DESCRIPTION "HOME" 5X22
AN EXPLOSIVE SEASON FINALE — Heartbroken by an unexpected tragedy, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is focused on holding himself together, while pushing Bonnie (Kat Graham) harder than ever to find a way to stop the disintegration of the Other Side. Elena (Nina Dobrev) takes matters into her own hands and demands that Liv (guest star Penelope Mithcell) and Luke (guest star Chris Broshu) help her, but Liv refuses to cooperate until Caroline (Candice Accola) provides her with some personal motivation. Sheriff Forbes (guest star Marguerite MacIntyre) is horrified when Markos (guest star Raffi Barsoumian) uses violence against Tyler/Julian (Michael Trevino) to prove that Mystic Falls is now under the control of the Travelers. With new information from Sheriff Forbes, Damon comes up with a dangerous plan that relies on split-second timing from Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Matt (Zach Roerig). Liv’s off-hand remark regarding Stefan (Paul Wesley) gets a surprisingly emotional response from Caroline. As conditions on the Other Side worsen, Bonnie takes the opportunity to settle an old score. Finally, Damon’s plan causes a massive explosion in Mystic Falls, and everyone is caught up in the confusion, leaving a trail of heroism, sacrifice, relief and despair.

Sounds like the season finale is all about Damon the hero. CD is totally in love with Ian/Damon. This is why she makes him out to be the hero all the time.

Looks like Stefan is the one who will die. I was thinking the same thing. Stefan will probably die in the episode before this, which could be whatever "unthinkable" act by a Traveler that Caroline witnesses, and then Elena will rush to resurrect Stefan before the Other Side is gone. It looks like whatever plan Damon comes up with to stop the Travelers won't work. It'll just lead to more death. The question is whose death. It looks like at least one person will sacrifice themselves to save someone else. Then when it's all over, a blame game will start that events over the season have already been leading up to, and what's left of the gang will feel less united. I still believe, after seeing a promo photo, that Damon will probably leave town for a while. Other promo photos show indication that Elena will have confrontations with both Bonnie and Caroline. I think Elena and Caroline's friendship has been dwindling for a while. They're too different now that they're vampires. Caroline might have been the one to figure out that Katherine was in Elena's body, but she also distracted Klaus when he was probably trying to make sure that something like that didn't happen. In a way, Caroline, with her need to gossip and have scandalous sex, is partly responsible for what Katherine did. Caroline has done other selfish things too, and spoilers indicate that she will do more selfish things, because she's harboring feelings for Stefan whether or not she realizes it. Whatever Bonnie does to settle an old score will probably upset Elena too. I'm not saying that the world should revolve around Elena. That would be wrong. I just think that the show is having childhood friends start to drift apart as they often do when they get to be college-age and discover how different they are as adults. Time might prove that Klaus was right about Caroline having darkness in her that has yet to come out. All of the characters have both good and bad qualities at this point. Season 6 will probably show how they try to earn back each other's trust, and who gets left out in the cold when friendships and family relationships are mended. It'll be interesting to watch because the actors' contracts will need to be renewed at the end of that season. Anyone can leave the show or get killed off.

I think Stefan will die in ep 21 and someone will save him from death in the finale because Paul said that everything will change for one character but it will not be Stefan. So I don't think Stefan will stay dead

I get the feeling that Elena isn't looking at Damon here. Maybe he's on the other side and she can't see him?!?

Since Elena isn't looking at Damon in the picture above, and everything is supposed to change for one character, I can see three possibilities: 1)Damon will die as part of Bonnie settling her score; 2)Damon will have a passenger in him permanently for some reason; or 3)Someone will be human again, probably not Damon, and Damon will bow out and leave town. If any of these three things happens, Elena won't be able to look at Damon, either because she's upset or because she can't see him. Any of my theories would also be a way that everything would change for Damon. The problem is, I'm not sure that Paul Wesley was referring to Damon when he said that everything would change for one of the characters. I think he was talking about someone else ending up in a different situation. I could be wrong. More than one character's life will probably change in the season finale. Every human in town will be dead when it's over, with the possible exceptions of Matt and the former vampire hunter Sheriff Forbes. That will be a problem.

Oh, wow. Other people should probably watch the interview. www.eonline.com/news/537450/ian-somerhalder-talks-vampire-diaries-threesome-say-what-and-reveals-who-he-s-dating When you combine some of the things Ian Somerhalder said here with his overall mood on Twitter when he stayed behind on set and finally left, I think it's clear that he's left the show, and probably not on good terms. There are going to be some seriously P.O.'d Delena shippers. I'm not one of them, but I feel bad for the EPs if Damon really is going to die and it'll stick. There's a small chance that he'll die before the season finale and get resurrected before the Other Side disappears, but other spoilers indicate that Stefan will be the one that Elena rushes to resurrect. If the cliffhanger involves Damon's relationship to Elena and/or Bonnie, then a surprise revelation is probably coming up. I don't think it'll be about a romantic relationship between Damon and Bonnie. It's possible that, like Katherine was and Elena probably is, Damon is a traveler and there's some kind of mythology surrounding vampires who are also travelers. Whatever happens in the cliffhanger is related to Bonnie's situation somehow. I don't think the cliffhanger itself is Damon dying because all deaths will be final, and after watching a couple of scenes with that particular threesome, I think Damon is connected to Bonnie in a way that is non-romantic but is a problem because no one ever brought it up.

Oh, prepare for a whole lot of Delena dilemmas in the season five finale. “The couple is put through their ultimate test as they try to save their friends, their town, and each other,” Julie Plec ominously teases.

Now that we know that Damon is going to die, I was wondering if we could put aside whether or not it will be permanent and discuss theories about how and why it happens. After hearing the news, people will automatically jump to the conclusion that Damon sacrifices himself to bring Stefan back, but in the video interview, Ian Somerhalder alludes to the idea that Damon's death involves a situation with Bonnie and Elena. I've thought of a few possibilities: a) Elena came back so angry that she joined up with Bonnie to get even with Damon at the right moment for his behavior while she was gone; b) Bonnie fears that Elena will always be sired to Damon, and, remembering all of the ways he has taken advantage of the sire bond, Bonnie kills Damon and Elena walks in on it, feeling pain but some relief because she suddenly has control over her feelings concerning Damon (Not sure how Stefan would feel about this one); c) While he was trying to tear Stefan and Elena apart but before he was with Elena, Damon had a relationship with Bonnie that no one knew about, and either Bonnie waited for the right time or the girls talked about it and decided to wait for the right time to make Damon pay for everything he's done to Bonnie, Elena, and their friends and families (Katherine could have picked up on this in Elena's memories and decided to kill Damon herself); d) Damon has some sort of familial relationship with the Bennett line (as in he had a child with Emily Bennett while he was chasing Katherine around), and Bonnie forces him to acknowledge it and give up his life so that she can live (Bonnie still might end up killing him herself because he's never taken responsibility for anything); or e) Bonnie reminds Damon of the promise he made to Emily Bennett that he would protect her family if she protected Katherine, a debate ensues about whether the promise is void because Katherine wasn't in the tomb and Emily turned on Damon, and Bonnie ends up killing Damon so that she can live, triggering a problem in Bonnie and Elena's lifelong friendship.
If Bonnie and Elena are somehow planning together to get rid of Damon (pick a reason why), the explanation could involve a series of flashbacks to scenes revolving around Damon, Bonnie, and Elena. Caroline would be very unhappy and kick up a fuss because she was left out of the big plan to kill Damon, which could explain the promo pic of Caroline confronting Elena. I'm not sure if the plan has changed about whether there's an endgame relationship for Elena. I read an article once from years ago saying that the show would end when Elena walks away from the brothers and they somehow separate from each other. Now that the brothers might be separating in a way that could bring out any reaction from Stefan depending on the circumstances, maybe the show is getting close to the end, or maybe there's an endgame relationship that Julie Plec has decided to work towards. I'm not saying that endgame relationship is Stelena, if there is one. I think Julie Plec mentioned the possibility of someone "waiting in the wings." She was referring to the doppelganger prophecy at the time, but maybe Season 6 is the beginning of Elena moving on toward a relationship with a character we're not aware of.
