Wow, I was completely blown away by this episode. Crazy goodness. The opening was stellar, scary, much more than I expected to see about Kai's slaughter of his family. The Gemini Coven connections were interesting and shocking. Tyler's move to safeguard Liv was very good thinking on his part, although if Papa Parker is headed to Whitmore next, I hope Luke joins them in MF. Maybe this coven will be the ones to break apart the magic bubble? I'm left wondering if Grams intentionally sent Bonnie to 1994 MF because she regretted her decision to help imprison Kai. Or if Grams believed there was something Bonnie needed to accomplish there to find peace before returning to current day. Or if the Bennett magic just snagged Bonnie on her way somewhere else. I don't know, that part will be revealed hopefully. LikesBesides the above: Duddles, the new ship per napoli. Liam - he's grown on me and I hope he's not gone for good. Jo & Kai's story, past & present Scene between Caroline & Stefan, Stefan opening up a little to her Elena caring more about getting Bonnie back than figuring out her relationship with Damon Kai - his unpredictability and brutality are such a juxtaposition with his boyishness that I'm always feeling tense during his scenes, knowing he'll do something, but what? I didn't like that Bonnie got stabbed by Kai, but it was a good plot twist for him to find the magic and realize he didn't need Bonnie after all. So Bonnie will be alone for Christmas. Not that she wants Kai around but that will be sad to watch, esp. if she's stuck at the murder house. Didn't Like as MuchLiv & Luke being Jo's siblings. It felt like a few too many coincidences. Their reunion was...I don't know...just thought Jo would be more thrilled to see them alive even if they didn't remember her. It works with the new plot though, so I'm basically fine with it. Caroline getting snippy about Luke wanting to watch a video. It's pure Caroline but they're overdoing her controlling/angry side at this point. Similarly Damon dogging Ric for calling Jo his girlfriend after '3 dates.' That's Damon jealous of Liam imo. Jeremy and Matt shunted aside on Friendsgiving? Ouch. Favorite Scene & Most Shocking
Most of the episode?!? Hard to choose these moments.

Poor Bonnie. I want her to come back and just unleash hell.
So Jeremy Gilbert, How are ya doing, buddy? How have you been? Good? How's high school? Have you been riding the bang train still or just keepin it solo with Sarah Salvatore? Dating a Salvatore you say! Have you told your sister? Have you lit the Salvatore's house on fire? Drank through their liquor stash? Dirtied Damon's sheets? Has Matt been fielding any child protective services calls in regards to you and your care? It is the Thanksgiving...did you eat leftovers with Elena? I'll bet you have had your first parent teacher conference...how'd that go? I'm so curious about you Jer and concerned. Is anybody else concerned? No?

So I watched it after getting home from movies. I was very surprised there was no de until the end. I thought this episode was going to be de saturated since it was butler. Hmmm well it was pretty fantastic all about the coven and the twin twist surprised me unlike jo did not see that coming at all so it felt like season one and two where the music came on and I was like aah omg. I loved the stelena phone call and they have been doing this alot lately she calls him for support and guidance and you see it in her eyes how she feels about him. I just hope they are not messing with us. I hate steroline it makes caroline weak for some reason. With klaus she was strong and had a sense of her self. Delena was not horrible again it seems like they are on there way out. I really think jp's ending chapter statement is about de. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I527 using proboards

So I watched the episode. And, as usual, I need to collect my thoughts before I can say what I thought about it (hint: it's mainly positive), but one thing bothered me, so can I ask: Why the bloody hell wasn't Alaric wearing vervain? He may be with friends, but that guy lives in a world with vampires in it, has been through hell, is friends with a bunch of vampire magnets and is one himself (not to mention, Enzo is still around) and the boys were on a potentially dangerous mission that could involve more than witches. He should have been on vervain. It doesn't add up. Sorry to always be picking at the minor instances of illogic. I'm a nitpick.

RE-SET!!! Great episode, very gripping. I have liked all the actors manifesting the Gemini Coven, great additions. Don't have time for extended comments or a re-watch -- by the way, I will likely never actually watch the Gemini massacre sequence, I didn't the first time through -- but more feels later.

On the CW, The Vampire Diaries earned a 0.8, up a tenth from last week's series low 0.7 adults 18-49 rating. Reign matched last week's 0.4 adults 18-49 rating.

The twins have to merge at age 22. 2 and 2. Ha. Funny little detail, what with the Coven being called the Gemini (=twin) Coven and all.

And it doesn't look like we're going to get a proper sibling scene anytime soon. Elena will tell Jer about Bonnie next episode and possibly her sacrificing herself AGAIN. Jeremy will be unimpressed, and then BAM the episode after that they're both doing their own thing again. But who knows, maybe the two of them will have more than one scene in episode 9 and good ones at that. :3 Got my fingers crossed* I'm sad there has been no Alaric/Jeremy/Elena scenes yet. I'm hopeful we get something in the 2nd half of the season.

Is anybody else concerned? No? Who's Jeremy? I hope everyone saw through my sarcasm. Ha! But seriously, Jeremy might as well be dead or lost in his own time bubble, cause the show rarely pays attention to him, and neither does his sister. He's the quintessential latchkey kid. Though that does give him time to peruse his other pursuits: fill in name of another random hook-up. Without Bonnie he's a bit lost, so he's doing whatever he can to stay busy. And he sure is doing a mighty fine job of that! Ahem! BTW, no invite to awkward-giving (cause sharing a story of your psychopathic brother murdering your family is always great dinner conversation. Can someone pass the mash potatoes? lol)? Wow, I'm a little surprised by that. Even Damon was invited. Poor Jeremy.
