Since I haven't written a review in a while, I'm going to fire these off in rapid session to sort of get my bearings back. Here goes:
I thought it was a good episode. Interesting, exciting and a bit heart-breaking. Oh how I love that combination.
Since when did Tyler become momma bear? It's like he's becoming way too over-protective of Liv. Ease off dude. I know this is better than no storyline at all, but it's a little disconcerting seeing him act this way. I know he cares about her, but it's a little too much. I don't know, maybe I need to get use to this new Tyler. But if he starts tucking her into bed -- that's it! lol
Damon compels Alaric again. Okay, I know the suspension of disbelief has reached epic levels now, but why o why isn't Alaric on vervain? It makes absolutely no sense. At all!!! For God sakes, even Sarah, a girl that just strolled into town is on vervain, yet a former vampire -- and vampire hunter -- isn't? Yeah, that's believable. Sigh! Come on writers, you can do better than that.
I loved the Broods song that played at the beginning. I have the album (which is great BTW), so it was nice hearing one of the songs from it. I knew it was only a matter of time before a song from that album appeared on the show. It's TVD sort of music.
Nice to see the Gilbert house again. It really brought back some good memories. It was like a beloved character returning. And once again: why did Elena burn that house down? Ugh!!! #Dumbest decision ever
Damon to Elena: "Keep your eyes peeled. There's a pork-rinds munching freak somewhere around here. Okay." HI-LARIOUS!!! I was dying when I heard that!!! Nice to have the old sarcastic Damon back. BTW, I've eaten pork-rinds... and they're not that bad. I mean... once you get pass its "source", it's somewhat appetizing. New York City kids would know about that. Haha!
I love Kai as a villain. He's tremendous!!! Evil, sarcastic, psychotic, unpredictable. The guy covers all the bases in the villain handbook. This is how you do it right TVD. Round of applause to you.
Loved Elena's phone call to Bonnie. They were so excited to hear from each other. Really great moment.
Damon's "video journal." Haha! Oh well, at-least it wasn't a "diary." BTW, who else wanted to see more before Damon snapped it out of Elena's hands?
At-least now we know what happened to April. Is it me or do her and Jo look exactly the same? It's eerie. BTW, April, Jo and Damon might as well be from the same family, cause it's scary how similar they look.
UGH!!! The Mystic Falls "border" rears it's head again. How convenient. It's nice that Alaric -- and basically anyone now -- can just cross over and be instantly de-compelled. No pain-staking process necessary. I wish life was that easy. Though, to be honest, that border has nothing on Davina. It might get the job done, but she's a whole lot cuter.
Nina looked great in this episode. Normally she looks good anyway, but she was extra beautiful in this ep. I wonder who I should send the thank you to?
I believe Damon was honest in his intent on bringing Bonnie back. It wasn't just for Elena. After spending so much time together, he grew to care about her--even love her-- so why wouldn't he want that person back in his life again? That person that meant so much to him.
Matt to Enzo: "Everyone hates you." Haha! And he said it in such a nonchalant, Matt sort of way which made it even funnier. That's right Enzo, everyone does hate you, and you know why? Because you're an A-hole that kills people for no reason. Hmm... reminds you of someone?
Kai to Liv: "No Bourbon. I'm secure enough in my masculinity." Hmm... so what are you trying to say about the rest of us Kai? Not nice dude. Funny though.
When Enzo was holding Sarah and babbling on about his ridiculous need to know the "truth" I was screaming at Stefan "kill him now!" Cause I knew exactly what would've happened if he didn't. The minute he completed his little manifesto he would've snapped her neck, so why give him that opportunity? But alas, that wasn't the case, and Stefan stood dumbfounded while this psychopath killed another innocent girl. Horrible! Just horrible! BTW, I want Enzo dead now! Not "other side" dead. Dead dead! After this latest "stunt", the guy's got to go!
I loved Alaric punching Damon. He deserved it! The guy's a real man as far as I'm concerned. Someone screws with you, you beat the crap out of them. Simple as that.
I loved how much time Ian and Nina... I mean Damon and Elena (my mistake ) spent in this episode. It's been a while since they've been together this long, so it was a nice thing to see. But it's clearly obvious they don't have the same chemistry anymore. They weren't too uncomfortable and their interactions were solid, but it seems more of a "job" for them now. Kinda sad, and just when Delena needs it.
Despite my misgivings about Enzo (or Enz-hole (lol), as shoe20 likes to call him. I hope I spelled that right buddy.), I do find him amusing at times. I did like this quote from him. Enz-hole to Matt: "Don't be jealous. You can't vamp-hear because you're a big blond bowl of mush." Sorry, but that is so hilarious to me. I was dying when I heard it. Good stuff. Though Matt's not really that blond (at-least I don't think so), so why does every one keep saying that? Who knows, it was funny anyway.
And Bonnie. I felt really bad for her there at the end. She desperately wanted to get back home, and to just show up with no one there: sad, just really sad. To have all that hope and then to have it dashed in such a way: how could she not break down? I honestly felt for her. But thankfully, we'll see her soon, so all is not lost.
Looking forward to the next episode. I hope it's as good as this one.
