first time," executive producer Len Wiseman teases. "Imagine Crane on a plane basically thinking it's a massive truck. It's got wheels, he doesn't really know the thing actually picks up and takes off into the air. That's something he will experience."
