So I watched the episode. And, as usual, I need to collect my thoughts before I can say what I thought about it (hint: it's mainly positive), but one thing bothered me, so can I ask: Why the bloody hell wasn't Alaric wearing vervain? He may be with friends, but that guy lives in a world with vampires in it, has been through hell, is friends with a bunch of vampire magnets and is one himself (not to mention, Enzo is still around) and the boys were on a potentially dangerous mission that could involve more than witches. He should have been on vervain. It doesn't add up. Sorry to always be picking at the minor instances of illogic. I'm a nitpick. Vervain and the Gilbert ring. He's Damon's friend so Alaric needs both. Funny you mention the ring, because last night when Alaric walks into the Gemini house I blurted out loud, "betcha wish you had the Gilbert ring right about now!"

his ring is gone and it would be unfair to take away the other one from Matt

his ring is gone and it would be unfair to take away the other one from Matt I forgot about Matt having one. What happened to the other? Jeremy technically can't use it now that he is a hunter, true? Also this brings up a question I have...How would the rings work now? Before in your death you were adrift in the "other side" and had to make your way back to your body. And each death that distance to your body is farther than the last. With no more "other side" to keep you in a temporary purgatory if you will then what happens now? Are the rings now useless? Anyway, just a passing thought.

Jeremy gave his ring to Matt because he is a hunter and it won't work on him now. Alaric's ring was destroyed by Esther to create the stake that later killed him

Just watched the episode, it was super!!! 5/5 points from me, I was biting in my pillow, so scary and suspenseful were some scenes!!! Well, well, well...so Kai is the new supervillain of this season, now I almost regret my ranting gainst Liv and Luke last season, when I wished they would be killed by their own coven after the season 5 finale...hate to say it, but I have been warming up to them a bit lately. It's in the saying "be careful what you wish for" !!! really liked Ty taking care and protecting Liv...nice!!! It's very late, going to sleep now, gotta think about some stuff of tonights episode. Cheers

Jeremy gave his ring to Matt because he is a hunter and it won't work on him now. Alaric's ring was destroyed by Esther to create the stake that later killed him Duh, can't believe I forgot that!! Thanks KikiStill the other questions plague me, but @dman24 you are probably right, it will never get addressed because the writers deem it no longer relevant. Hell, they barely deem Jeremy relevant anymore. So this episode...don't get me wrong, it was a solid episode, but bear with me here. My overall problem (and why I snarked with the Jeremy thing) is that this main mystery here revolves around characters that aren't even the core characters of the show, which relegates some of the main characters to background noise, side characters or non existent. Story is nice and important, but so is character building. We have a vast amount of characters that we have built up over the past 5 seasons that I hate to see completely wasted, but instead are asking me to care about characters that haven't been built up. While the mystery behind the coven is fascinating, I dont find myself overly invested in their fates. Not that I dislike the characters but I just don't have enough built up about Liv or Luke to make me honestly care. Besides Liv being b*tchy as her wall, and Luke being the gay brother, their personalities are still pretty blank slates. Which makes me feel more detached from the story.

crimmyj you are so right about that. I just don't want to care about new characters anymore because everytime I do they get killed in the next episod

Poor Bonnie. I want her to come back and just unleash hell. So Jeremy Gilbert, How are ya doing, buddy? How have you been? Good? How's high school? Have you been riding the bang train still or just keepin it solo with Sarah Salvatore? Dating a Salvatore you say! Have you told your sister? Have you lit the Salvatore's house on fire? Drank through their liquor stash? Dirtied Damon's sheets? Has Matt been fielding any child protective services calls in regards to you and your care? It is the Thanksgiving...did you eat leftovers with Elena? I'll bet you have had your first parent teacher conference...how'd that go? I'm so curious about you Jer and concerned. Is anybody else concerned? No? I did think it was weird that Tyler was at Friendsgiving but not Jeremy.

I haven't read all the way through BUT does the ring work now that the Other Side has collapsed? OH. I see it has been raised as an issue.

I did think it was weird that Tyler was at Friendsgiving but not Jeremy. Just like Damon was invited but not Stefan That made me throw up in my mouth a little bit, considering it seems it was Caroline who did the inviting. Just no. and I'm sorry but the whole I hate you because you were a big jerk and you are not reciprocating my feelings is just seriously middle school level social functioning. Who does that?

I did think it was weird that Tyler was at Friendsgiving but not Jeremy. Just like Damon was invited but not Stefan I think we're all missing the boat here. "Friendsgiving" is suppose to be about friends. Get it? Of course, that doesn't explain why Matt wasn't there, or why Damon is all of a sudden everyone's best friend, but hey, this is TVD, so pretend all of this makes sense and go about your day. It'll only hurt more if you think about it.

Did you seriously say "who does that?" Have you forgotten how petty human beings can be? I think you're giving us more credit than we deserve. Then again you might not live in a city so things might be different. Try taking the subway or the bus. People are petty for the most ridiculous things. Also, Caroline is still Caroline, so it's not a stretch her acting that way. She might be a vampire, but that same neurotic control mess of a personality is still there.

You are right I am sure people behave that way all the time, it is just simply not in my nature so I can't relate to that. It seems so juvenile how Caroline is acting. I've suffered through some of the friend crush unrequited love drama, but in the end I always worked out that I would much rather keep the friendship than anything else. One of my best friends today was someone I pined away for a bit in college. Sure it was a bummer than he didn't feel the same, but in the end it was our friendship that stood up through it all. I wouldn't even think of being a jerk to him because he didn't feel the same. You can't make someone feel something that you do.
