He doesn't seem younger to me (I can see the added wrinkles), but I definitely know what everyone is talking about. I think Matt has put on some muscle and his hair is all fine and fresh, and his fancy shirts are helping, too. I wuv him.

Also, I can't wait for this bromantical moment this spoiler spoke of. Someone in the comments said Jo looks like an older version of April... So true. lmao.

I liked this ep. It made me laugh out loud several times, and there were a couple of surprises. We got a few answers. So far this season is holding together pretty well, and the new characters are sticking around longer than half an episode (Megan). Look at Ivy! Not so gone after all. Although I didn't feel as surprised as I should have. Maybe because Ivy was buried in a shallow grave after being killed by a vampire or maybe because imdb had her listed for 5 episodes. Her return will definitely put a wrench in Stefan's plan to start a new life unless she dies for good in ep.5. The whole Kai story, and his ability to suck magic from Bonnie, is creepy good. Bonnie's ethical dilemma was made a little easier when he pulled out his one magical skill. The back story was mostly interesting to me for the brothers' interaction. What I took away from their argument: Damon is angry with Stefan for not being there during the big moments in his life, like rescuing him from Augustine, or helping Damon turn his humanity back on instead of sending Lexi, maybe even running off with Klaus in the 20's instead of finding Damon to party with. I speculate Damon helped Stefan more than Stefan knows; possibly Damon was there when S. was the Ripper of Monterey and Stefan blacked it out. Or maybe I'll feel cheated by TVD if we never see the Ripper of Monterey backstory, and I'm trying to twist the plot to include it. Dear Elena, I thought Caroline would spill the beans too. I like that Stefan was the one to say something because he has more of a stake in her compulsion, and it had to be the weirdest for him to hear Elena talk about Damon as "your brother." I'm curious to see what Elena will choose to do. It was a good twist that she wrote the story out in her diary so there was no question it was her choice.

CW The Vampire Diaries 0.8/1.65 Is this a good rating? No, it's not. The last episode had a 1.9, so this is clearly a drop-off. TVD ratings be use to be in the high 2's and occasionally the low 3's. Sadly, those days are gone. This, unfortunately, is the new reality. The one JP and Caroline have created. Thanks guys!

You're right @dman24 that compared to previous seasons it's an abysmal result but for CW it's still a good rating. Beauty and the Beast had episodes in s2 that didn't even hit the 1M mark and it still was renewed for s3 so TVD would have to be much worse than that to be cancelled.

Forgot to mention how great it was to see young Liz, esp. her talking about Caroline being a difficult baby.

True, but did BatB ever have a consistent low 3 rating? I believe they started at low 1, so dropping just below that isn't a terrible % drop. Also it dropped because season 2 they moved it to another night. Difference being is the % drop off for TVD, it is not a good trend to essentially lose close to 50% of the audience they maintained for 3 seasons. For CW the show still does well enough, but with other shows on the network with equal ratings, the CW knows that it can be replaced as well with something that is fresh and still bring in the same numbers.

At this speed and with This bad writing quality , I'm afraid we'll get there sooner than later.
