crimmyj, I think I failed to mention that I just fast forward through the parts I don't like. That is, anything with Tyler, coz the poor guy always has the same five lines no matter what the episode, also anything where more than one Traveler shows up, every scene with Aaron (except the ones with Stefan and Damon) or Dr. Wes, plus most of the Augustine stuff, which is too gross. Given all that editing: not bad. And I watched a couple of scenes of exposition more than once about the anchor and who wants to keep or eliminate the Other Side, and I still DO. NOT. GET. IT!

HAHA demetra soooo each episode ends up being about 5 minutes long? not bad. I, for some reason, like to make myself suffer! Just finished watching S5E16 and S5E17....wow, those episodes made me want to step outside and punch someone in the face. I can't even start talking about without going off. Elena's daydream about banging Damon in the chemistry class in the middle of jeremy's parent teacher conference...after finding out that Jer has missed school, gotten in fights, cheat on tests. That was so gross... I just can't. I don't care what characters it could have been, that was just ugh. uuugh. WHY?!

That was so gross... I just can't. I don't care what characters it could have been, that was just ugh. uuugh. WHY?! "Why" is a good question. I assumed that either Damon was compelling Elena, which he had a tendency to do to other vampires if they let him, or Elena is still a little bit psychic even though she was cured of the werewolf venom-laced ripper virus. Remember when Elena first came back, how she kept seeing Aaron with his throat ripped out? She couldn't have known that Aaron died that way. She didn't even know for sure that he was dead. Then she saw Aaron again when Damon was walking toward her in the street. I wondered at that time if something was going on that we're not aware of yet. Elena has been poisoned with werewolf venom before, and yes I understand that there was also a virus and she was starving, but her hallucinations were out of the ordinary because they had a psychic component to them. Even the Originals just get flashbacks or see their worst fears. Elena worried more about losing Damon than about Aaron dying. Whatever was going on, Elena obviously can't see the dead. She didn't see Enzo, and she couldn't have really been seeing Aaron because he was human and his spirit was at peace. As for the daydream involving Damon, Elena could have been somehow picking up on something Damon wouldn't stop thinking about. He was made a vampire when he was an adolescent, and the daydream happened when Damon and Elena were in a high school. Boys in high school think about sex 24/7. Elena might have some heightened intuition now because of what Katherine did to her. I don't know if one could call Elena a traveler, but it makes sense that Elena would be just a little bit psychic after a trip into someone else's body because Silas was a traveler and formed psychic powers when he became immortal. I'm not saying that Elena can do what Silas did, but I think Elena would have been a traveler if Katherine switched their bodies when Elena was human. Since Elena is a vampire, she could have been brought back into her body with a new gift because while travelers aren't witches, vampires can't practice magic. It's just a theory I have. I don't know if this could be where the writers are going, or if Elena only experienced brief psychic phenomenon because of the ripper virus. When Elena came back, she was afraid that she would lose herself if she didn't have Stefan or Damon to hold onto. She hinted that she was changing somehow and it frightened her. I hope we see whatever it was that scared her so much, now that Damon is gone for a while. I wonder if it had anything to do with how Elena was cured of her version of the virus. In the absence of Klaus' blood, what could have possibly cured Elena of werewolf venom? The potions that Damon and Elena drank looked like blood, and there were probably spells on it. If there was a spell to cure a vampire of werewolf venom poisoning, I would have been more interested in that than a Delena sex scene. The Travelers' cure seemed like a quick fix that came out of nowhere and had no consequences.

@seiwriter, wow, wonderful theory and character analysis. I wish you were writing for Elena. Have to keep thinking about this one!

Bless you @seiwriter for your analysis, but I believe you think far more about it than the writers ever do. I would like to think that they try to hash out the mythology and canon they set up, but I honestly don't think they care that much. They merely use these devices as props for whatever plot point they want to push. Yeah, it does seem odd that the travelers can come up with a quick no consequences cure to werewolf venom but that was merely written as an easy escape for the writers to get Elena back to her normal Season 5 (I care for absolutely nobody but Damon) self as we then went the rest of the season without even a hint or nod to that. So without the continuity easter eggs you know that is never going to get addressed again (like so many other plot threads they throw out there never to return to). Instead we get treated to a gross sex fantasy in the middle of a parent teacher conference. It was gratuitous and served no SL purpose other than to shove in the audience faces that Delena sexual chemistry can't be denied (hence it was in chemistry class while the teacher was explaining the positive and negative points of chemical bonding.) And THAT is the writers thinking they are deep. I'm kinda getting embarrassed for them.

(In ancient Greek belief) a Daemon is a divinity or supernatural being of a nature between gods and humans. We must admit: Damon is otherworldly beautiful. For some reason, Elena, who as a human, was carefully coiffed and dressed, as a vampire, often is dressed down and made more plain than Damon. Stefan is a gorgeous man, but at least Elena is prettier than he is. I mentioned elsewhere that today I found out by looking at the first four books again that Elena means "light". I could imagine someone first sire-bonded to Damon might experience issues trying to separate from him. Even if Elena seemed to be technically free of the sire bond, that scene demonstrates to what extent Damon has always "consumed" her. Is what I'm wondering.
