Graham, who plays Bonnie Bennett, describes what to expect from this season in three words: "Unexpected, volatile, and sexy." She continues, "that's pretty much it. It's a good season and there's a lot that's been put into it. We had the money to pay for this? There's some crazy expensive ***** that's happening." And while fans may get tired of her character constantly helping others on the show, that's actually what the starlet enjoys. She shares: "I just like the fact that the character's a hero in a lot of ways and the savior and the one that saves the day. They need her, and I like that. I like that I'm playing a little bit of a heroine character. I like that she's become a force that does things because she wants to, not because she feels obligated. I really think the character has come into her own [and] that she has her powers back and that she's sexier and has better hair. It's a good season. There's a lot of action. I think I accidentally set something on fire pretty early on...a lot of spells. Things are shattering and breaking and people getting staked." But what is she most looking forward to fans seeing? Episode five! "There's some really good moments and some really cool beats in episode five. They kind of do these like flash forwards," reveals the badass heroine on TVD. "We're doing these really cool flash forwards and episode five is my flash forward, so I'm excited for them to see that and the complexities that Bonnie still has. It's going to be really cool."www.whosay.com/articles/11563-kat-graham-the-vampire-diaries-spoilers

amon That dark and sexy Damon that Ian Somerhalder was hoping for? He's nowhere to be seen just yet. "What you saw in the last shot of Season 6 you don't necessarily get for awhile," he tells us. "We're [filming] episode 5 already and the dark, sexy Damon, to be honest, isn't quite here." While Dries tells us that "Damon is mopey and that [he and Alaric] are sad and grieving together," Somerhalder adds that "It's a lot more about understanding the component of moving on rather than depression. Or holding on rather than depression." As for whether or not he'll hook up to pass the time, watch Somerhalder talk about that here. Stefan Stefan (Paul Wesley) finally gets the girl! But before that, he and Damon will be feuding thanks to their manipulating mama. "[Damon] is exceptionally angry with Stefan because he doesn't see the benefit of a deal he makes with Lily," Somerhalder says. Adds Dries, "This season is more about defining them as brothers and less about their love of the main character. To see them have their own 'love story' is fun to write because Damon is such a good villain and Stefan is such a good hero and they're both so flawed." Caroline It's been a rough year for Caroline who lost her mom and then her best friend, but Candice King says it's time for Caroline to focus on herself. "I love that at the end of last season she said, 'No, I'm going take this time for me,' and she continues to do that. She's finding it a little bit difficult because she still has feelings for Stefan so we're going to see how that plays into their 'friendship.'" Of course, we know that they'll turn from friends to lovers, but King warns, "Fans shouldn't expect this perfect romance. But what the characters feel for each other is very perfect. So the situations aren't perfect, but the intentions are still really good so that's what they're fighting for through the chaos and the demise of Mystic Falls." Bonnie As Bonnie (Kat Graham) becomes stronger than ever, she's finally getting some love in her life! "Bonnie has been so empowered by Elena, so her first task as Elena's friend is to make sure Damon doesn't go off the rails," Dries says. "If you hang around Damon Salvatore too long he's bound to rub off on you, but between her friendship with Damon and growing into this powerful woman, she'll become Bonnie 2.0. Then, gradually, we introduce her with another character and they have sparks. They're hate sparks, but it's the beginning of a love story." Guesses anyone? (Hint: Read about the heretics.) Matt He's wearing his police deputy uniform well, that's for sure! "When we left him last season he [told] Elena, 'I can't hate vampires and still [work with them] either.' So this season you see a resolute line there," Zach Roerig tells us. "He's still working with the vampires because he needs that to keep order in Mystic Falls, but we'll see him really take charge. I feel Matt has a purpose in that gang now and he's helping Caroline and Damon, well he's sort of helping Damon, kick some butt against these heretics." Oh and don't bet on love any time soon. Alaric It's got to be only up from here for Alaric (Matt Davis), right? Eventually. "We pick up with Alaric grieving the death of Jo," Dries says. "Damon is mopey, of course, so even though they're sad and grieving together that will add a bit of levity to the show." Adds Plec, "This is not an easy transition for him; he's already been so much, and it's about as despicable and horrible a thing that could've happened. So he's not going to recover easily and he'll explore his grief in some very unconventional ways involving a lot of booze and some secret desires that involve psychics and witches and trying to contact the dead. But we'll be rooting for him to come out the other side OK." Enzo With the woman who turned Enzo (Michael Malarkey) officially in town, he'll have a big decision to make. "At the top of the season he's being forced to choose [between Lily and Damon] and there will be fallout for either one he chooses," Malarkey says. "That's going to be the crux of his dilemma. Adds Roerig, "You'll see Matt and Enzo [in scenes]. I'm not sure if they're working together, but Enzo is definitely using Matt to his advantage." Lily and the heretics Mama Salvatore (Annie Wersching) is wasting no time before kicking her sons out of the Salvatore house and settling in. But while she's the puppet master from afar, the heretics will "out-Mean Girl" Caroline. "It brings out this inner cattiness we haven't seen in Caroline for a while, ever since maybe Rebekah was on the show," King says. As for romantic interests, while two of them, Nora and Mary Louise, are a couple, Dries says, "We're bringing in six new people so if they don't have romantic interests that would be pretty boring. One might have a wandering eye; you never know! But we will see romance, and it could involve one of our main characters, but they will definitely intersect with existing romances on our show." www.tvguide.com/news/vampire-diaries-season-7-preview/

variety.com/2015/tv/news/vampire-diaries-season-7-steroline-herotics-1201613919/Whitney Friedlander TV News Editor @loislane79 CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” may have lost heroine Elena Gilbert with star Nina Dobrev leaving the show, but that doesn’t mean it won’t have plenty of storylines for season seven. In addition to a new coven of well-dressed creepy witch-vampires taking over the town of Mystic Falls thanks to Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) mother Lily (Annie Wersching), there’s the factor of how the returning characters are grappling with Elena’s departure — as well as what actress Candice King’s real-life pregnancy means for a certain fan-favorite couple. In honor of the season premiere, Variety spoke to series co-creator, exec producer and showrunner Julie Plec about what this all means for the seemingly immortal vampire series. See More:‘The Originals’: Julie Plec on New, But Old, Killers What can you tell me about these Mean Girls of Mystic Falls in this season?
We have a delicious, delightful new group of players who we call the Heretics, which are Lily’s Island of Misfit Toys. They’re people she’s accumulated over the years; cast out and shunned witches like Kai [last season’s villain, played by Chris Wood] was last year and are only able to do magic that’s been syphoned. They’re mutated witches, in a way, who have discovered that they can also be vampires, which up until now had been impossible. They are the only ones of their kind and they stick together through thick and thin even if, like most dysfunctional families, they bicker like siblings and love and hate each other with equal measure. Is Caroline the person shooting daggers at Stefan and Damon at the end of the episode?
You are the second person to guess that. All I will say is that there are a lot of people it could be and we’re not going to tell you for quite some time. What can you tell us about the cut on Stefan’s chest at the end of the episode? It looks like a cross.
It’s a little bit of an “x.” If you want to see a different version of this, take a look at what Beau (Jaiden Kaine) is doing when he’s adjusting his scarf at the end of his episode. You will find something very familiar about the scar on his body. Can you tell us if Candice King’s pregnancy will be factored into the season?I can’t yet tell you. Not because I don’t want to. We have talked about all kinds of wonderful and creative ways to use the pregnancy or write around her pregnancy. We made a decision we are really excited about and it’s in that story in all kinds of good ways. People are going to have to hold on a little bit before we tell them. There is no baby Salvatore on the way, it’s safe to say.

What can you share about the flash-forward device? Will it be utilized every episode? Is there a chance we could get a full flash-forward hour?
We are going to spend this season catching up to the three years from now. These flash-forwards are a lot of fun, because they give you little pieces of mystery, and it's going to leave you wondering what the big story is. How did these people get to where they are? There should be a flash-forward in almost every -- if not every -- episode this season.
That mysterious figure who was attacking the brothers -- can you say if it was Caroline (Candice King)? Or was it meant to be ambiguous?
It is supposed to be ambiguous; you're supposed to wonder who it is, and one day we will tell you!
Before the brother got attacked by the mysterious woman in the future, Damon got angry with Stefan (Paul Wesley) for waking him up before Elena (Nina Dobrev) was revived. What pushed Damon to that point where he opted to just put himself to sleep versus live without her?
This entire season's journey is taking us to the place where Damon makes that decision. He starts the season trying his best to live his life without Elena Gilbert. And over the course of his run, he'll have a lot of highs, a lot of lows, and ultimately, in a very sad and strange and poetic -- and probably selfish -- decision to put himself down. We'll get to see what happens along the way to that point.
In the present day, Alaric (Matt Davis) is on a quest to revive his dead fiancee, Jo (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe). What will that journey look like?
We say in our writers' room that death is final, but our characters don't know that yet. And in their mind, every time they've tried to rescue someone from the great beyond, they've been successful. Alaric has a big come to Jesus moment when he starts to share his intentions with other people. There is no other side, there is no other place to pull these people back from. It's not going to be as easy as he thinks it is. And his obsession is going to get him in some trouble. His storyline is one of my favorites for this first chapter. It's so sad, beautiful and tragic. And the end result of the storyline tees up a massive story shift that takes us through the rest of the season.
The guys tried unsuccessfully to take out the heretics with a bomb. What kind of rift that might that cause?
They're sticking their claim on the Salvatore house, and that is not something that is going to sit well with Damon. And even though Stefan, for all the right reasons, is trying not to rock the boat, Damon is going to go out of his way to keep rocking it. He's going to learn really quickly how nasty heretics can be when they are annoyed. www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/vampire-diaries-julie-plec-ian-830387Nerdist: What a twist! Those flash forwards to three years in the future were my favorite part of the premiere.
Julie Plec: Yay! I’m glad to hear that. They are fun, aren’t they?
Oh yes! Are we going to have those flash forwards in every episode this season?
It’s actually a new device we have for how we’re telling our stories this season. We will be teasing little bits and pieces of what’s to come in three years through most of this season. And then over the course of this season, we will find our way catching up to what’s happening three years in the future.
Will the flash forwards have a direct connection to what’s happening in the present day storyline, or are you playing out two separate storylines?
They absolutely have a direct connection, which has already been teased, very quietly planted in the first episode. If you noticed [mute heretic] Beau checking out a scar he has on his neck, it resembles greatly the scar that Stefan reveals that he has three years in the future. There’s a hint of a link already and the rest of the season will be spent unfolding that mystery.
What can you tell me about the identity of the mysterious woman hunting Stefan? After Stefan woke Damon up for help, Damon seemed to know exactly who Stefan was running from, despite having been desiccated in a coffin for an unknown amount of time …
Everybody has all these great theories which I find delightful. But it’s not something that we’re going to answer right away. We’re going to keep wondering who is stalking Stefan and why. But we will get information along that journey that will add up to an introduction of a new storyline that will hit right about the middle of the season.
In the flash forwards, Damon made the choice to desiccate himself until Elena woke up again, while in the present day, he’s determined to figure out how to live without her, with Bonnie’s help. What can you tell me about what is going to happen to Damon to make him change his mind so drastically?
Damon is absolutely determined to make it through this unknown quantity of time until Elena returns to him without doing too much damage to his reputation, to his psyche, or do anything that would make her not want to be with him when she finally returns to his world. For Damon, specifically, that is a pretty tall order and it’s something that he is going to struggle with mightily. So you can ask yourself, what got him to that moment when he decided to put himself in a coffin? Did he hit rock bottom, did he do something terrible, did he feel like if he didn’t lock himself up he would do something terrible? What are the things that would make Damon take himself out of the game?

Your favorite bad guy may not be so bad after all. Ok, we know that Enzo made that choice at the end of the season premiere of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ — but this season will feature a different side of him that we’ve never seen. And this time, it won’t be ‘f–king with people’s heads.’ Michael Malarkey’s words, not mine.
When Enzo (Michael Malarkey) turned on Caroline (Candice King) in The Vampire Diaries premiere, we have to admit — we were heartbroken. But that decision may not be as permeant as it seems. While he’s loyal to Lily for now, Michael Malarkey revealed to HollywoodLife.com that Enzo’s not exactly against Caroline and the gang — he’s just looking for one thing: R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
“He feel like all that stuff he does, no one looks at him and is like, ‘Oh I see why you did that.’ Everyone looks at him and is like, ‘Oh c’mon Enzo,’ or ‘Why’d you do that?’ He feels like no one respects him or his choices, so I think that’s a huge part of it,” Michael told us exclusively. “And one of the ways you can achieve respect is by having a family, so his way of achieving respect is through developing family ties, which is why he’s made the choice he’s made. And what we discover later on, we find that he’s testing how much respect he actually has between Lily and the Heretics family. He wants to make sure that he’s a legit Sergeant in their army.”
But along with that respect, we’ll also see Enzo searching for something else: love. That’s right, Michael told us we will be seeing his love interest in flash-forwards pretty soon — and it may or may not be a familiar face. “I think people will be pretty shocked by it,” he teased. “All I’ll tell you is that there was immediate chemistry. I know that those scenes that we already shot together will be f–king amazing.” Of course, the first thing in my mind is Bonnie (Kat Graham) since we know she’s getting a love interest too, and it’s someone “know and love.”
As for those Carenzo shippers out there, well, don’t hold your breathe. Michael knows there’s chemistry between the two, but doesn’t think it’s “necessarily romantic.” However, he is excited for the “Denzo” scene that’s coming up. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo’s friendship was one of the best ever, and we’ll see a scene of them together soon. “They’ve kept us apart for too long, we’ve been petitioning to start working together again! It’s another moral stretch of Enzo’s, how he deals with that.” Besides his love story, Michael’s excited for the audience to see a more “human” side of Enzo, which includes his choices and struggles, something we didn’t see much in season six.
hollywoodlife.com/2015/10/12/the-vampire-diaries-enzo-love-interest-michael-malarkey-interview/
What can you tell us about what’s in store for Enzo and Lily Salvatore in Season 7?
“Well. Well, well, well. There’s quite a lot in store, actually. It goes through quite a few peaks and troughs. We kind of start at the top of the season with Enzo trying to pick his side, and we see—actually, we saw it at the end of Season 6 that he moved into the Salvatore house with Lily and the heretics. At the beginning of the season in the episode tonight we see how he kind of ended up making that choice. However, at the same time as much as he connects with Lily he feels like the heretics are a slightly different breed of people and maybe not necessarily his kind of people. So that’s part of the dilemma that he has living in this house with these people.”
Can you dish on any potential love interest(s) for Enzo in this season?
“Oh yeah, there definitely is. What can I say, what can’t I say… We have a flash forward that happens in Episode 5 where we see him with somebody on the show, and as we trace this trajectory we see how that blossomed and becomes what it is in the future. We’ll see how they end up writing it; it could all change. But at the moment there definitely seems to be a love interest that is pretty solid.”
Are you excited for your character to be getting more development now?
“Oh, absolutely. I felt like he’s kind of gone up and down a little bit. I feel like last season there were moments where I was doing the same thing as far as his journey, and this season already starting from this episode tonight we see a lot more layers to the onion being opened up. We see a meaner side to him, we see a softer side, there’s a lot of different elements to the character. He’s almost more humanized, in a way, and I think viewers will connect with that aspect of his character. Everyone loves a villain with a heart, as they say.”

Alloy Entertainment: Speaking of interesting storylines, there’s been a lot of talk in the fandom recently about “Bonenzo” — which, actually is a fun shipper name as opposed to some that sound like diseases. Are they the next great TVD romance? Will there be more interactions between Enzo and Bonnie?
Michael Malarkey: [Laughs] There is a romance that happens between him and somebody in the flash-forward — I can’t say who — but sparks will fly. There’s a lot of chemistry there. Kat [Graham] and I have done some scenes together, and I really enjoy working with her. But I’ve come to learn that people will ship anybody and everybody. Believe it or not, I’m actually paired up with people from The Originals.
Alloy Entertainment: On that note, we were kind of disappointed in Enzo’s decision to side with Lily as opposed to the Salvatore brothers. Can you explain his reasoning behind this?
Michael Malarkey: Well, as far as he’s concerned, he’s spent a lot of time being loyal to Damon and Caroline and sticking up for them. But, never have they done the same for him. Never have they shown the same loyalty in return. And I think that over the course of time, these small disappointments started adding up and he started asking himself, ‘I have invested so much in trying to be friends with these people. Why? Why do I even bother when I already have someone here by my side who promises me all these things, and seems to respect me?’ From the viewer’s perspective, Lily and the Heretics seem like bad guys — but Enzo doesn’t watch the show. He’s living in his own world and seeing things from his own point of view. And to him, he’s teamed up with the good guys — people who stick to their word.
Alloy Entertainment: Obviously Enzo has a connection to Lily. As for the Heretics? Not quite. He doesn’t know much about them, and they seem pretty wicked. However, is there one in particular you feel we should keep an eye on?
Michael Malarkey: Well, Enzo is not a dumbass. He’s kind of a cunning guy, and he’ll eventually start to pick up on all these little clues and signs about who these people really are. He’s there for Lily — not for the Heretics, necessarily. Still, they are part of her family so he feels compelled to respect them and try to make peace. However, once he finds out more about them, he’ll certainly grow more suspicious of their motives.
Alloy Entertainment: We chatted with Ian Somerhalder last week, and he expressed his desire for more Denzo scenes. Will there be any coming up and, if so, in what context?
Michael Malarkey: You know, it’s funny — in every single interview I’ve done, everybody wants more Denzo scenes. Ian wants more Denzo scenes. I want Denzo scenes. Why don’t we have any? What’s going on? We really need to create petition at this point. [Laughs] Speaking of the devil, though, we do have a Denzo moment coming up in the next episode I believe. It’s not necessarily a reunion of two good friends: Enzo has expressed his allegiance to Lily, and Damon is very much on the opposite side. There’s a bit of drama that occurs between them.
Alloy Entertainment: You’re a parent yourself. Seeing as how this season is very much about family, what’s the best piece of advice you would pass along to Lily Salvatore about repairing her relationship with her sons?
Michael Malarkey: Oh, man. This is a tough one because that situation seems like such a lost cause. But, I would tell her this: Please get them really expensive motorcycles for Christmas, and don’t make them have a step-dad who’s an *******.
Alloy Entertainment: Hmm. Is this your convenient way of saying that Lily and Enzo will fall for each other?
Michael Malarkey: Who’s your daddy? [Laughs] No, it will all become clear in the upcoming episodes, and I think you‘ll enjoy what happens next.
Alloy Entertainment: So far, one of our favorite teasers for TVD Season 7 is that Enzo will be showing off his music skills. Will he be singing at all — preferably a track off your EP that’s dropping on November 20th?
Michael Malarkey: You will see Enzo playing the guitar next to a fire, all romantic-like. But he’s just tinkering on the guitar; he doesn’t sing. Although, there is a chance one of my songs will be featured in an episode further down the line.More: vampirediaries.alloyentertainment.com/exclusive-michael-malarkey-bonenzo-season-7-101415/#4 Question: Any word on Matt’s supposed new love interest on The Vampire Diaries? — Clare
Ausiello: First of all, Clare, I’m glad to hear you’re also invested in the romantic future of Mystic Falls’ lone human. That said, the show is currently casting the role of Penny, a “cute” but “formidable” young cop who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty when it comes to the supernatural. (Sounds like a perfect match for Matty Blue, no?)
Question: I need to know who that woman was hunting Stefan and Damon in Vampire Diaries‘ season premiere. Any intel? — Sasha
Ausiello: You’re not alone, Sasha. We’re also dying to find out — so to speak — and this is probably a pretty big clue: The show is introducing a legendary vampire huntress named Hannah, who “literally cannot rest until her vengeance is complete.” Even if Hannah’s not the shadowy figure we saw in the premiere, I imagine her arrival is still going to be a major bummer for the Salvatores.tvline.com/2015/10/13/stana-katic-castle-season-8-missing-episode-abc/What can you tell us about what’s in store for Enzo and Lily Salvatore in Season 7?

How do you think Bonnie has been changed by everything that happened last season?
Kat Graham: I think she's definitely more weighted, but I also think she's somebody who feels that she has to protect herself and that she's kind of lost everything that she could have possibly lost. So I think that she now has, not necessarily a Wild West perspective, but she's a force to be reckoned with at this point. She's not scared of anyone. She'll do what she needs to do to get what she wants.
Do you think she has any regrets about killing Malcolm after the chain of events that it set off?
Graham: No. Personally, I think Bonnie always wishes that the non-violent approach always wins. But Bonnie's also fought really, really hard to get back to Mystic Falls and get back alive, and she's not going to let some hybrids take over the town. I think that if killing a character means protecting the town and protecting innocent people, she'll do it. Which is a very different Bonnie. It's a more Damon-philosophized Bonnie. Damon won't think twice about it, and they've spent so much time together she also starts to have similar perspectives as Damon. "Let's just do it. Let's just get it down. Whatever it takes."
What's next for Bonnie and Damon's relationship?
Graham: In the episode airing Thursday, Bonnie, Damon and Alaric head to Myrtle Beach and they go down to get more information. Damon has his reasons for going to Myrtle Beach. Alaric has his in terms of the Phoenix Stone. So you'll get to see their journey together and we have a lot of scenes together. It gets a little violent.
Damon is out for blood now that Lily (Annie Wersching) has Elena's body. Will Bonnie try and rein him in a little or join him in the quest to kill Oscar?
Graham: I can't reveal what Bonnie will do, but I will say that she's all about protecting that coffin as well and she doesn't want to let anything happen to it. So that's coming up in the next episode. We'll see how she deals with Lily and the history of that, which is really cool.
What can we expect from Oscar? Is he different from the other Heretics?
Graham: He is different from the other Heretics. I actually really like the character a lot. The actor that plays him has been doing a phenomenal job and he's very, very cool. Not what you expect at all, which is very cool when you open the door and you first see this Oscar character you're taken aback. And what Oscar says is even more surprising because there's a whole twist with this Oscar character as well that people are going to be a little thrown by.
The Phoenix Stone seems key to everything that's happening this season. What can you reveal about what the visions Bonnie's been having might mean?
Graham: Obviously there's a link between the visions and the Phoenix Stone. I can't say what happens with the Phoenix Stone, but it's definitely going to be very relevant in the upcoming episodes. So this is the initial introduction to what this stone is and learning about it and what it's going to do and the effect it's going to have on all the characters moving forward.
How will Bonnie react once she finds out Alaric didn't destroy the Phoenix Stone?
Graham: I think that because they're so close if he's anything outside of honest, it's really going to affect their relationship. She's not very happy and Bonnie doesn't take that sh--. But we'll see if he mans up.
Matt (Zach Roerig) got rightfully upset at Bonnie when she nearly killed him last week. Will their friendship become at all strained going forward?
Graham: I don't know if their relationship is going to be strained because everyone's almost killed Matt a few times. This is probably my first time almost killing him. Usually, I'm the one saving him. So I think I get a pass. But I will say that they do team up to uncover something else that is happening at the school later on.
We still haven't seen Bonnie's flash-forward yet. What can we expect from that?
Graham: It's really exciting, and you'll get to see a new love interest. It's in Episode 5. I'm really proud of that episode. It was directed by Kellie Cyrus. I can't give away too much. It's really cool. It's one of my favorite episodes of this season.
