I liked this episode. Altho it was a recast of Season One, I still liked the dynamic between Damon and Stefan. Also -- another episode where Stefan was very well shot!! Good boom off Beau -- liked when he blew up the casket room. Poor Caroline--sidelined by Valerie again. Damon is starting to behave like Damon again. Welcome back!! I liked the pacing, the focus on the characters. Solid episode.

Benzo...nope. Bonnie as Damon jr...nope. I could say more about the character development of all the female leads of the show but probably best I put it in the rants.

I wanted the real Jo to return, although finding out the stone put a random soul in her, someone who seems sweet but with the potential for violence, was twisty and interesting. So both Beau and Julian have bolt marks on their chests, and later Stefan. Will it turn out that the new Jo is someone who had a vendetta against the heretics, and somehow the MF gang get on her bad side? Damon walking in on Stefan/Caroline reminded me of S1. He was right, that was a sad little bed!! I'm so happy PW didn't maintain his no-shirt off policy for this ep. because he looks great. Having Steroline recreate one of my favorite Stefan/Elena scenes from S2, waking up together in Elena's bed when she was "gazing, not staring" at him, bothered me a bit. At least Caroline was very Caroline in the scene, and Stefan knew she was making lists in her head rather than gazing at him. I'm worried the person Bonnie unintentionally put in harm's way will be Matt. He hasn't shown up in the flash forwards yet. Keeping us guessing... Searching for the correct coffin reminded me of searching for Amara in the warehouse. is it just me or do others think they're recycling too much this season? My two main dislikes this season: the heretics as villains and the ongoing destruction of beloved places and things. Now it's the Salvatore mansion! Trying to go in a different direction doesn't require destruction.

My two main dislikes this season: the heretics as villains and the ongoing destruction of beloved places and things. Now it's the Salvatore mansion! Trying to go in a different direction doesn't require destruction. The actual Salvatore mansion - Glenridge Hall - has already been destroyed so the writers really have to choice but to writer it out. Well, I guess they could've chosen to create a set that matches but then that costs money and it doesn't seem to be worth it especially if this might be TVD's last season.

I remember they couldn't use the actual site, but they must have some sets because they wouldn't have been able to film these scenes in Summer/Fall. I just don't like the destruction choice, even if there's a rational explanation outside the story why it will be written out.

Re Season One -- It is somewhat charming that they don't appear to know that every line from Seasons One and Two is ingrained in our memories. Just because the actors don't remember the lines LOL doesn't mean they didn't happen. Also Damon without Elena was actually (humourously) irritating again. It cracks me up that he can't do without Stefan.

Going out on a tenuous limb here to say....I saw some chemistry between Bonnie/Enzo and thought both actors did a good job in that scene. I thought 'yuck' when hearing rumors about the two of them as a couple, so it was an unexpected reaction. The moment felt genuine though.
