Am I on the right forum? Delena cute? Steroline tolerable? Must be opposite day.Just kidding, found the episode to be mildly entertaining. Liked the Kai interactions with Alaric and Jo. Liked Matts part in the episode. Caroline had some good moments especially with Elena.Disliked Stefan throughout the whole episode, starting to bore me to be honest. He has a pointless storyline and is really unimportant to the whole scope of the story. Damon is the star of the show, gets the best lines, most character developmet and growth. Liked him in this episode, his scenes with Stefan were good. He dominates the scenes with Stefan now. Stefan was equal to Damon before, now Damon has the last word in every conversation and comes across as the main hero or protagonist in the story in my point of view. Glad Bonnie is back, hopefully the mama Salvatore storyline is a good one. Tried to not sound so bitter.....failed...Cheers guys! Damon is getting character development and growth this season, which makes sense after dying and living in the prison world. He's not a one-note character whose experiences don't change him. I found it notable his advice to Stefan turned out to be wrong and Stefan realized it, albeit a little late. Damon also helped push Caroline toward her decision for no humanity with his tip that it was only going to get worse after the funeral. So growth, yes, but the hero? Not yet. Many people are chatting about Stefan having no story this season, no development, acting bored, etc. I honestly don't see him that way. He acted different, less connected to his emotions when he thought Damon and Lexi were gone forever. He was very removed & very persistent in running away from his life. Stefan's not front and center like Damon but only because he's trying to find a path separate from Damon, from Elena, from running away, and that means he's not the guy everyone turns to in a crisis anymore. I think that's great! I mean, it's growth to realize he can find love with someone who isn't also in love with his brother!! I agree with this so much. Ive been there. The one everyone turns too when there is a crisis and then ive been the one to also step back n focus on me and that doesn't mean there's no story to tell but rather seeing things in a different perspective. I'm glad to see Stefans character doing the same. Sent from my SM-G900T using proboards

What I do enjoy about this forum is that many of us can see the show for what it is and I guess give recognition where it's due instead of being blinded by the ships we love or the characters we hate. So actually appreciating a delena scene that flowed with tonight's episode rather then being forced down our throats or a sincere steroline moment even if you ship them romantically or platonic just shows the unbias reactions n that the writers did something right for a change lol. ;D Sent from my SM-G900T using proboards

That is the question, isn't it? In my opinion, they can go much lower than that. Can't wait to see next episode's. I'm sure it'll be great. Fingers crossed for under a million. #pretty please Kidding aside, that is bru... tal! With a capital B! And for one of the best episodes of the season too! Yikes! Either fans might not have liked sheriff Forbes as much as we think, or something serious is going on in the fandom, cause that is a terrible rating. And for such a refreshing season, it's a bit of an eye-opener too! Sigh! How long will this go on before it becomes an embarrassment? I'm sure Julie is racking her brain about this (at-least when she's not answering fan questions). This is not a good sign folks -- at all!

Sent from my SM-G900T using proboards You have a point, but the previous episode was a good one too, and that didn't help in the ratings--in fact, it made it worse! So obviously episode quality isn't the deciding factor here, cause if it was the ratings wouldn't be as bad as they are. Something else is at stake here, cause this is a better season than season five, yet it has the worse ratings of the two. So, sliding slope sliding even further, or unexplainable phenomenon? Hmm... I wonder which one it is?

at least the 7+ ratings are good. Maybe people watched online after they heard from us how good the episode was? And hopefully those will tune in live next time

Its always been competitive time slot Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I527 using proboards Sure. I've never had any point of comparison before as to what 1.41 million people means. In the US, that might not sound like so many people. In Canada, one of our most popular programs is now Murdoch Mysteries -- this week, it reached 1.28 million viewers. It took eight years of building to get to that many people in Canada: first, the show was on CITY TV (largely Toronto market) for its first six years. It received virtually no promotion. The audience base was built by the incredible rate of re-broadcast all through the six seasons, probably driven by the CRTC requirements for Canadian content. That's how I first started watching it several years ago. In Canada, on free TV, largely the weekends are given over to sports: figure skating, hockey, international winter sports competitions, and golf. There is literally nothing else on free TV. For six years, the only alternative to sports was re-broadcasts of Murdoch Mysteries. Some times they would rerun three episodes in a row. Then after season 6 it was cancelled. Interestingly, the Conservative Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, said publicly that he and his daughter were avid viewers of Murdoch Mysteries. "Coincidentally" -- and thank goodness -- CBC the Canadian public broadcaster picked the show up for its 7th and now 8th season. They have been giving it national promotion. In the past two years, the five primary actors -- who have been on the show all along -- have become nationally known as TV stars. That's how long it took to get to 1.28 million viewers. So I still consider 1.41 million people a significant audience! :)

So I still consider 1.41 million people a significant audience! I like that story; it's interesting to hear about situations where there's more governance over free TV. TVD would rule in Canada! It's true though, 1.41 sounds skimpy compared to the 18 mil. of Big Bang. Even Big Bang reruns beat new episodes of other shows. The down side is I watched a good show a few years ago that didn't get renewed after its first season. The crime? Only 8 mil. average viewership. Thank goodness for CW. Fox network is a little more open to giving shows a chance too, esp. if the show has a small but passionate viewership. The big three though - off with your head! Now they give pilot shows only a limited time to air, sometimes 4-5 episodes before cutting them. Time, placement before or after hit shows, competition...there are so many reasons why a good show can't build up viewership in 5 weeks.
